Jade do you manage to fit 8 scoops in the TT powder dispensers? And do they then still fit in the bottles?!

They won't fit in the bottles. but I just about fit 8 scoops in. You have to knock the bottom a bit and wiggle it IYKWIM!

Evie was already having 8oz bottles so now I just add 2 sachets to it. I presumed that if you have a 6/7oz bottle you add 1 sachet and it's just as effective but im not sure :?

Hmm dunno, the instructions say for over 10lb in weight use 2 sachets and do not mix with less than 8oz. I think they purposely are trying to make my head hurt

Oh. I've been told to use one sachet in our 7oz bottles. Ho hum.

You, me and Jade seem to be living some sort of parallel life.

Connie got diagnosed with reflux at hospital on Friday night. She's been on Gaviscon since and is a completely different child. Rather than drinking 3oz she's doing at least 6 and she's started sleeping through. Also she doesn't seem full of air and puke between feeds - she was just chucking up over me and herself all day before :(

I'm angry that this has taken as long to diagnose as the bl**dy lactose intolerance did. On the plus side my doctor is so concerned about MY mental state that she's referring Connie to a paediatrician dietician type person - not quite sure what that's supposed to achieve but she seemed concerned that Flod reacted badly to the Nutramagen.

Hope everyone's doing OK xxx

I know bad isn't it! I am so angry that it took 4 months to get this sorted. Looking back now, I think it was the problem all along. My mental state has gone down the pan a bit too - hopefully I might have turned a corner now Phoebe is getting sorted out finally :(

What milk is Connie on now? Interestingly I read somewhere that reflux is often caused by a milk allergy.

So... We're on day 2 of the Gaviscon today. She has been better, but we still seem to have a problem a few hours after feeds, this is normally when the sick comes up all watery and smells acidy.

I also got a nice little surprise earlier... A poo like, guess what - playdough! Thats right, I could have moulded a sculpture out of it :shakehead: I have given her a bit of juice today. I am assuming this is constipation? I don't think she had problems passing it but can't be completely sure as she was also back arching and puking around the same time.

Gem - if I were you I'd take him back. You know him best.  Thats the one thing I've learnt over these months. Mum always knows best, my own HV even says that to me, yet did she listen?

Not necessarily. Becky's nappies have been like this since she started on Gaviscon and she doesn't have problems passing it. Spoke to the GP and he said it's normal and not to worry unless she doesn't pass anything (if anything she's going more!) or looks to be in pain.

About the 2 sachets - we're only on 7oz bottles but adding 2 sachets on the doctor's advice. 1 sachet had no effect whatsoever when I tried it. If you look at the instructions breastfed babies can have 2 sachets (and obviously you don't know how much they're getting).

Oooo cheers - i am quite pleased if its normal and doesn't cause her pain as its easier to clean than the horrible explosive ones we had a few weeks ago

I have another question  Water - do you give it to your LO's? Doctor told me to give a few oz a day but only about 1oz at a time. But I find the water is worse than milk for coming up.

I haven't given her water since we had a hot spell in June. I find it seems to put her off her actual feeds. If I try to give her only a small amount she'll scream blue murder until she's had about 6oz worth and then not want a feed for 3 hours :wall: .

Edit: I shouldn't laugh but this afternoon she did a poo that was perfectly cast into a bum shape :rotfl:

lol that's what Phoebe's was like. I had to peel it off her bum! :rotfl: TMI maybe haha

lol. When trying gaviscon Coreys poops were like that too. Cheep playdough.

Now on the neocate there grey :puke: very odd.

I found water comes up easyer too. He took it better with abit of juice mixed in. 100% prune juice i used to 50/50 with water on advice of MW, HV and GP.

He dont bring up the neocate tho!?!?!? very odd. Its very thin, and iv used no thickener at all, he just dont throw it up ne more - I dont know if its the Domperidone, or... CMP intolerance mabey!

Bit of a bad night tonight, she's been sleeping on my lap for the past 2 hours. She obv brought something up and then couldn't breathe through her nose :( i tried to clear it with the nasal aspirator but she was panicing, so i had to stop. in the end mummy cuddles and letting her sleep upright for half hour sorted it out. her nose is clear now. its happened a few times recently but not as bad as that. she ends up doing really long sniffs in her sleep, then not breathing for a bit then long sniff etc etc. I hate it, if we didn't have the movement sensor I don't think i'd sleep at all at night. I really didn't realise all of this was connected until I saw that GP on Monday :(

Anyone else suffer with this?

PS sorry I've posted on here so much, just nice to be able to ask questions

Yes, Corey had the same problem!!

When feeding he would offten cough and splutter, as he could not breath thru his nose because it was blocked. That and snorring at night

On the meds he hasnt had the problem at all. Poor thing tho - there so little, they dont know whats happening!! :( And its hard for mummy  xxxx

Connie's have always been like that  I call them "prism poohs"... but yes they are definitely bum shaped.

The chucking up 2 or 3 hours after feeds COULD be a milk allergy Lara... have you tried Nutramagen? I have a tin I can send to you if you want as Connie's problem doesn't seem to have been the milk but strightforward reflux.

My doctor says they grow out of all this by 9 months I was like    NOT a good thing to say to someone who can't see past the end of today!!!

Aww you're really been through it Bex. I'm sure things will sort themselves out. I hope the dietician person has some answers for you.

Might take you up on the offer of the milk, will see what the doc says first as I've already changed her milk once this week LOL. Haven't I always said I thought she had a milk allergy?!!? We'll see, I may of course be entirely wrong :rotfl:

Off back to the docs tomorrow for more gaviscon. Its def helping with the puking. ..

However, today was a very bad day. Screaming almost constantly from one feed to the next. Something somewhere is just not right, my poor poor baby. She's quite snotty so then I thought maybe she has a cold as well, but I can't remember her screaming to that degree last time she had a cold - and now she's asleep I can no longer hear snuffling, its kinda come and gone all day.

When Toby got home from work she was still screaming, its so high pitched as well, we tried calpol, bonjella and finally a feed even though it wasn't due. She then settled a bit before I got her to sleep.

I am going to question the doctor on the milk - maybe the switch back to aptamil 1 hasn't helped.

All I know is I just can't go on with days like today, I can't cope with seeing her so upset.

Are you sure it's not a growth spurt?! Evie has gone from taking 4 bottles to taking 6 in the last few days- because she wasn't due a feed the other day I couldn't work out what was wrong until she drained a 6oz bottle!

yep summer seems to be feeding more at the moment, she is having 7oz at a time at the moment!

Evie had a growth spurt around 12 weeks too- have you had her weighed recently?

yeh last week, she was 10lb 11oz which i guess isnt big for her age?

:D she's a diddy one too. Evie is only 12lb at 16 weeks :D

are you noticing she's gained more since being on the gaviscon? evie has but I'm sure thats cause she's not puking up half the bottle anymore!

yeh she has definately gained since using the gaviscon but like you think its because she is no longer puking loads

I'm tempted to go and get Becky weighed today... how often do you guys go? I need to ask about our prescription too - we are going to be away on holiday when it's due so I won't have enough. Do you think I can put it in early?

pretty sure. It's a different cry plus she's on 6-7 bottles already. We've got a doc app this morn for more gaviscon I'm gonna get him to check her over.
