How are all you new mummies doing?

It's the meat I can't get my head around rather than the veg. That's where I end up thinking jars are cheaper and prob just as good as making everything yourself.

I usually just take some meat off whatever I'm eating and blitz it up with the baby food

I shallow boil chicken/fish in whole milk or fry in unsalted butter :)

When I go shopping - I buy big packs of 6x chicken breasts. Then I split them Into 2's and freeze ( for us )

So when I buy 1 pack - I'll get 2x 2 breasts of chicken for our meals and then wrap 2 separately. Those single breasts are for Oscar when his food is low - ill defrost a chicken breast and make something up.

If I'm doing a roast for example on a Sunday - he will eat a roast with us but I'll do alittle bit of extra veg and that will make meals for him. - maybe 5/6 meals with a chicken breast. I've got cheese sauce cubes frozen in a ziplock bag so sometimes he will have a bowel with cheese sauce and some finger steamed veg - ill dip it in cheese sauce and pass to him and he sucks the cheese sauce then munches on the veg

I buy 1 small pack of lean steak mince every now and then and that will split into 2 - 1 half with passata will make bolognaise with baby pasta - ( all ingredients are in cupboard anyway) other half would make cottage pie or something

We eat veg and salad and lots of chicken ourselves so it's never really an inconvenience as we buy it all often

I don't eat fish so did have to buy a peice of fish espically and make some meals up but he loves it so that was a relief hahaha - this peice of fish cost 6.50!! However the fish pouch he had that I tried him on he hated - so I am not a strong believer in pouches/jars determine what they would like home cooked to a degree?

Even nursery said they could eat oscars food haha ( there's a few meals on the monthly menu i don't want him eating so take in my own for him to have - fish fingers etc ) :)

I have to admit - from 16-19 I was a chef in a kitchen part time whilst at college - however if you are unsure of anything then drop me a PM and I'll try help you come up with some easy cheap meals to make and freeze :)

It's worth weighing up the meat thing and if it's cheaper buying it in the pouches. We tend to stick to chicken and mince a lot but want Scarlett to be more varied which means buying it just for her. I probs will do it myself cos I don't mind cooking but see why people don't.

Oh no kaedin, maybe once she has had a couple of other textures before the rice cakes she will be better.

Hope it goes quick jojo and you feel ok.

Member I had a talk with my mum a while ago about not seeing S? I've now had 2 quick phonecalls since I've been back from hols about other things, and she hasn't once asked about her. She posted on fb this morning about how she is home tonight (2 mins from my house) and can't wait for a mummy night with my sis. It's all for show, makes me so mad and sad :-( feel like I'm banging my head off a wall!

Can't beat em join em Jen

Start putting status about how amazing your Inlaws are and how S is lucky to have them etc ;)

I wish I could get 5 mins to myself sometimes! We have grandparents that can't stay away! As nice as it is I feel bad when they don't see him every day. Just means I never do anything for myself

Right I have an Annabel karmel book. I'm going to read it and sort myself out. Will get stuff next week when I go shopping and might order stuff online that I can't get at sainsburys.

Will take you up on that if I get stuck bex

Bex, what did you do with the fish? I need to try Emma with it. I can't stand fish. Only fish that comes in our house is fish fingers that the kids like.

Ps ladies. Baby stock cubes are but one get one half price at boots. Just got some.

Torus

I did the AK recipe- got some haddock - poached in blue milk- with peas carrots and a creamy cheese sauce :)

Oscar loves it and so do our cats haha! Stinks the house out but it's so good for them it's worth the smell x

If it stinks I won't be able to do it. otherwise it will end up as fish and mummy spew for dinner! Might ask my mother in law to make it and freeze it so I just need to heat up small amounts.

Just went to book the harrods Santa grotto for the kids, and they now save all the weekend dates for those who want to pay £40 per adult and £20 per child to have afternoon tea after seing Santa. How rude!

That's craziness toria! How can they justify that?! Excited about or first Christmas already. :-)

Your right Bex, I don't even have her as a friend on my fb tho it's only cos she posted to my sis. I either have to lower my expectations of her or tell her to stick it!

Yikes! I'd tell her to stick it

S has all the important people in her life around her - those who make no effort don't deserve her time :) don't let it get you down!

I've seen my mum 3/4 times since I gave birth! I see MIL sometimes that many a week!

Guess it's just harrods trying to make more money! It's normally £10 admin fee to see Santa. It's a good one too, he looks like a proper Santa. Guess it's off to the garden centre then.

I've got my daughters 6th birthday party this weekend, her actual birthday on the 19th. Then I need to start getting organised for Xmas. Got lots of Emma's presents already. It's the older ones that are hard work. Also need to send all my nieces and nephews presents early nov to get to NZ in time.

We're only buying Luke a little bit, not much at all as there's not really much point buying much for first Xmas. I've put a ban on people buying him cuddly toys as he has so many!!

I went to dentist and she temporarily filled it until Monday when I'm having a filling and she mentioned a crown... Not sure if that is included on maternity cert? Anyone know?

Everything is included on maternity cert. My dentist has suggested I get some non-urgent work done before mine expires.

We've got quite a lot of bits for christmas and first birthday already. All stuff in sales. Love a good bargain.

Me and hubby will get free dental anyway because if the tax credits level we get. We don't pay for prescriptions while were in that - so basically until I go back to FT or hubby gets FT work

crazy!!! fair play jojo! i need to just stop working i reckon and do myself a favour! lol
