October 2018 Testing Thread

Fab, congrats Radley!

Fingers crossed for you Kitana! :dust:

Crumble really hope AF doesn't get you and you have a late BFP :dust:

So CD15 today, my OPKs are nearly positive this morning and had a temp drop to 36.12, so hoping my OPK will be super positive tonight and ov will happen tomorrow I'm guessing! x

That's strange Kitana.
Do you have amazon? You can get same day delivery or next day delivery with them or even ebay to get one. Try and get a test if you can with a lower miu. The lower it is the stronger the line will be at this time.
Really hope it is it for you hun x

This one was the earliest they could deliver... I think they don't sell such sensitive ones here ico of a chemical. The most sensitive we can buy is a 25miu.x

Do they not understand the importance and urgency of us ladies want to test early :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

Hate it too! I used to fly long haul and could have gotten them in the states! But now... I'm stuck on short haul flights. But I understand that they want to protect women against the loss of a chemical. I think I've had 2 in my life and only one was confirmed and only because I had my blood tested. It's sometimes easier to not know...x

Oh yea 100% - it can be totally heartbreaking testing early and seeing that line and it end in a chemical. Sometimes you just have to take the positive out of a situation <3

I keep trying to work out if it's worth testing early. While a CP would be heartbreaking would it be better to know I can at least get pregnant? It's so hard. When I started thinking about TTC I had never heard of CP. I guess it's something people don't like to talk about but that must make it harder for the people dealing with it.

Abi - it all comes down to personal reference when testing early. But early can mean a lot of things. When is early to test for you? What dpo was you thinking?

I was thinking the 19th, 12dpo. It would be the day of my missed AF if I hadn't ovulated late. Its also the day my sister arrives for a 2 week visit and I would love to know either way by then but at 12dpo I might not be any the wiser then anyway. I'll probably end up cracking and testing everyday from then. As it's the first cycle the novelty hasn't worn off yet

I don't think 12DPO is too early, if you are using a FRER then you should get an answer one way or another then. :dust: x

It's not a Frer but it says early detection: 4 days before missed period but then says 15 days after ovulation? 10IU/l anyway so may crack and buy a few proper FRER. Especially since I've just had a good look and the instructions are all in German! Ic of course!

Pregnancy test is schwangerschaftstest apparently, glad I don't have to ask for one in Germany, that's a bit of a mouthful!

12dpo isn' early at all and tbh you will most likely get your answer at around time after ov. I always test the day before AF is due.
Some ladies do though only get their positive after AF is late but the majority of the ladies using a FRER will get their answer at 12dpo.

Abi - Its so hard to really tell, as some people pick up something really early and others dont until after AF was meant to arrive. As char said, its totally personal preference.

If i was in the testing game longer, i would personally hold off until af was due to arrive. It saves a test and also disappointment seeing a bfn, when it might not actually be.

I tested at 10dpo and got a bfn and was gutted, tested at 11dpo and got my bfp, some people get a bfp at 9dpo, but as you said, testing early and you do run the risk of having a cp.

I think at 12dpo you would be safe picking something up if you did catch <3

Abi internet cheapies are useless. Are they the one stop ones you get with your opks? If so i wouldn't use them. They say they are 10miu but they don't seem to show a line way after AF is meant to be due. Some ladies don't get a line until after they get a positive on a digi which proves they aren't 10 miu.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks! I'll go for 12dpo but with a proper FRER. Thanks for the advice. I would hate to be disappointed by a bfn if I didn't have to be

Ladies that temp/chart I need your help, is ov always 2-3 days after your temp drop? I've had a temp drop today at 36.11 (yesterday was 36.30) and my OPKs last night and this morning have been high, close to positive. Is it most likely that I'm still 2-3 days away from ov, or has anyone had ov happen sooner after temp drop? It's my first month temping! Thanks x

Em from what i learnt from the other Emma (baby.3) You will have a temp dip (which will be ov) and then 3 temp rises in a row once you have ovulated. The dip will then confirm ov.

I think test when you want to. If you get a positive then amazing and if not then you just have to wait a little longer. A lot of posts on here show that until af comes you really aren't out so I'd do what feels right for you xz

So I still have cramps and feeling boiling. I wondered if I mag have a uti so did a urine dip. I had abx a couple of weeks and it cleared up. Urine dip was pos for protein (trace) and leukocytes were off the chart so there is an infection somewhere. Then it got me wondering if a uti can give a false positive frer. Some sites say it can (but not how) and others say it can't.
Seeing my gp tomorrow about my back anyway so will ask him. I was be destroyed if a false positive has occurred

Ah thanks, just googled it too and i get it now, it's 3 temp rises taking you over your cover line after your dip confirms ov happened. x

Good luck with the GP tomorrow, fx its just a simple UTI (horrible things) and they can sort it so you know where you stand.

UTI are very common when you are pregnant, don't worry Radleycat!!!! Congratulations darling :yay:
