Shes a misserable minxy today where shes tired, ill have to let her sleep after her next food, but that will only be 20 mins, x i left the fan on last night to see if the noise helped her and it didnt lol
Its sooo not good for either of us, i wish Avie realised that haha!!
I hate gloating parents whos babies sleep through, i keep telling myself that ava will be a fantastic toddler lol maybe .....

Mids that is a fab article :) ive been walking around the flat in the night with baby hobbit on my shoulder, :)
even in the day she wants to be clung on to me, i try and rotate her toys 10 mins on the walker 10 mins on the jump around 10 mins in ball pool, she has the attention span of a flea, and doing house work is a nightmare,( well thats what i tell mik :D)
is seed very clingy?
Roll on walking when im going to try my hardest to wear her out hahaha!!! xxxxxxxx

Great article Midna :D

I am used to speaking to people now and they look at me like.....HUH?????....

I cant manage to string a complete sentance along right now due to lack of shut eye, and dont laugh...

I have seen Elvis sitting in the tree outside my window singing Daddies Home, hopefully this is due to sleep deprivation????? and I am not totally losing my marbles :rotfl:

Im soooo glad im not the only one whos little un dont sleep, it is very lonely because everyone i talk to have regular sleep, today im so exhausted, wheres Ava is raring too go! The strange thing in my case is that although shes been awake most of the evening, she dont want to nap during the day for long, she will only nap on me or when i rock her in the pram (daytimes) its so wierd, you would think she would be as shagged as i am, but no shes not!
Roll on weekend Daddy can have a go and me sleep all day :D

Bah... who needs sleep anyway..................?

me

Good article though, thanks. Gonna get a t-shirt printed for LO: 'Sleep is for whimps'

I haven't done the controlled crying BUT when she has a cry she sleeps much better! SHe sometimes puts me i a corner where I have no choice but the let her cry. She fights me if I hold her, lays on the floor rubbing her eyes if I put her down, so I put her in her cot. SHe cries for a while, then I lay her down, repeat about 3 times and then she sleeps. Other times she doesn't need to. Every night is different.

That is what the clinic advising me to do. Let her cry but not leave the room and let her cry on her own. Apparently, there is a world of difference between letting them to cry for 5,10,15min...on their own and when they cry while you sit next to the cot and whisper gentle things to them. And if they are crying on and off that is (apparently) a good sign of learning how to settle themselves. I was advised just not to let her get herself into hysterical constant screaming - if it looks like she is getting there I take her out and hold her really tight.

Midna, really good article - enjoyed reading it! Btw, have you read 'What mothers do - especially when it looks like nothing'? It is a fantastic book. Excellent when you feel down and not valued for what we do.

Hanna, is Eden teething again? Which teeth is she working on now? I think that Danica is troubled by the second bottom two. Had very disturbed night yesterday (up from 3-5am) and am thinking about giving her neurofen tomorrow night just to see if that is going to make any difference.

Saffydreamer, about your little one not sleeping in the day. According to the clinic, that is one of the problems why they don't sleep well in the night. I don't really understand it, but the better they sleep in the day the better they sleep in the night. And at our babies' age they still need at least 2 and a half hours of sleep during a day. I noticed this with Danica. When she sleeps well during the day, she usually sleeps through the night. It sounds so counter-intuitive but it is true for most babies.

Anyway, good luck all for tonight!

Forgot to tell you, my husband is in coming out from hospital tomorrow (nothing serious, he just had his tonsils taken out) and given what he is like, I'll have two babies to look after as of tomorrow. :( Just my luck! :wall: :wall: :wall:

HOw are your two babies Marijana?

We've have three good nights in a row so far... all different and different times, BUT it seems that Daddy is the bedtime pro at the moment. We'll see how long that lasts for but I was glad for the tiny weeny break. (all of 5 minutes) Been gradually gradually training her how to sleep and it seems to be working PLUS that she is getting older AND I pray frantically every night that she will sleep. But cannot predict what will happen each night. No pattern yet.

How is everyone?

Still not sleeping here :-(
the heat is making it worse, and last night she was major thirsty so drank lots of water and nappy leaked stripped bed and baby woke her right up :wall: :wall: :wall: typicall xxxx

SO everyone - i have the answer we all need....straight from my MIL.....

We have to DO things with our babies in the day time and not just sit around  then they will be tired and sleep all night

My LO is super active and always has been. Even some friends with babies say they are glad theirs isn't like mine because they would be exhausted. She crawls, climbs and walks around the whole day BUT apparently she needs more exercise then she will be tired.

I was so pleased with the advice. :wall:

Lol newmum, ive heard all that before, OMG AS IF Ava would let me sit around all day, she crawls everywhere she has the attention span of a flea and needs constant entertaining lol Some people are so funny!!!
last night we were teething with Avengence and not even Nurofen would help Minxy was awake from 12am until 5am :(
mostley grizzling and chewing like a canibal!!!
god i hope tonights better else i will be  standing up :D

You're alive ;) For me, she is sleeping in longer stretches which is great (about 4 -5 hours before waking) BUT now when she wakes up it takes forever to settle her again. Takes about an hour each time. :( The 3am one is best :(
And had to feed her in the night again even though she had started cutting it out. Don't really care anymore if she changes her patterns. If she is still waking for a bottle when she is 3 then I'll consider it a habit :) Now if it settles her in less that 1 hour I'll do it.

How much does she sleep in the day Midna? I found that when she sleeps badly in the day, she sleeps badly at night and vice versa despite people saying to cut her naps in the day. (Apart from MIL :) who says she should sleep about 2-3 hours in one go at lunch time like most of the other babies. ha ha ha. like that is EVER going to happen)

Awwww Mids    That bad huh!!!
Mum said it will pass when they are walking and have all there teeth, im not so confident! last night was crap, woke up every freaking hour, then when its time for me to get up 6am the ratbag had a lay in until 8am i swear shes mocking me!!!!!
shes now playing on the floor in her bedroom with a couple of bowls and a spoon lol I totally dread nightimes! Spoke to my h/v and she said let her cry it out, but i cant, so i guess im gna have to live with it! Im so tired all the time, poor Mik its like i have constant pmt :D xxxxxx
Newmum Ava has 2 x 20 mins naps if im lucky and the house has to be super quiet!!! if shes in her pram and we are out she will sleep a bit longer, or in the car!!
Also Ava has the 3am habbit, :(

I'm so tired

lil miss has taken to having a 3 hour morning fuss between 4am and 7am (thats the time I need to be up for work), I thought it was a phase... but its been 3 weeks now and shows no sign of stopping... Not to mention the 12am feed she still has.... so I am sleeping from 1am to 4am then I gotta get up and work 6 hours a day and I still full bf'd lil miss (less her solids of course)... I'm shattered... can't get a nap during the day...

We are starting this strict routine thing... making sure she gets up at the same time every day including weekends and goes down the same time... is it working? is it fk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall:

Im peed off, My cousin who i love to bits has a girl 3 months older than Avie, well saw her today and she was yawning and moaning how knackered she was, i said is Ruby keeping you up too, she said yea, she woke up at 2am for milk then was awake at 6am, i was like omg that would be heaven to me, id be willing to get up at 5am every morning if it ment Ava slept through! And yea Mids your right, the h/v answer to everything is letting her cry, i would be crying with her if i could hear her getting distressed! :(
Avas is excellent at going to bed, we are very strict bath, 6pm Book or quiet time at 6.30 then milk at 7 shes always asleep by 7 (i bet ive just jinxed myself :wall: ) just goes to pot from 9pm onwards! there must be a solution somewhere!! When she starts walking im going to run her round the park until she is so knackered she wont have the energy to open her mouth to winge :D :)

Im joining you as well now - the official sleeping all night is over, lady bug has been up 2-5 times a night the last 3 weeks an although i know shes teething im not sure thats the only thing making her wake everyone up, she just wants milk all the time and i, up now having just bounced her off to sleep.

Omg cant be doing with this much longer, its making me so ratty!

o dear mrs T
I was awake the same time as you were last night? Ava was a rat bag last night, a ambulance whizzed past our house with sirens blaring and woke her up at 10pm just as i was going a bed, she wouldnt lay down in her crib to sleep wouldnt drink milk.water, even put her in the pram was walked up and down the hallway to try and settle her but nopers, she finally went to bed at 1.15am and woke up yet another time from then until 4.45am where shes been up since,
God i hope this is just a teething phase! Mik made a mistake of yawning in front of me, and im so ratty i went mental at him oooopsey xxxxxx
