I was really worried about it but it honestly didn't hurt it was just a bit uncomfortable, she was able to tell me that my cervix was forward but still long, whatever that means lol xx

Do they just put their fingers up? Or whole hand? I always remember the one born episode where the lady was in shock cos the midwife put her whole hand up there! Having an internal during labour is a bit different, I didn't have a problem with those. But don't like the idea of one when not in labour. I find the smear test really painful :-(

Jeez. That would hurt!!!

I had to go and have a nosey to see what you were all talking about.....how bloody bizarre! Why would anyone do that?? It's a bit disturbing really! :eh:

Had the worst night last night - reckon it must've been about 25 degrees in our bedroom overnight! I was going to sleep in the spare room (bit cooler and means not disturbing OH) but it's piled high with all the crap we've cleared out of the nursery and I just couldn't be arsed sorting it all out!

So....my to-do list that I drew up last weekend...I got off to a good start on Monday and have done NOTHING from it since  Best hope baby doesn't come early!!

There seem to have been lots of babies popping out over the last few days - exciting seeing new labour threads and birth annoucements popping up every day :)

Sounds like me with the sorting out that needs doing lol :)
Yay to labour and babies :D xx

Been out with OH today.. Went for breakfast and sat down, OH went up to order and they said they already had 60 orders to complete! (This was at about 10am) So we went elsewhere and they didn't have a breakfast menu. So OH had peas for breakfast with his chicken and chips lol.

Walked around for a few hours n looked for a dress for mums wedding come September. No luck..
Popped to my dads, then supermarket.. and was so glad to be home! Tired now xx

Hey ladies xxx I feel like shit today so a grumpy post! I've slept on and off for the last 2 days and have upset tummy, backache and just generally feel crappy.

Ladies ive been getting shooting pains up my foof, any one else experiencing this? As im breech i cant blame it on the head engaging. Just started in past couple hrs x

Hello Ladies!

Kelly have you recovered from your busy day yet? Peas for breakfast sounds yummy to me :)

Sounds like a few of us are really not feeling too good. Lulula, hope your feel better enough to enjoy your day tomorrow!

Denise- is a sweep better/worse then a smear or cervical exam. I've had those and they don't bother me at all :)

Buggy, were you having a sweep today? Hope it went well for you! Feel sorry for you overdue ladies - I've heard about this constant "is the baby here yet" messages - my friend got so pissed off with them! you should text back with random stupid baby photos. I don't get what goes through peoples minds. Surely, if they feel they are close enough to ask, then they know you would have told them...Like you will get a text from a friend and go 'oh yes, I forgot to tell EVERYONE that I popped out a baby yesterday, silly me?!' I do hope I don't get any of those texts, I'm far to sarcastic!!!

I've been in touch with a friend of my aunts who is a MW who used to baby sit me lol. She says its very unusual for a first time mum to still be unengaged at 39 weeks but I could still go on to have a normal delivery. Baby may turn during labour but be prepared for a very long (72H!) painful latent phase at home if I'm still back to back :/ he is still B2B, my belly is the strangest shape. Its like a big rectangle! the top ( my belly button) is totally dipped! I'd laugh if I didn't know how much pain I'm infor lol.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening planned, my hubbys on nights so I think I'll just bounce on my ball and watch New Girl :D

xxx

Apparently it is very normal. I've been getting it too and babys head is free so I'm not sure what exactly causes it?

hello ladies! Just popping in to update you on my sweep! Didn't go very well :(

Basically she couldn't reach my cervix as it was too high! She said that the babies head was lower than my cervix as the head is really low. I don't know how that works??

She said it was a good sign that the head was so low. She did say that she managed to pull on the bottom of my cervix a bit to stretch it and disturb it enough to make something happen hopefully. She definitely got something because parts of it were quite painful!

I haven't had any good signs yet really but hoping that something will happen! x

I think it is just changes in the cervix guys., not necessarily caused by pressure from babies head ;)

Hey spinsugar. Im very tired and I think baby is trying to come out next to my belly button.. it feels as though he is ready to pop out of there and also is tickling down my lady region.
I can see an early night coming on :-) I dont feel 100%.
Hopefully he engages to make the birth as straight forward as possible. Xx

buggy, I don't know if this is right or not but at a class I went to, she said the cevix is long and tucked behind in pregnancy. As things start, it sort of moves down, then back over the babys head. So I guess that's maybe what she means, the head is low but its not pressing on the opening, as that part is still behind? I think if the cervix more like a tube rather then an opening?

I hope that makes sense!

Oh buggy.. im not really sure how cervix and head and sweep and all that works. But ill keep my fingers crossed for u x

I don't think I really get it to be honest spinsugar! It is a bit confusing. i tried having a poke and I can just get the bottom of it. It is really soft so that is a good sign.

She said what she has done might disturb it enough to move it down a bit for my next try on Tuesday. Hope the baby comes before then though!

Off to get some alcohol-free booze as im dying for a drink! x

Yeah soft is a good sign. My maternity notes say to feel the end of your nose, then your lips. When your cervix feels soft like lips then that's good.
