Christmas 2013 Thread!

I saw an advent calendar today..... for cats

I am tempted to get my little Amber one!

xxxxxxx

We usually went to my parents but this is J's first xmas so we are having dinner just us 3.

Saves any arguments from either side.

FIL caused war because aparently the grankids go visit the grandparents but they were informed when J was born I wouldn't be travelling this year. Stress free xmas!

Last year was A's first christmas and we had lunch at my parents and dinner at OH's parents :faint: Not doing it again this year! Problem is by Christmas we will live just round the corner from my parents (currently we live with them  ), so it makes sense to have lunch at their house as it'll be so much nicer than if we cook it ourselves, and it means we can have the morning at our house just playing with A without thinking about cooking etc. and don't have to worry about washing up after as they have a dishwasher! Also means OH can have a drink with his lunch if he wants, which he can't do if we have to drive to his parents 45 min away in the afternoon.

We'll be spending all of boxing day with OH's family so I think it's fair enough, but I still imagine there'll be words.

I've had a lovely afternoon.

James is asleep so I've pulled out my whole card drawer and labelled up all the cards I bought last week (combination of Birthday's, anniversaries etc...) plus I've labelled up all the 'special' Crimbo cards and I've written my 'normal' Crimbo card list. I will wait until December to actually write these out though.

James will be up anytime soon so if we're in tomorrow afternoon it will be time to sort out the Crimbo decorations...

Well after posting saying I had all my baby's presents... I've just gone and bought a load more for her :-/ haha! I've got her xmas PJs from next and her main present which is a rocking horse.

Just a few more last minute things needed. Question; whats everyone getting grandparents? And daddies? I'm stumped for ideas!

Grandparents and Daddy are getting naff all.

We have an agreement between both families that we only buy for the kids (there are nine of them).

I always stick some money in my youngest brothers card as well, he is the only one without kiddies.

I've estimated that to be £200

On Crimbo day I'll take round some Prosecco and posh biccies / choccies to both sets of grandparents.

OH don't do pressies - we prefer to spend money we save throughout the year {we save all our silver} on a nice tree, lots of nibbles and booze [to offer people as we have lots of visitors over the festive period] than to spend on pressies. We tend to get each other something in the sales though.

I currently am not earning anything (I'm in the last month of SMP and took an extra 2 months unpaid) so I wont get my next proper salary until 23rd December.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy decent (not to expensive) Christmas tree decorations?

I usually just go to the pound shop but then moan because its not that great once I get it home! This year I want to feel proud looking at my tree!!

Things such as tinsel, baubles, beads, bows etc

TIA

Tapatalking!!

I really must update my ticker!

BB, Is there a Home Sense near you? It's a home wear version of TK Maxx and they do lovely decorations and are relatively cheap. Otherwise if you have access to Costco, it has some fab decorations.
I've seen Tesco's collection and its really good too!

Diane, I've got my mum some bedding and have ordered one of those bear-workshop teddies with E's chuckle recorded so when it's tummy is pressed her laugh is sounded. More of a sentimental gift really. Hubby and I have agreed a limit of £10 for each other and it's a competition to see who can make their £10 go the furthest.

I spend loads on decorations!

I remember our first Christmas together I spent about £60 in John Lewis  although this is our 7th Christmas and the decorations are going strong.

I add bits and pieces each year. Our tree is mainly silver with a little black.

I buy things like hearts and stuff that I can have on display throughout the year, these are some I bought years ago. I just banged a few nails in the mirror and have them out all year round.

These are my Primark hearts, I need to find somewhere proper for them after they go on the tree this year as they look silly on the photo.

I live right next to my mum too LOL, the next street (not much nest flying)

I dont wanna have to rush J away from his toys or anything, makes sense for you as you live there. We just plan to wake, have breakfast, open toys get ready my parents will probably visit.

We may as well make the most of our college qualifications and cook dinner for once! We both did catering at college so Christmas eve will be spent prepping dinner. Im mega excited.

What you guys eat, meat wise for dinner?
