I shallow boil chicken/fish in whole milk or fry in unsalted butter
When I go shopping - I buy big packs of 6x chicken breasts. Then I split them Into 2's and freeze ( for us )
So when I buy 1 pack - I'll get 2x 2 breasts of chicken for our meals and then wrap 2 separately. Those single breasts are for Oscar when his food is low - ill defrost a chicken breast and make something up.
If I'm doing a roast for example on a Sunday - he will eat a roast with us but I'll do alittle bit of extra veg and that will make meals for him. - maybe 5/6 meals with a chicken breast. I've got cheese sauce cubes frozen in a ziplock bag so sometimes he will have a bowel with cheese sauce and some finger steamed veg - ill dip it in cheese sauce and pass to him and he sucks the cheese sauce then munches on the veg
I buy 1 small pack of lean steak mince every now and then and that will split into 2 - 1 half with passata will make bolognaise with baby pasta - ( all ingredients are in cupboard anyway) other half would make cottage pie or something
We eat veg and salad and lots of chicken ourselves so it's never really an inconvenience as we buy it all often
I don't eat fish so did have to buy a peice of fish espically and make some meals up but he loves it so that was a relief hahaha - this peice of fish cost 6.50!! However the fish pouch he had that I tried him on he hated - so I am not a strong believer in pouches/jars determine what they would like home cooked to a degree?
Even nursery said they could eat oscars food haha ( there's a few meals on the monthly menu i don't want him eating so take in my own for him to have - fish fingers etc )
I have to admit - from 16-19 I was a chef in a kitchen part time whilst at college - however if you are unsure of anything then drop me a PM and I'll try help you come up with some easy cheap meals to make and freeze
