Muscle's Mummy Diary ..

I'm glad he is growing out of it now.
I have found the aptimil pepti for sale in a couple of places online but was worried about buying as thought only doctor would prescribe. Will have to make an appointment xx

Ohright I mean you could try it.... but then if your gonna need it I would get it on prescription. Carters milk is 50 quid online and it's a small tin (as is pepti) usually a 400g tin as apposed to 800g) we went through like a tin every second day I found he ate more because it was broken down digested quicker so don't be alarmed if she takes a bit more when trying that milk.

Likewise if you do get it and no difference then you can go back and either try a further broken down milk or the neocate that we have or whatever else gp suggests. Pepti is the one most like baby milk though the other two smell horrid. Aptimel do a lactose free one too but no experience on that.

Such a nightmare I used the comfort the reflux stuff cow and gate then all the specialist ones lol. Milk connoisseur lol.

If no joy perhaps ask for a referral to dietitian if like all avenues are explored. They might help more.

Good that she tolerated the porridge I genuinely think its your luck with may contain I have been quite fortunate right enough only ever the organix baby rice reacted to and they don't post on the box I assumed as it wasn't on box it wasn't a factor but apparently is when I looked online lol you learn loads in this process if anything.

PS alot of people tend to use a thickener with a specialist milk like gaviscon or carobel or thick and easy but under 2 gp prescribes that
Most people prefer carobel. We had tonnes of gaviscon just used that. It's more because the milk is so thin so if the rash gets better but a bit puke or regurgitation look into a thickener for it.

Xxx

Oh I see, so it's ok to buy the pepti, I was worried it was prescription only and they were dodgy sites selling it. It is quite expensive sonwoild get from GP but might try it first. We won't be using a lot of it as she will still be having milk from me but it would be handy to use in some baby food where needed to save me expressing, also, we want to try her with the bottle but it's a bit annoying expressing it all and then she won't take it so if we have the formula I can use that. I'm glad the pepti is quite like milk too as I imagined would not be very nice.
She doesn't seem to get in terrible pain when she has had the milk, she is uncomfortable for a bit and is so sick, she has a tiny bit of it but brings up loads, seems ok after that. She is not a sicky baby at all usually. I knew as soon as I saw the rash around her mouth that she had an allergy to it.
Thanks so much for all the insight and help, it must have been so hard when Carter was going through it all, it was bad enough on the few occasions she has had it xx

Yes it's fine. I just went through GP because this was all new to me. I didn't actually know about the cmpa until his 6w check. Prior to me raising issues with feeding and what I thought was reflux I was told was colic and dry skin for eczema. So turns out yes he had moderate reflux caused by the cmpa. Luckily he didn't vom just a face rash but he screamed and screamed obviously because that was all he was taking in it all built up once we were a few weeks on the right milk and meds it was amazing. I had to delete the videos I have of him upset though because even looking back I get upset and angry but then I found all this out myself and pushed for it and I'd have loved for someone to have told me all this when I found out. Another mum friend I have her boy was born a month after Carter and was cmpa she was on pepti and steroid cream and now just neocate but she was none the wiser too.

I shared a video on it from BBC. Some people don't see it as a big deal or that oh it's a crying baby what do you expect but it's so much more. He'd scream for hours attacking his face I had to hold him and his arms down to feed constantly upright rubbing him. Couldn't even tell people in the end the issue because when I did I just cried. Obviously not everyone goes through what I did but the reason I did is the lack of care or notice for it. It took me going to a&e videos of him attacking himself and me in tears for them to promptly act. The guy we seen at a&e was so annoyed that gp told me to put olive oil and e45 on his head it was basically a crust. Half his hair fell out although you wouldn't think now lol.

But I'd have never have guessed people go through what I did when they say about a dairy allergy. I'd have thought bit of sickness no biggie but it has the power to mess with your mental health. I got to the point I didn't want to feed him because I knew id need to pin him down then hear him cry for hours. Luckily my logical side seen the detachment symptoms and it made me less emotional more angry and luckily we are fine now.

They say you never get two the same though so I mean I should have seen it coming. So people like to remind me when I try to explain the diff in my boys as a baby. People just say oh never two the same. You immediately know they haven't first hand experienced a cmpa baby haha.

Poor girl. You seem clued up on it anyway. Hopefully you see some change with some other milks.

xxxx

My goodness, that makes me so sad that he (and you) went through all of that. Sounds horrible, so glad you got the help eventually though. I would never have thought it would be like that either, I always thought of allergies as a rash or the extreme, swelling of face and tongue etc.
I will buy some of the pepti for sure and give it a go, hopefully it will be fine for her xx

Imogen did that with her silent reflux:( she used to hit herself in the face and then scratch up her face too when screaming:( awful isnt it. You feel so helpless. She would be in so much pain after her bottle it would be heartbreaking! Luckily we have no issues at all now since weaning which I was very lucky about but god the first few months were so hard. xxx

So sad what you went through with him :( poor baby and mummy. People do totally dismiss allergies but they can have such awful effects on everyone! I'm so glad he's coming out the other side.

Your boys are just looking too big and cute. Jackson sounds like he's doing really well at school, well done him. How can carter be one in a few days though? That's just went too quickly!

Fab on your weight loss too, you look amazing! Hope being back at work hasn't been too bad xxx

Me too. I just think stitch when Will Smith has a super puffy face lol. Ige is immediate rash on either digest or contact. Non ige is like delayed symptoms. He had both so hed get instant rash then grumpy and wind for days but that all left when we switched milk. Hope the pepti works out lisey keep me posted and I'm here for brain picking.

Millie it is absolutely awful. I can't even explain fully how bad. I actually at one point thought he was suffering from sandifers syndrome due to the pain because he would jerk constantly and always attacking his eyes sneezing loads hiccups about 50 times a day and he cried each one. I honest commend someone who's survived reflux lol. Glad to hear she is much better. A lot of people find success with early weaning. I wanted to do blw but I did attempt and he wasn't ready. He had first tastes about 5m but wasn't arsed then his weaning didn't fully take off until about 8m and that's when we felt comfortable enough to wean off the meds. He's not even on gaviscon as a thickener which I miss kind of as he did nice clean firm poops that didn't trouble him. Now it's just a big mess for me lol.

Thanks Leah I don't quite feel amazing but I am proud of myself for sure. I used to be a frozen food eating full fat coke drinking chocolate binging lazy ******* but hate full fat juice and all fresh prep lean good food so for me I needed the lifestyle change first but the weight obv too. It's hard to ever feel happy but I am getting there stopped wearing big frumpy clothes but took them pics to actually believe I was smaller if that makes sense. My belly albeit smaller still 'looks' the same so sometimes it's hard to feel proper good. Hoping to tone and I'll be happy.

I don't know how the hell he's 1 already. He let go of sofa tonight and took 5 steps towards Jackson then butt planted. When I got the camera out he just kept dropping and crawling over. I have got his 1 year check next Friday 1 year jabs a week on Tuesday. It's all happening. Not seen a HV since Carter was 6m. Even then because I'm 'low risk' I get a nurse out - apparently the HV are for people who need more support etc. But still it's the same lady we are used to so quite happy. My actual HV's mum is allergic to cats. I have 3. She makes me put them away when she comes because she goes to her mums after work. I used to do it. Struggling with Jackson a baby wrangling the 3 cats then they claw my carpets so quite glad she doesn't come. At the time I was too fragile but if she ever makes such a ridiculous request again I'll be telling her no sorry they already ruined 3 carpets if you are scared of any cross contamination from homes you should wear a uniform. End of. Lol.

Oh and Carter cut his first molar. Prob about 9 or 10 teeth now I can't count he just bites me.

My boy is 1.

How did this happen? I've went into shock!!

Here he is all ready in his birthday PJ'S. Sadly no plans tomorrow as I will be working half day and Jackson is at school so we will be celebrating at the weekend/oct week when his brother can join. Presents when I get home then we will do the cake a bit later when my mum and inlaws visit.

He's a spoiled boy. I mainly got him clothes as he needed them my mum got him clothes and he had some vouchers which I'd got some toys with so he has some things to open.

I need a bigger house it's not even xmas yet then it'll be Jacksons birthday luckily this year he will be after smaller expensive toys. Carter is at the stage all his make noise and take up space.

We didn't need much and don't for Xmas for him as he already has so much from his brother. All his walkers and toys came out so he won't know what to do with it all. Because I don't.

This time last year I was in the birthing pool still just breathing through contractions at 8cm dilated and no G&A yet. He came after a long float in the pool, arriving at 0503 at 8lb exactly.

Aww happy birthday to the little man, he is just such a cutie. I can't believe how quickly time goes by!! One already!

I am with you on needing a bigger house. Wish we had an extra room to have a play-room rather than having most of the toys in the living room xx

Aww I missed your birthday, huge belated happy birthday gorgeous carter. Look at those cheeks!

I'm dreading all the toys starting again. I got the joiner to put a cupboard into the baby's room and I'm keeping it empty in preparation for all this

Hope you've managed to do something lovely this weekend xxxx

Hi all

Not been on in a good good while.

Super busy with work, Christmas and just life

Boys are doing smashing.

Jackson is just battering into school quite the thing. Need to take full advantage of dark nights and put him to bed a bit earlier (than 2030) because a few weeks ago he dozed off in class and the mornings can be touch and go until the fresh air hits him then he just runs! Hes coming on great with nurture.

Carter is full blown walking now so is in at absolutely everything. He has been taking steps since just before his first birthday, but since then he has been non stop. He loves keeping up with his brother. He can say a good few words yet and is quite often copying the sound of the sentence that you say to him.

We had parties this weekend. My cousin's wee girl was 2, it was a soft play one and one of Jackson's class mates, had tattooing, face painting, so many kids and a DJ/host. Was really good. Jackson stood at the side and took quite a while to join in he only joined in a couple games. Carter on the other hand as soon as we got in wanted down and just ran about the dance floor with his hands up and down giving it a wee jive. Although I was knackered I loved just seeing them out. So stressful though  OH says "well this is what you signed up for..." I says well yes, that's true, it is also what YOU signed up for so the next few parties are your go  walked into that one. :p I prefer to take them tbh, me stressed is one thing but if David gets overly stressed he literally just leaves.

Cannot believe it is almost Christmas again, this year I have been proactive and bought in all the big stuff required. Jackson has a Wii (he is Mario obsessed) although he didn't ask so I tried planting the seed and now he is asking for a Nintendo Switch - which he is just too young for atm imo. He has a nintendo 3DS XL from my mum too, so thats enough consoles. Hes asked for "all the track masters" which are Thomas engines and range from £10-20 and of course the ones he has is the more expensive ones  His birthday is January too. Carter just has a few random things, he can't really have anything "big" as such. He just had his birthday as well, so not much needed. Thankfully.

Big Christmas clear out has begun - I basically binned all my toiletries and a lot of kitchen clutter last night. The living room currently only has sofa, TV/unit, Highchair and Table. So next is the boys room tonight then Ill do my room and the cupboards over the weekend. Christmas shopping is started and I have also got my living room paint/wallpaper, so hoping to get that done before we get the tree up... IT'S CHRISTMASSSS! Hope everyone else is equally getting sorted?

Here is some recent piccy wiccies!

xxxxx

I can’t believe how big your gorgeous boys are getting. They sound like they’re coming on brilliantly, carter sounds like a super social butterfly! I’d definitely make the most of the dark nights with Jackson, they don’t even notice when it’s so darker. Harder when they’re 9 and can tell the bloody time

I’m nowhere near as organised as I should be for Xmas. I really need to get a move on!

Hope you get your living room all done before Xmas decs go up. Let us see a picture when it’s all done!!

Xx

It's so funny how they are like chalk and cheese. Jackson I think might have a bit of sensory issues although not sure if he does or I'm being overly paranoid he socialised with people but every single party he covers his ears screaming when they sing happy birthday so that party on Sunday was huge and I went to get him before hand and I found him behind a door screaming (couldn't hear him over the noise but proper mouth open screaming) covering his ears. As soon as I took him next door he settled down. He doesn't like anything loud so I'm wondering now if it's just something sensory related? Carter was face up at the speaker and disco lights trying to eat them. Good thing I put a disco light on the xmas list for him.

Carter is soooo heavy. His 1 year check was like 25lb. Jackson has always been a wee long baby but Carter doesn't look tall. He's been in 12-18m since 11m though partly belly size partly length. David was a big baby though he's more like David I think. See Jackson more like me.

Ah you have an excuse you are baby orientated. Last year I was basically getting out of hospital with Carter after the uti when he needed lumbar and stuff then I was dead and still getting over the whole new milk and teething with that. My xmas I don't remember it feeling at all xmasy but I feel it this year for sure I'm usually last min but with work and kids I can't afford to. Jackson wants a party in January so need to book and pay that soon. My drier is on its last legs and Carter ripping my wallpaper off. Hence redecoratin now. It's going grey (surprise) feature wall with white glittery trees and then matt white walls. It's currently slate grey and Plum so I just want fresh and white. May be bad idea with a toddler but either way it needs cleaned or done so won't be any less work.

xxxx

Aww loving that idea. My front room is grey either black and white trees as a feature wall and purple curtains. I'm totally in love with my room lol sure you'll love it to

Hope you all had a good Christmas - we had a good day, boys were spoiled and we had a lovely family dinner.

Happy New Year to all you ladies and gentle-babies.

Had a much better year than last year, and Im sure will have a much better year in 2018 than this.

Hope you all have a fabulous one when it comes.

My biggest boy is 5.

He turned 5 on Tuesday. I cant believe it *sob*.

We had a party at soft play (his request). He had a ball and managed not to cry during the Birthday song which he has done at every single party we have ever been to - so I'd been quite stressed about it. He had and great day. About half his class showed and friends and cousins but I wasn't expecting alot at this time of year. He did ask for a party though. It was after school so meant quick change then they had dinner there then home presents and bed, plus the venue had two other kids besides us for half hour and the rest he had completely to himself and friends so meant Carter could wander freely.

We went to the carnival too a few days before his birthday. We normally go on his birthday every year, but this year we went earlier and Carter came on some things. It was a good day. I uploaded his annual we pic per month for 12m but had to split it into two since the app didn't let 12 in. So the one with 3 pics on is Oct, November & December.

Carter turned 15m on 9th too! He is so wild but it's funny and cute. He's either bringing the house down or laughing like mad so no inbetween. Like a little Taz. Jackson just sat and played nice. Not Carter . He's been walking constant for 3m now so quite good at it. Runs about and even when he falls right back up and off not batting an eye lid. Always wants what Jackson has or vice versa so that's been fun over Christmas and their two birthdays . Carter is saying quite a few words now or having a good go of ones. He can identify things that he can't say by pointing and will go to his cupboard get his cup and come say gink. I dunno if Carter seems a bit quicker than Jackson or that time is just going so fast and I can't really tell but just seems I blink he's doing something else. He climbs up and down things quite easily and the other day I caught him on Jackson's blue plastic chair arms out like jesus. If I hadn't just about shit myself (and had a phone on me) I'd have snapped it. Dunno how he managed but he sat down when he seen my face as if "oh shit here she comes" he's such a wee boy now it makes me sad. They keep me on my toes though. He has 2 final teethies cutting which is bottom fangs. That's another thing he did quicker than Jackson and his molars came in before other front teeth which was odd. Glad the teething saga will be over V. soon though.

We are slap bang in middle of decorating so my house is upside down and I literally feel like a cat all out of sorts. My livingroom is out of bounds so everything from livingroom is in hall which is normally empty and boys play from their room hall and livingroom so I feel confined to the bedroom because they can't go in kitchen. It'll be done at weekend hopefully then we can tackle kitchen which shouldn't be as long to do. Peeled off the paper to find my wall had a big space at the corner so we had to plaster that and it needs another coat then sanding then a final strip over it and painted. I'll be glad when it's done.

xxxx
