The Gestational Diabetes support thread

Ooh 2 of you being induced on the same day, exciting! Good luck girls :)

LY - they can be out loads on the scans, they're never very reliable. My last scan said her tummy measurement was above the 100th centile then scan a few weeks later said just above 50th centile....doesn't seem right to me, I think the software can be out. Jaxx was predicted a large baby and hers was 7lb something. A least they're not letting you go past 38 weeks though...that must be reassuring. They've told me they'll let me go to term before induction if I can manage to stick with managing the GD through diet...but I'm worried bubs could get too big. I don't know these little ones cause us so much worry already don't they!

xx

Yep my boy was predicted to be over 10lb but he was a wee 7lb4 :D good luck all you lovely ladies!!!

Xx

I was told Stanley was 10lb + at my growth scan 3 days befre induction, but he was only 7lb 4oz :D I'm not entirely too sure how accurate those Scans are half the time!! Xx

Jaxx, how are you hun I remember you from when I was in tri1? I'm the one who had a suspected clot and had a CT scan....you really reassured me at the time because you'd been through the same.

Looks like we've had similar pregnancies as I now have GD!! It's reassuring to know that Stanley was delivered safe and sound. Similarly at some scans I've been told bubs is big but I know they can never be entirely accurate....a 7lber would be just fine by me! How far along were you when you were induced hun? xx

Hey girls, do any of you who are injecting insulin know what I'm meant to do about my meds if ill? I think I have picked up a tummy bug from my DS and can't stop heaving, I know I'm going to be sick I can't stop it but I'm phobic of it :( bah x

Thing is I don't want to carry on injecting when eating nothing and having bad hypos, can't get hold of the diabetic team either ATM xxx

I don't know myself hun, hopefully the other girls can help but just wanted to say hope you feel better soon! :hugs: xx

Oh hun! I hope you feel better soon!

I think you should avoid injecting until you speak to the diabetic team. At the end of the day, you are having the insulin to help you cope with the sugar. If you aren't having the sugar, then I wouldn't inject.

x

Thanks ladies <3 I managed to get hold of them in the end, they told me I have to continue with the background insulin (at night time) and basically decide myself if I need to take any of the rapid insulin depending on if I manage to eat / what i eat and what my levels go to etc. I have managed a piece of toast now but not taking any units. Thanks so much for the support <3 xxxxx

omg do folk just go out of their way to piss u off. im on the verge of tears right now. my prescription for the omnitest strips to monitor my blood has been done but the chemist dont have it and drs r saying they do. and the metformin prescription that was ordered yet again last week has not been done cos some gp thinks they know better than a diabetic specialist and thinks i should not be on both metformin and insulin so called the specialist up but a week later is still waiting on a call back. so im sat here with one test strip left and no metformin now. so my sugar levels r going to go all over the place again putting both me and bubs at risk. ive called hospital up and im waiting on a call back. to top it all off our rent is now gone up cos of this bedroom tax they want us to pay for three weeks till baby is due even tho we r using the room now.

arggghhh stressed

Oh hun! :hugs:

Thats all a little bit rubbish! I don't really know what else to say! But I hope the hospital get their acts together!

Just try not to stress. Thats going to put you and bubba in more harm than good. Have a nice walk, or take a nice relaxing bath or something.

:( that's absolutely crap babe :( I hope the hospital managed to help you xxxx I order two packs of the strips at once because the doctors are useless at getting the prescriptions right x sending massive hugs xxxx

Hope you're ok dragonlady & the hospital/doctors have managed to sort your meds & test strips. :hugs: xx

Aww DL, hope they sorted you out. Like OE said, get yourself in a nice warm bath and try not to stress.

Hope everyone's feeling good this morning?

Tapatalking!

Hi PP, hope you're feeling better now hun? Not long to go until induction...exciting!

I'm ok thanks :) My morning fasting readings seem to be getting higher, not sure why but other than that (fx) I'm managing to work out what meals I can have. Just hating brekkie...I seem to have to have high protein first thing and I hate it. Having a variation of either cheese on toast, turkey bacon on toast or scrambled egg on toast...just find it too heavy for brekkie & almost gagging eating it :( I just want my cereal or yoghurt instead & fruit! Can't wait to be normal again fx :)

Do you girls know if gavisvon or tums affect blood sugars? My acid reflux is returning!

On a positive... Sunday's going to be 18 deg! Finally some nice weather :) xx

fecking gp surgery. they have the fax from my specialist stating that i need to have the meds asap but the dr is out on house calls now till 4pm so i have to wait till then. and the other three gps in the surgery cant write the prescription as they have patients to see.

i finally got my prescriptions about time too. im glad i can tell when my body is having a hypo with out checking blood as i was having one earlier so i had a cornetto and that has brought my levels up to just ok.

Glad you finally got that sorted, hun! They took their sweet time though!!

Have spent today sorting bits out for next week. Can't believe I'll be in hospital this time next week preparing for Riley's arrival!

its scary isnt it knowing its only a few days away till u get to hold ur baby. after the long journey to get here i still cant believe its only 7 days to go now. i still cant imagine holding him and it being real.

about 8lbs they think but will have to wait and see. what about urs
