On a Wednesday evening I take dog training classes. There is one lady in the advanced class who has always been a bit of a challenge- argues things for the sake of arguing, gets very defensive if you tell her she's done something wrong no matter how I go about it and at one time she even pulled a face at me! Seriously, are we in school?

Anyway, I can put up with that, been teaching classes for long enough to let it go, but last night she went too far and I am one step away from throwing her out of class (and hoping she lands on her stupid face!!)

Long story short, she rewarded the dog when she shouldn't have because she felt bad because she accidently stood on the dog's toe. I explained why she shouldn't have rewarded the dog then and she argued the toss with me (as she does, no big deal really) I explained again why it was the wrong time to reward the dog and she then said and this is the bit that got me...

"I hope your not going to be this mean to your baby!"

I came back with the utterly genius response of "well I'm not going to stand on my baby"

to which she replied "I bet you do"

I didn't respond to her then and just carried on with the class, but since then I have been thinking it over in my head and now I am raging at her! How dare she say that to me! How dare she make such a rude, personal comment to me when all I am doing is what she has paid for me to do!!!!!!! One more stunt like that and I swear she won't bloody know what has hit her... she will feel my wrath... my hormonal, pregnant lady wrath!!!! Grrrrrrrrrr!!

Rant over now :-)

She sounds like a cow and I'd boot her out of the class... she sounds like she knows it all so I'd tell her that if she doesn't like what you teach and the way you teach then she should no longer attend! I do feel sorry for her dog though for a)being stood on and b) being given mixed messages re. rewarding.
Hope you manage to relax a bit but I do think you should let her know at the next class that her behaviour crossed a line! Its not the dogs who need training, its the owners!

Now that I have had time to think it over I know exactly what I will say to her if she says anything like that to me again and it will be way better than yesterdays effort of "I won't stand on my baby!" (Cringe)

what a cow!! I,d chuck her, what a horrid thing to say and what's the point in paying for training if she,s not going to listen. Idiot.

See, you can always count on the lovely ladies of PF to make you feel better! :-)

Oh my days! Head butt the stupid woman! Poor dog tho!x

She is just so infuriating (sp?) Neither of the other instructors can stand her and half of the other members of the class hate her as well, I have no idea why she comes really! There are only two people who chat with her on a Wednesday and at agility classes on a Monday, no-one talks to her, yet she turns up week in and week out. God, now I sound like I'm at school!

Boot her out hun!! You don't need the stress and to be frank if she doesn't like your training methods then she can go and find a dog trainer who doesn't mind an argumentative, 'precious' owner!! x

Cheeky cow! I would have been RAGING!!! I think I would call her and tell her it's not working out and she needs to find someone else to help her train/step on/ignore instuctions for dog!!!! xxx

Get rid of her hun, you don't need the stress in your life x

I second what everyone else has said. I'd send her packing. She sounds like a friggin idiot! X

If she says anything like that again, I will be telling her in no uncertain terms that I will not tolerate someone making personal comments about me and I refuse to teach her and she is not welcome in my class anymore!

Next time she says anything, just say to her in front of the class 'you are always very emotional and aggressive and respond in an inappropriate manner to direction, is there some problem that perhaps I, or the class should know about?' If she then comes back with a stupid comment just tell her that you are the professional and she is not and therefore you've reached your limit and she ought to find another class to attend.

I'm sure everyone else in the class has noticed it too and I bet that they feel that there is an atmosphere with her being the class and will probably feel relieved if she goes!

Good luck hun, dont let her stress you out, remember its your class and she is only there as a guest.
xx

Boot her out now....she sounds mean and ignorant I doubt her attitude will change, make sure if you do put her straight And she becomes argumentative chuck her out then, it's a sign if she can't see what she's said was inappropriate she won't change!

Good luck!

i feel sorry for her dog.... clearly there is a reason she is at these lessons... and i dont think its to do with the dog its the owner... I would have told her straight but im very fiesty at the moment. well done for keeping your cool and for the Fab and quick off the remark comment!! Just give her the boot if she carries on! do you really want to teach someone like that? or even have someone in the same room as you? Glad your a little more chirpy babe its not nice when you sit and dwell on what people say.
xxxx if not i agree with some of the ladies just Nut her one haha xxx
