August 2017 babies!

Aww great news H4R!

Elspeth i got it online - sold in a few places it's called animal Magic by a company called scion x

We have a very healthy boy! She was very impressed with how he is. She said she would have said I was due July based in his size. She also said 100% and said she isn't allowed to say that but she was extremely positive he was a he. I also got my bloods back and got iron tablets for anemia. All and all a good scan :)

Ah Rose that nursery is gorgeous!

So glad your scans went well and all is okay :)

I'm not having my 16 week appointment until 19 weeks... will I have to wait for my 20 weeks scan aswell?

Also forgot to mention, because my midwife fked the first appointment, i cant have the tests done for Edwards and the other thing :/ she's done bloods for downs tho :( tbh it's not the downs I was having all the tests for it was the other 2!!! Xx

Ah that's really annoying PB, it doesn't sound like your care has been particularly good! My 20wk scan was booked at the end of the 12wk one, so I've had the date for months. I would definitely have a ring around and see if you can book it now.

Awww the scan piccies are lovely. I can't believe how much our babies have grown/developed over the last 8 weeks.

Loving the nursery pics and all your baby buys as well. We haven't bought anything yet. I guess we had better start thinking about it :)

There's no one to ring, I can't ring hosp because they don't deal with it, it's call completely different from my last hosp. Also I'm supposed to have my glucose test at 26 weeks because my mom is diabetic, but she was like no 28 weeks. She also said they don't do scans to check bleeds in the uterus in this hosp :/ what the actual fk, and has put me as low risk :/ i feel like she doesn't know what she's doing.
She wasn't even gonna let me have a consultant until I said my midwife last time said that I had to be cossa all my mcs. And she said she doesn't want to see me until 25 weeks, I said I havn't had my 16 week appointment or any check ups and stuff... she said if i want it book an appointment for April :/ so I'll probably have my 25 week at 30.
So I think my 20 week scan will be my last on the nhs because they just don't seem to care. I'll be paying for a private 1 or 2 just to see if she's ok.x

Can you put a complaint in? In my booking in pack I got a leaflet about the midwife supervisor thingy, and I think you can complain through them. But if you've moved areas then I guess that would be wrong as well... try googling it for your area? The one here can be contacted 24hrs apparently via phone or email. Hopefully your Trust will have the info online.

I don't understand why so many of you are having issues, I know they are stretched really thin but it seems like they don't care either :/ Especially after the time of it that you've had! :(

My GTT is booked for 28 weeks as well, so maybe that's an area thing? 2 weeks shouldn't make too much of a difference I wouldn't have thought x

Great news Jill!

PB you seem to have a particularly unhelpful midwife :( where I am the hospital automatically book your 20 week after the 12 but don't send a letter out to tell you when it is until about two weeks before so it might be that she doesn't have anything to do with the booking. However I don't think you should be seen much over 20 weeks because it's done then so they can look for the right things. I think you have good cause to be consultant led but they are really funny about extra scans etc as the NHS standard everyone gets is 12 and 20 unless there is anything worrying seen at 20. With my first pregnancy I'd had two miscarriages before and I was always sort of fobbed off with 'everything will be fine youre just being neurotic' but you have a lot more cause to be worried than I ever did. This time I've been told I'll just be referred for further scans if I look huge (my son was 10lb 1 so over the limit of what they consider normal size) whereas at the start they said I would definitely be scanned to check for size. My dad is diabetic so I'm also getting the GTT but 28 weeks is standard here so that's when it is being done xx

I have my GTT at 24 weeks but they tried to say 28 to start with but I argued it. My MW has been terrible here tbh and the only reason I got it booked earlier was because the specialist said I should have it at The earliest time and that I might be tested twice. Rose that's terrible they have fobbed you off! I have been too, i find it annoying as they missed so much my last pregnancy that they promised to be more careful this time, I'm not seeing an improvement xx

I have seen my midwife once left a message to say do I need to book next appointment.. nothing back..
im classed as low risk but don't think it matters either way...
unless your turning up at the hospital with concerns or phoning hospital senior staff -I'm not sure they do much!

I'm laid back because I haven't had any signs of problems but it must be highly frustrating to feel neglected!!

Rose beautiful unisex nursery!
How did you find the oval cot?

Prrfect it's called the Stokke sleepi cot. The whole thing adapts from a smaller oval to the bigger one and is on wheels so if you are in a flat means you don't need a Moses basket when first born as you can just wheel the smaller cot from room to room. Google it to see the smaller size. I talked about them before as they are about £700 new but I got mine second hand for £150 but I have two and the other one came with a changer and the bits to adapt to the smaller cot so was £300. The one in the photo would adapt I just don't have the other set of bits to do it as I didn't need it for my toddler. I love the cot, it's simple, practical and has been brilliant for both of my two :) x

Lovely looking cot- just abit different than the traditional shape and likely takes up less room!

Looks lovely with canopy over the top I've seen on adverts :)

Is anyone feeling movement daily yet?
Only I had a week of feeling him a lot not a week of not feeling him much is this normal?
X

I am furious for you. You have got to chase this sweetheart, they are just not proactive enough in their strategies, that is just the way it is. And in your case there is also inconsistency/things that get missed out due to changing areas. I had to do this with both of my pregnancies. Placental deficiency in my first one (it can lead to intra uterine growth restriction and subsequently even stillbirths), a 6cm mass inside me of unknown origin in my second one (plus my previous history of placental deficiency, plus my previous baby eventually born with intestinal atresia/possible short bowel syndrome that needed a 9 hour surgery straight after birth to save his life). I WAS ORIGINALLY CLASSED AS LOW RISK FOR BOTH! Due to non proactive-ness (made-up word lol), laid back attitude of midwife and even unacceptable mistakes, like midwife forgetting to put all reasons of high risk into the referral! Until I chased it and fought for it. Once I presented them with the issues they hadn't spotted or had let slip through the net, they changed my status to high risk consultant led and were fantastic monitoring me regularly. They were amazing with my baby's surgery too, NHS docs and surgeons were like our little Gods who gave him life and I owe them everything. BUT you need to CHASE IT my lovely. No reason to hesitate. Even if it means you go to a private consultant/obstetrician with all of your history, they examine you and they write a report explaining why you were and still are HIGH risk.

I am keeping everything crossed it's all sorted out for you 'cause you deserve it! Please keep us updated xx

(Jeepers creepers never been so passionate at 8:30am before lol, I am buzzing, maybe that's what I need for my energy to come back lol)

Consultant appointment today at 4pm, internal exam ewww, I am bricking it again!

Have a good day everyone, lots of love xx

Good luck H4R today and well said!

Love this forum and our little group. Such a supportive place.
Sending love to you mummy's and your bumps.
Xxx

Good luck today H4R I'm sure all will be fine. Don't you wish some of these nerve wracking appointments were in the morning so you don't stress all day?!

I am feeling baby movements daily and on the outside. Tbh I'm not sure what is normal as this wee monkey is as active as his sister was!

Hubby is still sounding like death today, wee one is still sleeping after a terrible night of calpol and cuddles and I now feel like I have a cold! So depressing haha xx

I'm still not sure if I've felt anything yet :( but 20 weeks today (yay!) so I'm sure it won't be long.

Think bump is finally coming along nicely... this was this morning
