My beautiful girl and I have finally been admitted to hospital regarding her feeding. Shes been the most sicky baby from birth and many of you will know its taken me alot of fight,9 milk changes and umpteen visits to our gp and finally a paediatrician referal to get us here. Ive asked and asked and asked again if she could have an intolerance and ive been told no, dont be silly, she doesnt have the associated diarrhoea blah blah blah. Last week her consultant agreed to change her onto nutramigen2 and we are a week in to the new milk and todays admission. Shes already started to increase her feeds from 12oz per day to 23oz yesterday. Hopefully we can continue with more today. Her very sever aversion to the bottle is taking time to over come but fingers crossed we are finally on the right path!!!! Whilst we are an inpatient we can see a dietician and speech and language therapist. There is physically nothing wrong with her but I guess they need to check there is nothing in her mouth preventing her swallowing. I am certain everything is fine as it appears to be more behavioural and bottle association.

It breaks my heart to think that for the last 6 months I've been forcing her to have milk which has been leaving her in so much pain whilst nobody would believe me or support me and offered more and more ranitadine, gaviscon and domperidone. She may not need any of these meds soon as if im right the lactose intolerance is similar symptom wise to reflux.

Everyone said she would eat when hungry or not to worry as her weight was fine but my god they never had to sit and pin her down to even take 1oz of milk. Ive tried everything and last night my oh and I estimated we have spent atleast £100 on different types of bottles. Not to mention the washing.....god the washing machine should start to feel like its being neglected!

1 week of nutramigen and after hitting rock bottom shes turrned a corner all of a sudden. Excuse me whilst I go off and kartwheel up the corridor of the kids ward cause so far today shes had 14oz!!!!!!!! Hopefully seeing the specialists today to see where we go from here. Im just so pleased we are at last being seen and they are starting to believe us. I look forward to a time when I can enjoy feeding my princess again. Sadly we cannot ger back the last 6 months whuch have at times been a living hell. :(

Nit one for saying I told you so but....... :banghead:

so glad you are finally being listened to and are now going to get the right diagnosis.

poor DG. But hopefully soon feeding her will become the pleasure it should be and you can join in with the weaning fun! x

Hugs. You've done brilliantly so far - glad things are looking up for you and gorgeous Daisy Grace xxx

What a weight of your shoulders to finally start getting answers, must be a lovely feeling to think you will have a happy baby soon who smiles when she sees her bottle! X

Aww hun, sorry you didn't get any help earlier!

I suspected very early on there was something up with my Harry, at first we thought colic, then silent reflux (no sick) before finally seeing a HV at baby clinic when I was at the end of my tether after 5 weeks of breaking my heart watching him scream in pain (can only imagine what you and your girlie have been through for all this time!) I explained what had been going on and she straight away said try lactose free milk. We have to buy it for 2 weeks before going to the Doc to get it on prescription (OH is coming to fight our corner) so we put him on SMA lactose free and I can honestly say after his first 3oz bottle he was a different child!!

He's been on it since Monday afternoon and we've had no screaming episodes what so ever! He cries if he's hungry, tired or bored .... thats it! He's started cooing and even smiled for the first time yesterday at 5 weeks 3 days old!!

Going lactose free was the best thing we ever did for our little man and i'm really glad you've finally been listened to xxx

Well done you for not taking no for an answer. There is nothing better than Mothers instinct xx

I know ideally you wouldn't have had to fight so hard to get to this point but hopefully things have turned a corner now hun!

Big hugs

xxxxxxxx

Glad they are finally checking her out.
Hugs to you and Dg.

So glad your on the right path to getting your beautiful girly sorts with her feeding. Alltho it's ridiculous that its taken this long for it to happen.
Me & Harry sends massive kisses & cuddles to you both xxx

So awful for poor Dais Grace. Let hope this is a new start xx

Thank you everyone. Im so glad the paediatrician listened to us. Im actually excited that shes seeing the dietician tomorrow. Sounds ridiculous I know but really we have battled about 90% of all her feeds till now. The good news is she had 7oz at breakfast time. 7oz at lunch and then we offered 7oz at 4pm-this time thickened with carobel as nutramigen is very thin and she is used to thicker reflux milks. She refused that bottle and I thought we were bk to square 1. However she took 3oz and I then decided to make up another bottle without carobel and she took 5oz so in total 8oz!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant believe it. We are amazed. Soooooooo, whats going on with textures then? Maybe she still associates the pain in her tummy with the thicker milk.... I actually have no idea. She baffles me. Im totally glad she's had more milk though even if it does make me look like a right fool. She is generally much happier and contented today than she has been for the last few weeks. I even left her with the nursery nurse whilst I nipped for my lunch. Came back and she was giggling!!!!!

Now waiting on her daddy getting here. Im convinced he will think we have swapped Daisy Grace with someone else who looks like her!

If I could have a vino id celebrate! !! Anyone willing to have one for me? Xx

When Harry started his new milk we stayed with my Sister over night. When we came home OH actually said 'have you swapped him?!' Lol. The change in them is amazing isn't it!
