****** April Mummies!!!! ******

Awesome thanks Lynne - although seeing it like that freaks me out a bit!

Danielle I am out of control on the buying front. I've got:
3 tiny baby vests
8 newborn vests
1 first size sleepsuit
7 up to 1 month sleep suits
2 0-3 month sleepsuit
5 long sleeve newborn vests
1 0-3 short sleeve "I love daddy" vest
1 green knitted newborn jumper
3 pairs of scratch mits
7 piece 6 month box set (one blanket, one gown, 2 sleepsuits, 2 vests, one hat)

Think that's it.... Will try v hard not to buy anymore now!

With clothes ladies I usually buy 10 of everything in newborn and prem. once little one has arrived you find people buy you loads plus if you think there is 4lb diff between newborn and 0-3 so both should fit for a few weeks haha plus you will know what you do and don't need once everybody has given their gifts so you can be better prepared. You will find that as soon as you have popped 0-3 months in the drawers it's not long before you are adding 3-6 and will find you have loads of stuff that little one hasn't wore. Plus summer items will start to come out around may so you will be getting them in too xx

I'm struggling because I see cool gender specific stuff but struggle to really like the unisex stuff. I'm just going to send the grandparents shopping when baby GK arrives! Xx

Ok ladies just sat looking at breast pumps.... Planning on breast feeding but want hubby to be able to feed too. They're so expensive though!!
Is electric a lot easier than manual? What other bits should I be getting with it - how many bottles? Do we need a steriliser?

God this stuff is a mind field!! Xxx

Yes electric is better. Don't go mad with bottles as all my children have tried 3-4 sets before they have liked a certain teat, I would say the new avent ones look really good they do look and feel like a woman's breast but it really is down to your little one and what they like. Ideally you would need 3 bottles one ready to use one spare and one sterilising xx

I got mine off eBay brand new never been open I find it's good to look on there as you can always get a bargain. Also think about storage bags for your milk so you can freeze it and use as and when needed xx

A few people recommended the medela swing pump to me but at £130.00 I was waiting to see if it would go in the sale but it didn't. Then I was in John Lewis at the mall on the weekend and there it was at £86.66?! Next door in Kiddicare it was still £130.00 so I went back and got it.

Leanne where would we be without you!

Regarding the breast pump, my 2 best friends breast fed and they had both the electric and manual. They have recommended that I go for manual as they found that easier and it was much quieter. But I suppose it's personal choice. Im going for the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Manual Breast Pump which is currently 19.99 in mothercare. For a steriliser im going to use a microwave steriliser! Again my friends have recommended Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Microwave Steriliser which is also on offer in mothercare for 17.99.

Ladies I am sooooo excited today about it all!

xxx

I have quite large Boobs lol so I find all the hand pumping exhausting, I have bought a medela mini electric one as it can be battery operated too for when I'm out and about. I had one of these with my son and found it fantastic whilst out and about xx

Haha Leanne, il be grand then cos my boobs are not very big! In fact my sister, the social worker, has threatened to report me to the child welfare dept if I breast feed cos my baby will be malnourished!! My gran is buying us our steriliser and breast pump and after posting the reduced prices on here iv just went and ordered them as combined there's £19 off. Oooh I feel iv got loads today!
xx

Thanks ladies. Can't really decide which to go for... I'm planning on just expressing occasionally if I am not going to be with baby at feeding time / if hubby wants to do the feed. So don't know if I can justify the expense of an electric one!! My boobs aren't that huge so perhaps I'd cope ok with manual....
Decisions decisions!!! Xxx

Oh and I also bought some bags and little tubs to freeze/store milk once iv expressed so hubby can join in the feeding too! Or to feed if im out and about and don't fancy whipping one out!

Chatty ladies! I just popped to mothercare on my lunch break and picked another little newborn outfit for bubs and some black yoga pants for me - much needed!!

On the breast pump front etc - we chose the MAM bottles and I got the breast pump on offer with a voucher in the bounty magazine, just manual at the moment - going to wait and see if I get on with expressing before splashing out on an electric one and we got the microwave steriliser set with bottles for £13.50 when it was on offer on Ocado! Bargain :) was one of the first things we bought so we have 3 bottles in total now - going to leave it at that and see how things go once shes here

Thanks for posting that list - I need to go through it and get a shopping list together!

With the baby monitor I bought the tommee tippee closer to nature digital sensor one. I have always found the movement and sound monitors give the best piece of mind as if baby hasn't moved within 14seconds an alarm is raised although we have had a few mishaps were they baby has moved off the sensor lol xxx

My last little one loved the mam bottles I have bought them and the closer to nature ones this time round too xx

We bought the Tommee Tippee starter kit thing. I think we're also going to cheat and get the Perfect Prep machine as we have heard such good things. Not getting that yet though as I'm going to try to breast feed first.

Went to pick up my bits from Next and accidently went into Mamas and Papas and ended up buying a cot mobile - whoops! In my defense it was the last one left and half price so £15. Got more maternity and breast pads in Tesco along with a lollipop lane towel robe and wash mitt half price too :)

I got a manual tommie tippie one in the Black Friday sale on Amazon for about £10. I was thinking it would be small enough to carry around if I needed to express and if I need an electric one I'll buy it later on.

I still need

  • Snuzpod Co-sleeper crib
  • Car seat and base
  • Bath set ( I saw a bath that looked like a bucket is supposed to be like a womb, thought it looked cool!)
  • More towels
  • Bouncy chair
  • Cotbed mattress and bedding
  • Angelcare Monitor with sensor matt
  • Booby toiletries and maternity pads
  • Milton cold water steriliser

Some other small bits like more sheets etc but I think we have everything else. Family are getting a couple of items
