Night feeds

I had a great night h went to sleep about half 11, he stirred at about half 4 but I left him and he slept till half 7!I do hope this is a sign of things to come!

I am seriously shattered. Blake has gone from feeding every 3-4 hours to every 1.5-2 hours! I don't know why. I'm sure he's just being a greedy pig because he projectile vommed all over us this morning. He hardly leaves room to breathe he feeds so frantically.

Can't wait til he sleeps through!

seems like tegan n noa has calmed down abit haha i feed noa once or twice nowlast night it was 4 hours but the night before he went 7 n a half hour.

ray i know its not nice when they do that, i had a nightmare wit noa for 2 weeks, perhaps let him wait 2.5 hours between feeds. . i made noa wait 2 hours (he was constantly on the boob)n it works, its hard the first 2 - 3 times but he soom get used to it n it will be better. i dont mean just let him lay on his own screaming, but cuddles, play (best is if your oh take that shift as he cant smell you then) n even is its hard, wait. yu get the price in the end xx

i remember when we were both moaning about them being constantly on the boob, tegan has decided that she doesnt like formula the HV wont be happy when i tell her x

We had a rubbish night, she wasn't tired. So at 2am after hours of rocking, feeds and nappy changes I laid her on her Moses basket mattress, put some pillows down for me and slept next to her. I was patting away at her for ages before she finally dropped off.

At 8 I took her to bed with me once DH had got up for work. We laid in til 11 so I don't feel rubbish.

Routine is starting on Wednesday when I can have some support from DH.

Thinking after tomorrows weigh in I will be introducing formula at night x

i do that haha in the mornings when noa wakes up, i stick hin bed with me once eba gone to work n let him feed on me while im sleepin haha then we wake up 11 ish :)

Charleys getting better, I still dream feed him about 10.30 then he sleeps till 2.30-3.00 then wakes up at 6 so I put his dummy in then he wakes again at 7 when we get up! I'm still shattered though! I can't wait to get a whole 8 hours sleep!!

Campbell is being a pain tonight!! I am trying to give him a bottle at 7pm and putting him in his bed to drift off on his own. It has worked a couple of nights but tonight he is having none of it! He definately has his days and nights round the wrong way. Normally we will give him his last bottle at 11pm. He then wakes at 3.30am and 6.30am for two 3oz bottles. I then put him back to bed until I wake up around 10 as I am knackered by the end of it all!!

When you guys say 'dream' feed does this mean you dont wake them up and they just feed?

I suppose waking only at 3.30am isnt that bad. I am getting used to it but I would love to try and cut it out. I like the idea of giving him his dummy but he is quite clever and only uses it normally to settle himself. If he is hungry he spits out the dummy... "you cant trick me mommy!"

any ideaS?

xx

When I dream feed charley it depends if he's completly asleep or semi awake with what I do! If he's completly asleep I'll leave him in his cot but put bottle in his mouth, he drinks it in his sleep so don't need to wind him then he'll sleep till his next feed. If he's semi awake I'll feed in his cot but during the feed, if he starts making windy noises I'll bring him out for a burp then continue feeding him in my arms then put him back down!
Charley goes to bed at 7.30 and if I don't dream feed I don't know when he'll wake up and don't wanna go to bed myself only to have to get up a hour later to feed him! That's why I dream feed when I go to bed so I know I'll get at least 3-4 hours of decent sleep! It's worked really well for me so far!

Oh okay, cool. So he should stay in his bed while I feed him? What if I can hold him without him waking would it work the same?! Sorry if thats a stupid question.

xx

good thread and its good to know that Im not the only one up in the night.

Ellie takes a 4oz bottle at 9pm then at 12midnight - 1am she wakes for another feed but sometimes only takes 2oz but its normally the 4oz and then she normally goes to 6am the only problem that I have is it takes AGES to settle her in inbetween feeds sometimes she is awake/unsettled from the 1am feed to the 3am feed!!! but she is only 6 weeks and only been home 2 and a but weeks so I hoping that it gets easier x

It's fine to hold him if your affraid of choking etc! Charleys mattress is tilted due to reflux so it's easy either way, keep him in or hold him!

what defines sleeping trough? 8 hours no feed?

its so nice now when noa dont poo after every feed, means i dont have to leave the bedroom night time as that wakes him up.
2 mornings now demba have just took him n gone to change him when he goes up at 5 (i know he should hes the daddy, but normally i would have to ask him :wall: ) then he just put him down with me for a feed.
only thing is tho noa n daddy have play time 5 in the morning chattin away is wakin him up n it take longer for me to settl him back to sleep, but i cant blame them, they dont have muich time together.. point was ^^ lol, im happy i dont have to leave bed very often night time now :yay:

For me, I'd define sleeping through as the baby sleeping between 12 and 6.30am as anything between that i'd class as night personally. I think it's whatever you'd class as you having had a straight through sleep yourself.

Blake fed every hour last night. I was a zombie by 7am. Shaun took him downstairs and I got to sleep until 10:30. I feel human again! I think he's got his day and night all mixed up because he didn't wake until 12:30. It meant I could actually brush my teeth, have a shower and straighten my hair and not feel like a complete minger!

My friend was round last night who is a nursery nurse who suggested giving him cool boiled water to try get him to feed less often. Does anyone else do this? Is Blake too young for water (he'll be 5 weeks on Sunday).

I tried water but charley wouldn't take it through the night so I think he was actually hungry!!

well Ellie is 6 weeks (1 week corrected) and when she was in the special care unit she got cool boiled water, and today I gave her some baby juice, the ready to drink stuff diluted and she LOVED it xx
