i even woke up with him next to me one morning not knowing i had been to pick him up! now 4 months is a little young to be climbing out of his cot, walking over to my bedroom and climbing into bed with me don't you think?! lol

at the moment my aim is to try and settle him by stroking his forehead and holding his hand (works sometimes) for the next week, then just holding his hand the following week, then just sitting by his cot for a week or so and finally move to just near the door, then out of the room completely. do you think this will work??

thanx for link beanie, i will read after i have had my dinner!

i have done that, though Seren only has to climb out lol. it spooks me out wondering how she got there.

that sounds like a good plan, will keep my fingers crossed for you xx

well at least he didn't end up in my bed last night - that's good! started off well. ruben's bedtime has naturally fallen to 7pm, and i used to wake him to feed him at 10pm then go to bed but in the last week i have decided to see how long he will go for without this feed, then put up with an extra feed in the night for however long it takes before he sleeps right through.

the last few nights he has been waking at 9.30, last night he stirred at this point but i managed not to go in and he resettled within 5 mins and slept till 1am. at which point my boobs were rock hard, and i fed him as he was rooting. then he slept from 1.30-4am. and that's where it started to go wrong.

i settled him by stroking his head and holding his hand, but he woke again at 4.45, 5.30, and then we finally got up at 6.30 as he had been talking to himself since about 6, and the talking turned to moaning and then crying. he was all smiles as soon as he saw my tired face peer over the cot rails though....

i managed to stick to my "no picking up" rule though, which is good.

Petchy I wonder if it's something to do with their age? Olivia has occasionally slept from say 10-5/6 but then she started going to bed at 8.30 and waking at 2.30 then 7 and then it seemed to all go wrong about 2 wks ago. She goes to bed anywhere between 8 and 10 (she always falls asleep on the boob, sometimes if I don't put her in her bed early enough she wakes up when I put her down and then she has rested for enough to make her wide awake for another hour or so), then she wakes up around 1 ish, 3 ish, 7 ish. I do feed her mostly when she wakes up but usually offer her a dummy first, if she takes it she re-settles for a couple of hours but normally she wont settle until I feed her.

Is Reuben teething Petchy? I can see a wee white dot and feel the top of one of Olivia's coming through so I'm wondering if she's waking up in discomfort from them?

I feel shattered!

not so good... woke at 9, settled with head-stroking and hand-holding. woke again at 11, hungry. feed, back in bed by 11.30, woke at 2 and 4 (settled back both times) and then at 6 - at which point i did what i said i wouldn't.. i took him into bed with me. slept for another 1/2 hour, then woke hungry at 6.30. he had a lazy feed laying down in bed, then we both slept till 8.30.

yes lucy, i do think he is teething a little, i can't see any teeth coming through, but he is grumpy, dribbling like mad and forever chewing anything he can find. tried dentinox teething gel, seems to cool his gums down a little. and he loves to chomp on a raw carrot or an apple wedge.

I feel shattered!
me too!! at least we can take comfort in the knowledge that we are both up at night, we are not alone!

Hi girls, i know how you feel! I am so exhausted its getting me down.
Keira is 14 weeks old and last time she was weighed she was 16lb 1, that was 2 weeks ago. Anyway Keira is now feeding every 3 hours on me and will not take the bottle.
I am trying to wean her on to the bottle as i am still feeding her but she wont have none of it! Last week i started her on baby rice(ssh dont tell the hv) but it hasnt made a difference. I dont know wether to try her on different food now too?
At night she wakes up at 1am for feed goes back down then wakes up at 5am! i feel like a zombie
HELP! I WANT SLEEP

I'm joining the club for a while lol Aaron is poorly at the moment, got an awful cold. To top it off he's also cutting another 2 teeth making 6 teeth in the space of a few months so he's up for ages and screaming! Last night he woke me up at 1am and it took me until 3am to get him back to sleep! He was up again at 5am, safe to say I am not used to this at all and it's knocked me right back! I need bed!!! lol Been out today and got him some Tixylix to try and sooth his throat as he has an awful cough, my poor little man!

well ruben's sleeping "pattern" is as unpredictable as can be. the last 2 nights have been better than it has been for a looong while. last night he went down at 7pm and slept till 3am (was half awake at midnight, but only cause he'd turned himself 90 degrees in his cot and had his leg caught awkwardly, once i moved him he was off again within minutes) at 3am he had a feed (my boobies were massive! used to feeding wayyyy earlier!) and went off again. slept until now (7.30am)! i can just hear him waking up - he's chatting to himself!

the night before he went down at 7pm, slept till 1am then fed. slept till 5.30, settled with a bit of head stroking and slept again till 6.30am.

is this a sign things are going to get better??? as last nigt was definitely better than the night before... and even the night before was better than he has been in ages...

crossing fingers!!!

Great news petchy, hope it stays that way :)

After getting much better for a while, Brody has gone back to waking up loads.
Last night he had 6oz of milk and went to bed at 9. I topped him up with boob at 11, so he must have been REALLY full.

However, he still woke up at 1, 4 then 6 (wouldn't go back to sleep at 6 either)

Great news petchy, hope it stays that way
nope... only lasted 2 nights, that's why i haven't bee on here much! he's teething and also has a really stuffy nose so he struggles to breathe...

i've given up now, resigned myself to the fact that he will hopefully sleep through at some point before he turns 18!

i was going to ask im too now having problems with frankie sleeping at night after she had got into a good routine of sleeping through she is now waking between 3.30/4am and not going back to sleep  doesnt matter what i try and do for her she just wont settle and im getting extremely tired through lack of sleep she has been on and off like this for around the past 2wks and its tiring me out :( any ideas?

the 2 nights since we have been here in norway have been GREAT!!! the 1st night he slept from just after we got here at 11.30-5.30, then 6-7.30. and last night he slept from... 9pm-6am! then a quick feed and we both slept till 8.15! first time i got 8 hrs sleep in one stretch since before he was born!!!

must be the fresh sea air! i hope this carries on when we get back to the uk!!!

Brody is being a night-time nightmare again!

The holiday has really not helped matters cos he just ended up in bed with me every night as I was knackered.

The is NO WAY he can be hungry when he wakes up...last night he woke for the first time at 12! He demands a feed, but it's only for comfort...has anyone got any ideas on getting him out of this habit?

How's everyone else getting on? Emilia...how's Oscar doing...Beanie...has Seren made any more progress?

Seren seems to have settled into waking at 2 and then again at 6, and I wake her up at 7.30am. Sometimes she won't wake til 4am but it is usually 2. Have got used to it now, I guess she'll sleep through when she is ready. Am still co-sleeping so it is minimal disturbance to me. Ii can't believe we are still here haha :D

Hi Urchin... glad you had a good holiday, but sorry that you didn't get the well deserved rest!

Out of the blue, Oscar has started to sleep for longer. He has been amazing for a week now. Goes down at 8.30pm... wakes anywhere between 2 and 4, and then around 7.30am. I'm definitely in some kind of routine now. He sleeps happily in his cot night & day, but I take him into bed with us early morning.

I did nothing to encourage this good behaviour, but I do think that it was simply a milestone that he's reached. I'm praying that he keeps it up - I'm heading for a glass of wine and Austin Powers......  :D

I don't know what to say to you - I struggled for so long, I actually gave up trying anything else. Perhaps it's worth follwing a strict routine for a week or so, just to help him settle again.
I keep my fingers crossed for you!!!!

Emilia xx

  Emilia I have just noticed that I have the same tickers as you. Can I put it down to we are both ladies of excellent taste rather then me being a complete copycat

I usually recognise someones posts by their tickers at first so you two are confusing me!!

I'm back here too! Glad that Oscar is sleeping better. Shame the holiday has messed brody up - I bet Eva will be the same after ours!

She is awake all night again and I dont know why? She isn't hungry she just wont settle properly. I have no idea what do to make her sleep better! She was going 9-5am before and now she is awake every 2 hours or so again :(

Last night:
11.30, 1.30, 3.30, 5.30, 7.30

I am knackered! I have so much to do today as it's Mason's birthday on Friday and party on Saturday. eeekk!!

Hope that little rascal zonks out for a few hours!!! Have you got anyone nearby that can take him for an hour or so?

Thinking of you today and sending snoozy vibes to Brody!!!

Emilia xx

He's been asleep now for about an hour so I've been rushing round putting my laundry away and washing on the line etc.

I tried not to feed him last night, I shushed him and stroked his tummy etc, he was having none of it :wall:
