i personally think its when they are old enough to make sensible decisions for themselves. which will varie from child to child.

Agree with that :D

I dont think anything should be "done to" a child, its something that should be left well alone until they are old enough, as Budge says, to make thier own informed desicions.

I voted teenage years as my eldest only recently had hers done at 14.

It may look lovely, but it just doesnt seem right to me. No offence to anyone who has had thier childs ears done, different opinions and all that, but I dunno......

As for the culture thing, I think we can all assume we are talking about a culture where it is a fashion choice and nothing to do with any deeper meanings, whearas with cultures where it does have symbolic meaning, its a completely different story all together and not such a simple question.

I voted teenage years too..........

I would hate to get Grace's ears pierced when she is tiny and then find she didn't want them done.

I have a cousin and a friend who have never wanted their ears pierced.

I had my first ones when I was 13 - then wanted a 2nd lot done but mum made me wait until my 18th birthday ........ I was married before I dared have the third set done.... stopped there........

Thanks GGG - this is pretty much what I wanted to say, but my silly plonker mood made it come out wrong.
Baby's are beautiful enough...

i dont think there is a right or wrong age, everyone has their own opinions on things like this but both the girls have got theirs done, kiyanna was about 1 n elise had hers done at 11 months

people dont get them done just for looks.

my reason was if she got them done when she was a baby she would forget after a moment or too. i got mine done at 6 weeks and was so happy my mum done it.

if Dior dont like them she can take them out no problem.

I voted teenage years. I was 13 when I got mine done. I think they grow up too quickly as it is. Some things should be saved for later.......

I had my ears pierced when I was 9 months and i'm glad I did because I don't remember it!
I won't be having Harrison's done but it I were to have a lil girl in the future I may get hers done aslong a I was prepared to look after them!

*You can bite at this all you like but it is my personal opinion!!

Sorry - don't want to start an arguement but I don't agree.
If she got them done when she was older and knew what was happening she would forget aswell!
Of course you get them done for looks - there is no medical reason for having a baby's ears pierced as far as I know...

I 100% agree with you there Dionne.

Each to their own though, they're your children so you decide. You shouldn't judge someone else because they've done it differently.

Hold on - I'm not judging - I have said it's my opinion!!

its not about looks its about everyones personal opinions u may not like it but some of us chose 2 have them done on our kids
kiyanna loves her ear piercings n going shoppin 4 some ear rings
i dont think there is anything wrong with it

I agree everyone has their opinion - but can I ask, if it's not about looks, what is it about??

like i said before i didnt get them done for looks  !!! or can you not read and you no what goes on in my head?

most girls want their ears pierced so i saved Dior the hassel of getting them done when she is older. atleast i wont have to put up with her nagging  i loved having mine in school and all the girls loved them
she didnt realised what was hapening when she got them done then that was it she was fine.
i am so glad she has them now as its done and out the way

its just a bonus that they look cute too

i had all 8 of mine done for looks, theres no other reason to have piercings. I just dont think its ok to do it to some one that doesnt understand whats going on. If you really really want a piercing you pay the price with the pain!

the only difference was when i was 12 and had my 1st ones done i did it because every one else wanted me too...now i do it because i want to look like that. I want a million tattoos and piercing because i think they look good. :cheer:

there werent a particular reason other than the fact as dionne said most girls like to have there ears done so i did them when they was young enough 2 forget about the pain and start moaning about it

I did read that - so your saying you got her ears pierced because when she's older other girls will have theirs done?? I just don't get it.
I'm not trying to be a cow, but I really don't get it!

i got them done to save her the pain when she is older. she was to young to fiddle with them so it was a perfect age for me and her!

do you get it now????

If it's your oppinion then why are you biting at people for theirs?

I'M NOT grrr
I'm trying to find out why they did it!
People are saying it wasn't for looks - and I want to know what other reason there is!
