So had my final GP appointments now.

Everything is fine with me on the bloodwork and smear side of things.

Hubby's testosterone was fine, so it's just his spermies.

Hated this doctor too... he couldn't have been less interested if he tried. We got a blank expression when we went in and there were loads of awkward silences where the GP was thinking we'd finished and we was waiting for him to elaborate on what he just told us. We had a 20 min slot and we were in and out in about 3 minutes.

He said he'd refer us and we'd be waiting 2 month for them to contact us and this is just for further diagnostics like scans, not actually discussing starting treatment

I've filled out a self-referral form (who knew such a thing existed?) for Nottingham CARE because it looks nice so it is now a waiting game to see what they have to say.

Ok, well now i'm overloaded with forms and appointments

I have an Nhs scan on the 17th Feb.

I have a private scan on the 1st Feb.

Obviously i'm going to have to cancel the Nhs one.

Then i've got a private consultation at CARE on 15th February.

I'm also trying to get referred to Nottingham CARE on the Nhs too and get them running at the same time and if there is no difference in timeframe then i'll drop the private and go Nhs.

Apparently after the consultation then we can go right ahead with treatment as soon as the paperwork is done and i get cd1

I think you ladies were right about the timeframe being no different, it's just the diagnostics ont he Nhs that takes forever and then making sure you get referred to somewhere that you like

Hit a bit of a stumbling block now though

Apparently the CARE Fertility unit isn't coming up on the referral selection, just Nuture (which is a different "brand" of clinic).

I told them it was an Nhs clinic and they should be able to refer me but no one seems to know how The GP's secretary doesn't know, the GP doesn't know and the CARE receptionist doesn't know.

Apparently it's between the GP and the PCT to figure out but no one seems to know off hand - so don't know if i will get funding for the IVF at Nottingham but it has the best success rates for people of my age group and circumstances.

I have thought about nurture but care have about 20% more success rate for under 35s and my friend had a bit of a bad experience with them.

It is still on my radar, i'm starting to get a bit conscious that i messing people around though - making appointments and things.

I've phones up the PCT myself and got a number of the commisioning manager but she left early for New Year It was about lunch time i phoned her too, i mean how early do poeple need to get started on the party

I hope you manage to sort it all out and get your preferred clinic, sounds like 2011 is going to be a good year for you, just think scans in Feb, say treatment around March...... this time next year you could have a new baby celebrating with you x x x x

I was hoping that this xmas would be my last without a baby but i guess being heavily pregnant will do. We'll probably talk to it like it was a baby in our arms anyway.
