Hi I'm high risk as I've had 5 mc in the past and have just been told my progesteron levels are low. I'm 6+6 and hcg is 18000 and progesterone is 25.3 was 27.3 before. The doc says it's not looking good as it's dropping but he won't prescribe supplements for it. He thinks I'll be lucky to make 10 weeks and to be honest he made me feel a waste of his time. Im at a loss as what to do now. He just said wait and see :(

So sorry your being treated like this.

Firstly I would make a complaint about this doctor, they should be doing ALL they can to help, that's their job!

I would also ask to be referred to specialist in recurrent mc's, have you had any tests?

I think you need to ask to be seen by someone else in the meantime to prescribe the supplements you mention and make sure that someone is taking you seriously.

Sometimes it's easy for people to say this when it's not them, I am the same with my current situation and DH quite often chips in on my behalf when I am not asking what I have been talking to him about, but I think that it's not a fair situation for you to be in, and be given a fair chance of trying everything first in case that does work for you

Good luck

Hi hun,

I've had 3 miscarriages in the past and my GP hasn't really been involved (he did prescribe me high dose folic acid but that was about it)

Are you under specialist care? If so you need to contact your consultant ASAP and if not you need to get yourself referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic. Your Dr will need to refer you.

For the time being maybe you are best off contacting your local early pregnancy clinic and seeing if they can do anything for you?

Best of luck

xxxxx

Hi. I was referred last year and had tests they could find nothing wrong other than my blood clots easy. They wanted to do genetics testing but we had to wait for that till my oh came home as he is in the army. He came home and I fell pregnant. That's where we are now. I was so angry at that doctor for treating me that way and I called the midwife. Even tho I'm not due to see her till next month she is talking to the gp today and calling me after so fingers crossed. I've been to the early pregnancy unit and they did a scan and we see a heart beat. She said I have to go back to my gp as it's viable pregnancy they won't do anything else unless I'm bleeding. I just want this baby to have a fair chance and knowing there's something they can give me to help is so annoying and stressing me out. How hard is it to write a prescription. I think he feels with my history it's a waste of time and money arghhhh so stressed

Have they not suggested progesterone suppositories?
I know my friend had them after her IVF cycles.

Hi I have asked for them but my gp said they don't prescribe them. I've spoke to my midwife today who I meet on the 5th of next month and she has managed to get me an emergency referral to the gyno. So fingers crossed that comes quickly and I get them that way. If not we are going to see a private doctor to get them that way. We want this baby so badly we just have a useless gp

My GP has prescribed progesterone suppositories for me - like you i'm on my 5th pregnancy and progesterone was recommended by the RMC clinic. Some GPs are reluctant to prescribe it though without specialist supervising. If you have a clotting prob, shouldn't you also be on blood thinners? I'm taking injections of fragmin ( a type of heparin) for this. So far so good for me at 13 weeks plus.

I'm also taking low dose aspirin 75mg and vit d 2000units daily, both of which you can buy in the supermarket. Again this was on the advice of rmc clinic.

I don't know what my gp is up to. I'm just hoping this appointment comes quick and I can get what I need to give the baby the best possible chance if making it. Glad your getting all you need though :)

Not all GPs or rmc will give progesterone. I had 11 miscarriages and I remember one time begging them to give me it but they wouldn't as my progesterone results came back "normal". In hindsight now I'm glad they didn't prescribe me it as I had a chromosome problem anyways.

For my successful pregnancy I took high dose folic acid plus omega 3 fish oil and a multi vit. You should def be on blood thinners too if that's been identified through your testing.

I'm taking folic acid and prenatal vitamins so fingers crossed there. I had a dvt and a pe several years ago but have been off the blood thinners for about 7 years I think. No mention of going back on them. Hopefully the appointment comes soon. My levels are not normal so hopefully I will get them. It's also dropped by 2 in 3 days. Doc says not looking good. My symptoms are fading too so will be having another blood test tomorrow
