some info there if you can wade through it, seems like everyone has wanted a shot at israel at some point and its been invaded over and over again.

Would be nice if the jewish people had a land of their own imho, no other race has suffered such historical genocide...not just in WW2, I dont know loads about it but it definately has all the jewish holy sites..

I got invited but wont be going, shame as there are some really interesting sites to visit.

I think this Wiki page explains the conflict or at least the history of the modern conflict in the area in much more detail, and is more specific than just the history of Israel which was has been fought over for 1000s of years...for various reasons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli-Pa ... n_conflict

I also found information on the Balfour declaration which might explain the conflict. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balfour_De ... on_of_1917 At one point the Israelis and the Palastinians fought hand in hand to over through British rule and if it wasn't for the significant losses suffered in the 2WW then the British government wouldn't have handed control over to the UN.

Also the question of refugees isn't as clear cut as the you tube video makes it out to be.

As I said its terribly complicated but recent violence has ensured a whole new generation of freedom fighters for Hamas.

Problem is that the land that had been given to them already belonged to other people. And their aggressive settling policies puts Israel into the wrong. I don't condone violence and terrorism, and looking at Gaza now, or Lebanon a couple of years ago, and the countless attacks and wars and murders before, I fail to see how the holocaust experience justifies any of it.

Don't even get me started on this. Just because the Jews have suffered genocide does not give them any moral or religious right to do pretty much the same to other people. Yes, millions of Jews died in the Holocaust but they weren't the only ones. Slavs,gypseys,homosexuals,those with disabilities- members of my own famly died in those camps and were shot by Nazis. I don't know how anyone can condone what's happening in Gaza at the minute. How does chucking one people off their own land to make room for another lot solve anything?

As for all these Hamas rockets...you're talking about some guys riding round on scooters chucking homemade bombs across the border. Compare that with American-financed F16s in the Israeli army, it's like Willow getting into an argument with a rugby team.

The more I see of this, the more I believe that certain,Zionist factions simply want the Palestinians extinct. It's sickening. A zealot,or an extremist,is just as bad be they Jewish,German,whatever.

This is quite true, too. Interestingly, Zionism - the movement for the Jewish Diaspora to push for their own country - was founded by Theodor Herzl before the 20th Century Holocaust. (You might of course argue, that there was persecution before the Nazi Holocaust, as the whole of Europe certainly didn't treat their jewish population nicely). None of this justifies the terrorist campaign by the Israeli Government.

I still believe had Yitzahk Rabin not been killed (by an orthodox jew btw), the situation over there might be better and there would be a bigger chance of peace and cooperation between the Israelis and the Palestineans.

sorry i obviously dont know as much about the conflict as you guys,
i guess i have a strong sense of jewish suffering with both my grandparents being jewish pows, and most of their familes being wiped out! so i guess i'm a little more sensitive!

Its a hell of a history to go through! I thought that the jewish were in iseral first! apologies for getting this wrong. (will get wiki to update!)

Anyway, my bro flies out today...i hope all will be well (hes a prime candidate for kidnapp with his job!) I'm sure that all faiths will be praying for peace, i know that outwith the gaza strip most people get on well and want no part of their government/militant groups/religious shite to get in the way!
