** April 2019 Testing **

I went to my GP after 1 year of ttc and told a white lie it had been 1.5 years and they referee me to fertility clinic where I went though all the tests and took over 1 year then I had 6 months wait for ivf plus another 3 to start so all in took me 21 months from referal, so I would highly recommend it as takes SOOOOO long
Oh wow that is LONG!!!
Definitely going to get referred to fertility clinic as soon as possible then x

We really had given up and I do agree with you that a lot of it comes down to luck sometimes. The cycle we caught I'd ditched all supplements except folic acid/vit d and was doing opks only. We only dtd twice that cycle on the day of pos and 2 days after. It really was the least hard we'd tried in 3 years. I also had no early symptoms and only tested because my period was late for the first time ever! I really had no reason to believe that that cycle was the one.

Even if we hadn't caught, stripping it all back really did help me mentally so it might be a good approach for you.

For us: Started fail cycle January 2019 (when af was present for jan 2019)
Feb month was my d2-5s and d21s & swobs
March month was sperm analysis
We are now on April. He has his 'scan' May & Sperm analysis 2 June.. no word of my scan but i was only referred in March upon hearing Sperm results. I was hoping to get my scan April but now its a case of *hopefully* May. For us somethings happened every month so far

Good luck on Thursday @chattychar1990 i really wish I hadn’t have told my GP we have been TTC since May 2018 because I’d have def told a while lie before now. When I last went in Feb they told me to go back in May so I won’t be too far behind you on the tests... thinking of starting a fertility testing thread for newbies as I’m clueless as to what it’s all on about and what tests there are x

This is a great idea. I have to go back to docs in June if i’m not pregnant by then and they will refer me to the fertility clinic.

It is long but that's the average wait time for NHS I am afraid. I think most ppl are at least 1. 5 years from referral to starting there 1st round of ivf .. I have friends who live in Wales and there wait for treatment for even longer. I think it's better to get referred earlier as the time it takes to get through all the tests and waiting times you would have been ttc for 2 years anyway and they say after 2 years it's time to seek help ! We had our 1st round of ivf at 2.5 years ttc .. We would still have another year of waiting to start of I hasn't gone to GP and told a white lie. I am so glad I did. Now we just have to hope one of these frosties are our take home baby!

If you want to know anything about the fertility tests and or IVF let me know. I've been through it all so I've learnt alot in past week while A x

I don’t get ivf on the nhs in my area so after 1 year of ttc and a few months of blood tests, I just took myself to a private clinic. It’s more expensive but I don’t have to deal with the waits (for them to end up charging me anyway) and I feel more than just a number there.

So sorry Sydney...
Sorry to ask but what is the DHEA?
Published research by CHR has shown that women with diminished ovarian reserve (due to advanced age or premature ovarian aging, POA) tend to have abnormally low androgen levels, and that a good androgen level is essential to development of eggs in the ovaries. - DHEA is often recommenced a few months before IVF, but is still quite new. I think my ovarian reserve is good but I just waned to maximise my IVF but I've decided to just stop taking it now.

Sperm analysis is back. His count is 60 million, motility good but there are some deformities.
My oh went to doctor and wouldn’t let me go with him, he got back and said I wish you’d gone now. (Brilliant) he didn’t understand much of what was being said. The doctor was very vague about results and wouldn’t say of good or bad. Quick google and count is on the lower side of normal I think. He’s really worried about the deformities so we aren’t really any future forward and no idea if it’s good or bad results. Any ideas ?

We can log into an online record and view test results there... can you do that with your GP? I have all the reference ranges from my husbands result if that helps.

Thank you hun. My OH is well up for getting a doctors appointment aswell and i said i would mention it in my appointment on Thursday. I'm not sure if they like to see you together as couple or separately. I think i may tell them i am on my 12th cycle and see what they say. xx

Char if you attend the appointment together, you can both be given your test forms at the same time - this is what we did.

If you want results in person, he would need to be there for that as the SA is his test. I went for another reason after the tests and asked about my husbands SA but they couldn't tell me. But then remembered we have online accounts and we got his result that way.

Hi guys re: this testing. Some Questions I have & My experiences.

Firstly, i TOTALLY agree we should have a TESTING thread 100% behind this..

We are based in Milton Keynes & I went when AF hit January, i was on cycle 13 then.. They advised we booked a double appointment but they didnt have that and i knew about the 2-5 bloods and wanted to get in that day.. So it was an appointment for me but DH sat in. In the end in our experience, he didnt need his own appointment. They did my 2-5s and 21s and then referred DH for sperm analysis they did not require him to go in for his own appointment to get this.
So for Jan/Feb we had 2-5s and 21s bloods & swops to check if i had STIs (jeez).
March we had the sperm analysis
Thats where we are so far...
Now waiting for my scan & DH has sperm analysis pt2 June & a scan of his area (due to count issues May).
Personally found them pretty quick so far.. if i need IVF tho i intend to pay for it Privately (only being honest).

My Questions:
did anyone manage to get a AMH for free? how? when? what part of the testing period?
after scan of my area, will they do a HyCosy on me? This is something im very keen to have - privately its £450-

I've taken another test this morning and got a fainter line than yesterday.
The bleeding is still there but very minimal. The blood is darker but I wonder if it's because I slept.
I obviously can get pregnant but can't hold on to them...
On top is yesterday's test, at the bottom today's.

Sadly we can’t do that with our doctors. You have to go in and see a doctor. My oh didn’t think to ask for the details as he was thinking he was the problem with the morphology. He is a typical man that doesn’t go to doctors bless him.
I’ve asked him to request the details so fingers crossed He will x

I think it’s slightly fainter than yesterday’s too Kitana.

I’m only going by your signature but if it reassures you at all I had a mmc then a chemical/early mc then my daughter without having any tests or doing anything differently plus you already have children so you can do this x

I didn’t have my AMH tested until after my first failed ivf cycle (due to poor result at egg collection + quality) but from what I’ve heard some people have had it tested sooner.

Not sure about hycosy, I think the nhs tend to only do an hsg but maybe they would offer a hycosy if they thought it was needed?

The nhs in my experience did the absolute minimum.
