Closed - old IVF thread

I think that you know how they always tell you to break your goals down into little tiny pieces and achieve them one at a time? Well you need to do the opposite for IVF.

You need to make it into as huge a piece as possible and keep your eye on the one main goal - a baby.

As long at that is still the goal, then the stuff that happens in between just comes down to time.

I'm trying to mentally move my goal posts at the moment. I'm trying to tell myself that my first baby in 2014 at 29 (omg ) isn't that bad... Even if I probably will be too geriatric to enjoy life when my youngest is booted out of the nest :(

Skeando - have you got three weeks left till you can try stims again? it may feel like a long time, but really its not, and yourll be back there in no time, infact your still on your cycle as your getting to continue dr too, hang in there X

Laurat - I totally know what you mean, that's what I felt with mine, you know your body best, but you never know as chance and luck and your embie all play a part too, so you hang in there too , yourll soon know either way and be out of limbo X

Lou - your never too old! You make me sound like a dinosaur! ha ha I'm very active always have been and Devon seems to make time stand still and keep me young, shame it doesn't do the same for my face! ha ha..
The avg age for starting a family is about 29/30 now, so you have lots of time and your baby plan is looking just perfect!! If it helps , i'm also , I think a way better mum now at 39 than I was at 24!! I may turn 60 before my last blasto baby to be - turns 21 but hey I'll make sure I look good for him at his party!!

I have to wait till I have a period and then I can start as soon as they have an appt. So maybe two or three weeks. Just hope my body plays ball and doesn't drag this out. Still on nasal spray so don't have to wait until day 21 to start injections

lol JJ  You're right...

...about being a dinosaur (lol)

And about there being benefits to being an older mum too ;)

I just want my babies now now NOW!

You'll have 7 years on me Lou when you have your first at 29! ;) x

Oh Lou please!!! I would do anything to have a baby at 29!! I'm about to turn 33 arrgghhh

Yeah missy try being 34 next match, unlikely to have my bubba now until at least 34!

I will be a yummy mummy though! Lol :)

Gizzy xxx

I've seen you Gizzy, you look amaaaazing.

I fear i might be a fat and frumpy mummy :oooo:

JJ - I'll call the clinic on my next CD1 to let them know I want to do IUI that cycle, will take the clomid CD2-6 and I think i'll be having scans every couple of days from about CD9 until I'm ready to trigger. All seems so much more easier and quicker than the IVF was.

Louise - I thought they might be different and one have some disgusting thing in like when you explained the difference between Gonal F and Menopour
Haha well you can count on me to be in the miserable group atm, it's all just really starting to get to me plus I'm hating myself because I hate every pregnant person in the world right now
On top of all that I'm getting fed up with my diabetes because my sugar levels have decided to go crazy for the past 7-10 days and are showing no signs of going back to normal. Gawd it's just everything at once :wall2:

I know what you mean about the age thing, I never expected to be creeping upto 30 and still have no baby, when we first started trying I was sure we'd be parents before we were 30 but I'll be 29 in January so that's looking more and more unlikely.

Skeando - That's great that you won't have to wait till day 21 again,

come on AF :nerner:........ now please..

Lou - Well why don't you have one set of twinnys with this next cycle in belgium at 29 and then have another set of twinnys when your actually an older lady... I recomend it X

Tinks - Wow that has snuck up already, whens do you think your cd1 will be , I know your cycles are a bit screwy at the mo. I hadn't realised that they used clomid for IUI, I think I'd assumed they used like the normal ivf stim stuff in every case. Hope your sugers settle down soon, can they get affected by stress etc?
Are you starting to feel more excited about the next cycle now, I found it gave me the something I needed to pick myself up and something to get my teath into..

Gizzy and KayKay, not long for you now to start your cycles here X

JJ its interesting what you're saying about being an older mum, esp as you have experience of it. You've given me a bit of hope if I'm honest, cos I do worry about my age and if I will have enough energy etc. I wasn't interested in trying when I was in my 20s and I'm glad now that I went travelling and lived a lot of life while I was young. I'm glad my 20s were not tainted by TTC now that I think of it. I was a different person back then, I actually enjoyed life and was happy (for the most part). And I will certainly have a lot of stories to tell the grandkids! (and some I could never tell them lol)

Just wish I had fallen preggers at 30 when I first started trying. Okay, I'll pack my violin away now lol thanks for listening xxx

Skeando sorry you're feeling fed up hun. The sniffing sounds like a drag I'm not looking forward to that. Chin up hun, hopefully it will all be worth it xxx

You know when u speak to people who you don't know in person - ie clients on the phone at work and you get a puicture in your head of what they look like...... I totally have that for some of you girls. It would likely be soo wrong but its weird eh??

I turned 30 in July..... had always imagined I would have at least one baby by 30, its depressing. All my friends have been pg before their first wedding anniversary. We have been married since 2006 (although only TTC since 2009)!

Hi all - sorry disappeared for a while! Had a chat with clinic of phone and they told us that out of the 4 eggs, 3 failed to fertilise and 1 fertilised abnormally; apparently instead of the egg disposing of one set of chromosomes it kept it so the embryo had three chromosomes. The eggs that failed to fertilise, they're not entirely sure why but the egg wall was quite tough?? I had a proper face to face consultation with the clinic on tuesday, where they will discuss in more detail and how we can approach the next cycle.

How is everyone else getting on? Laura how long do you have left until testing?

Jenny, good to hear your appointment is Tues to move on. Its good when you have a focus and plan.

Im going to test Wed I think which is 13 DPO as Id definetly expect it to show by then with no oh well its too early etc. It will be positive or negative and Ill know. Also hubby works late and I actually want to be on my own as I can't see his pain either if it is negative.

The official blood test is Fri morning and result phoned at 1pm. I could not wait till then as Id be at work and couldnt face getting upset there.

Wishing you all the luck in the world for Weds Laura, I really hope you get your BFP xxx

hey laura, when you test make sure you use a frer. through my disasteroud few weeks of late I have done quite a few brands of tests and have found frers the most consistent and accurate in comparison to my hcg results.

wishing you all the luck in the world hun.
