Mummies Running Club :D

It's the south London 10k which is on Wimbledon common. It's ran by energized sports in Association with shooting star children's hospice. There was one on the same day in Greenwich which would have suited me way more but is sold out. Ive read mixed reviews on this run and I'm not looking forward to the trek it's going to be to get there (2 tubes to Wimbledon then a 20 minute walk to the common) but I exited to be doing another race. I went for a run this morning, just over 6 miles and managed an average pace of 9"57 peer mile. :)
I really hope your injury gets better soon xxx

Im sure it will be worth the travelling once youve done it :)
Well done on your run this morning, get some hill work in if you can, helps get your legs stronger and can help get those pb's :) x x

Ive been naughty and decided to go on a run even though im not meant to!
I tried the hop test earlier today and i never had any pain so decided to go a steady short run to see how i got on, it felt niggerly at first but it eased.
Iced it as soon as i got in so my fingers are crossed that it will be ok in the morning x

M2A that is very naughty! I really hope it's okay in the morning. Let us know! Xxx

Woohoo, my leg isnt sore today, ive been a bit wary this morning as every step i took i expected pain but so far so good x

Hey Sassy  how are you? Have you been out recently?
Just wanted to wish you Happy Anniversary hunny  x x

Thanks hun, hubby is taking me (and C lol) to a nice hotel this weekend (he was working on our anniversary) Glad you're not in any pain today from your run.

Well I finally got myself out for a run yesterday. Felt good to be back out. Was only out for about 15 mins but pleased I did it :-)

Rednursie not long til your next race

Ooh, have a lovely weekend Sassy and well done on getting out :) x x

M2A that's fab your not hurting! Sounds you are well on the road to recovery :) Sassy that's fab you got out. Have a fab weekend celebrating your anniversary, sounds lovely. I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of runs around London. This might sound mad but I'm thinking of signing up for a 10k on New years day. It's at 11am so not too early and it's a miracle I'm not working so I might as well make the most of it. Really desperately need to find some half marathons though for January or Febuary! My new training plan starts on Monday. Xxx

Round London, you would think they would be plenty to choose from, where do you look for your races hun?

Im going to attempt another short steady run tonight, fingers are crossed I wont feel any pain. If not im going to sign up for the Liverpool Santa Dash the week before my 10k, its meant to be great fun :) x x

I look on runners world and lately have had a look on running diary. To be fair I work some weekends so may be one or two on tht just don't suit. Also there seems to be a lot of charity 5ks on between now and Christmas which isn't really what I'm after. Might just have to travel as there seems to be 10ks in places like Hertfordshire &Buckingham. I think though with my 10k at the end of November an if I do the new years day one in Hyde park that should be fine as long as I get a half marathon before end of February. The Brighton half marathon is on the middle of February so that looks very likely the one I'll do. Could get the train down in the morning or maybe book a hotel for the night before. Might be a nice little getaway, I really like Brighton :) xxx

Been out this morning, o how ive missed my sunday morning runs. Done a nice steady 10k just hoping my calf/shin stays ok now x x

Had a lovely weekend away :-)

Got out again today, did just under 4 miles with quite a few hills thrown in. Felt good to get out, weather was sunny but with a little nip in the air, really enjoyed it :-)

Glad your shin felt ok today m2a :yay:

Well I'm on a roll, I've been out again. I jogged to nursery with C (harder than you think with a buggy lol) and then ran back so did about 3 miles. Gotta do it again this afternoon to pick him up as hubby has the car today. My legs don't know what's hit them

Hello ladies :)

I've still been out running but been crazy busy and tend to lurk now. How's the injury M2A?

I've had someone close pass away recently so have decided to try and get in the great north run next year to support the British lung foundation. Really hope I get a place and can't wait to start training for it!! Also did a 5 miler the other weekend and did it in 53 mins which I'm so chuffed with but I found it incredibly hard so need to do more interval and more endurance work.

Hope all the rubbings going well for you all. Sassy running with a pram is proper hard. I've done it a few times and walked most of it.

Well done Sassy, look at you go :) very brave with a buggy, id end up falling over it!

Well done Mel, your 5 mile time is fab :) hill running will help you get quicker too.

Calf/shin still seems to be ok after my 10k on Sunday :) feeling a little down in myself to be honest but im sure getting back into my running after my injury will help. Planning on going out tonight then on Wednesday im off out twilight trail running with the girls - cant wait :) x x

Wow sassy that's impressive. Don't know how I'd manage running with a buggy. That's fab mel you've been getting out. I'm very jealous of your times!
Sorry your feeling down m2a. I hope it passes for you :hugs:

Ladies, ive got a bit of good news :) A friend of mine is a run leader and started a beginners club a while ago, i bumped into her this morning and she was looking for someone to run another training day so she has said she can get me trained up and I can take another class, i can pick the day, the time ect. So fingers crossed it will all go to plan and sometime in the new year i will be a run leader and have my own little running club :) x x

Aw that's great, how exciting!! What will your training for it entail?

Well I've been for another run, yes I know, it's a shock to me too (and my body) hubby still had car so I took C to nursery then ran home. Car is now in for service so waiting for it to be finished and if not by 2pm, I will be running again to pick him up.

Its a training course which covers the below
*Looking at barriers to running and how to overcome those barriers
*How to develop a session & session components including risk assessment, safety, goals and reviewing practice
*Managing your group to include all abilities
*Session planning, different activities to include, importance of variety
*Goal setting
*Warming up and cooling down
*Correct stretching for running
*Common injuries and injury prevention
*Footwear
*what being a leader entails

Well done for getting out again Sassy :)
Im twilight trail running with the girls tonight x x
