Gem - 19lb is a good weight for 6 months tho aint it?! Im trying to think, mohercare would not sell my friend a forward facing car seat til her LO was 19lb, and she was 9months when that happend... and shes a porker, bless her. (unless iv been sucking on that crack pipe again, and im chatting shit... or you were being sarcastic, and I totally missed it  )

Ahhh, its OK Lara - hes not losing weight, infact hes gaining it right along the 25th line at the moment, OK so he was born on the 50th, but hey. I have started weaning him too, and he takes more solids than I ever thought he could fit in - hes never once brought any of that up either :cheer: so with the fruit/veg thats extra vitamins n stuff the pead said. I was sceptical at 1st, but, hes doing fine, and loves his puree's!! Also theres usually about 2oz in the cereal/crushed rusk that I mix with the fruit, so thats gotta be counted too...!

I was out with a friend today who has a refluxy baby, and he didnt stop puking and screaming all day. Makes me realise what Corey used to be like, I feel so sorrry for her, and her GP is also crap. I sent her to A&E this afternoon, so we'll see how they get on.

 's to all that get screamed at while trying to feed their little bundles of joy!!

We did a little better today I think. Not sure why really, maybe because we were out most of the day? Sometimes that helps sometimes it doesn't. Daytime sleep has reduced from about 120 mins total to 60, but part of that is because we are at the inlaws and everything is fascinating to look at as we don't visit that often.

She's being sick even less than when we first started on the Gaviscon so thats good.

Still not sure if she has a cold or not, but the not being able to breathe is making things worse.

Infacol has done sod all so far.

Hope we are all doing well over the weekend! I'm shattered, been up since 5am - not because of Phoebe but because my bro's drink was spiked

yeh sorry his a cracking weight (corrected age 91st centile) (actually age 75th centile) i puely ment that his slowed right down , he was still gaining a 1lb ever 2 weeks right up too 17lbs when he was 22 weeks !

Hello Girls I was wondering if you can help at all. Little Austin was born 8 weeks early on April 5th so is about 12 weeks corrected and currently weighs about 11.6Ibs. He was diagnosed with reflux when he stopped breast feeding after just 5 mins and pulling off the breast screaming but also wanting to eat more. He lost weight after a few days of this and had a dry nappy after 6 hours so they put him on gaviscon for refux. This turns his poo to rabit poo so I have to skip a few feeds a day if I can. My problem is that in the last 3 weeks he refuses the bottle (couldn't get enough in breast feeding) after just one slurp. I leave him on for as long as possible as I know he will refuse to tae more after e has been winded. Sometimes he wil take more if I ty him again over the next hour or so but often he just refuses any more and has to make do with 70 or 80mls :( (2.5 oz's) I battle all day long with trying to persuade him to take more milk and always have a bottle on the go. It really sucks (or rather I wish he would). This is such a nightmare and means of course he is nowhere near to sleeping through the night and wakes often twice as needs more food. Not sure if this is reflux related.

Does anyone have any insight or have any of you had this too?

This is a great thread girls. Sorry you are al having a hard time too

Evie doesn't have any problems in taking a full botlle- it's keeing it down and not being in pain she can't do

If I read that right (I've been up all night with a hungry baby  ) then could it be that he is having trouble with the bottle? I read it that he was fine breastfed but won't take much from a bottle...

Have you tried a sippy cup? Or a bottle esp. for breastfed babies? Someone (Valentine  ) posted a pic the other day- it looks like a boob

 If I have just talked a load of tosh and completely missed the point : SORRY! :)

try a faster flowing teat hun thats what my gp reccomended

Sorry my typing was terrible on that post!! He was okay breast feeding when he was tiny but a few weeks ago he would stop feeding and scream after just 5 mins, he'd seem to still be hungry but would pull off screaming and started to loose weight. I went on to bottles after this as he would usually take the most during his one bottle feed a day which I always did. He definetly takes more now I am bottle feeding as has been gaining weight slowly where as he had started loosing weight on the boob.

I tried him on so many different teats and bottles you wouldn't believe it. The best I have found is tommy tippee with vary flow teats. It' not a teat/bottle issue it's something else. Doesn't sound like it is reflux related then.

God I'm lost

Could be worth a try - but didn't work for us as Phoebe just can't cope with faster flow teats, she chokes and swallows too much air. E.g. Dr Browns 2 were too slow, no 3 were WAY too fast, so we are now settled on TT no 2, but even they are a bit fast really and they're supposed to be 3 months+ !!

Which bottles are you using?

TBH I've always had a similar problem with Phoebe, not to the same extent but it is a struggle to get her to drink enough milk, she normally drinks enough to stop feeling starving then isn't interested. GP I saw said that its a common problem with reflux. Her advice was just smaller feeds more often - this is totally not ideal, but I have found that Phoebe is a lot less sick if she has little feeds more often. She is also worse at feeding if there is loads to look at, and I know this is gonna sound really bad, but sometimes she is happier to feed for longer if she's watching tele

Is your HV any good? You could try asking her for advice. Also, does he still seem to be in pain? It could be that the Gaviscon isn't doing the job alone and he is getting pain when feeding.

I found that too- I have to burp her every couple of ozs as the flow is just a bit quick. Evie definately wouldn't have been able to cope a month ago! :shakehead:

Girls have you tried TT vary flow teats?? They are awsome I found they were the perfect compromise. Austin taes more when he sucks harder at the start of a feed or can feed gently in his sleep (by best trick for sneaking more in) as the teats adjust the flow with how hard your baby sucks. They are pure genius!!! :D

Yep, I am not sure if they were any better. Apparently Phoebe is a strange feeder, she suck suck suck suck swallows unless she's starving, then its suck swallow suck swallow. So with the variflow it all spurts out of her mouth! Might try them again in a few weeks tho

Tip of the day. Don't lift a reflux baby above your head (she likes to fly lol) I ended up with sick in my hair, in my eyes, on my nose, in my ears and down my chest :puke: :rotfl:
