Long termers 6 months or more

Hi ladies, just got back from Copenhagen, been busy this month celebrating dh’s 30th so I haven’t been on much and then I didn’t have my phone for a whole week as it was broken!

Now I’m back I need to decide, do I go ahead with the clomid or ask to be referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic due to the 3 chemicals? I don’t know, dh doesn’t know and the doctor said it was up to us, it could just be pcos as the other preliminary miscarriage tests haven’t shown anything but then again, we don’t want to spend money/ waste time on clomid (the dr will only allow me to do for 12 months in total over my life) if it’s going to end in mc. Anyone got any thoughts? Feeling pretty lost at the moment xx

Just popping by to say hello

Sorry for your loss Sugar, You must be so heart broken. Thinking of you

Nikkk hope you and bump and keeping well!

I'm 4 weeks in to my 1st cycle of Ivf. It's been tough but almost at the end. I was worried I wouldn't respond to the Injections due to my low amh but my scan on Friday and today confirmed I will make it to egg retrieval this week as I have about 6 follicles ready and some more still growing.SSo my body for once hasn't let me down.. .in shock!! so currently on day 13 of stims and to take injections for 2 more days and then hopefully be in theatre Friday. I got a sick line for 4 weeks as the side effects are kicking my arse and I feel mentally drained by it all.

Never been so scared of failing anything in my life.

A total of 33 injections !

So glad it is going well for you, I’ve got everything crossed for you this end, you deserve it xxx

So today was a roller-coaster of emotions.. We got 7 eggs collected from 11 follicles. I am feeling really bloated and crampy still. It was pretty emotional just before they gave me the sedation, I was sad that it was actually happening which meant we had failed to get a natural BFP in 27 months of ttc and here we were 1st round of Ivf.

Got a nervous wait for this phone call from. The embryologist tmrw. I feel sick with worry that none fertilise.

I am in so much discomfort . Its national women's day today so I guess it was a good a day as any to.be a strong women warrior fighting their battle

Hey @SugaryIris whats holding you back from going to the recurrent miscarriage clinic? And what does it involve... blood tests or something more intrusive?
I think I’d want to explore that in case it’s something really simple that could be fixed. All the way I’ve been really scared of test results and had to talk myself into going for them.
I’ve not been offered anything like that, my GP and consultant just assume everything is down to my age (42) which is why I’m now on IVF. I’ve three friends who have all had kids naturally in their early 40s so I find it frustrating that it wasn’t investigated for me.

The good thing is that you have options so don’t feel lost. Hopefully someone here has faced the same dilemma and can help. Big hug xx

Hey sugaryiris, my experience with the recurrent miscarriage clinic was that they actually found a couple of things that they could easily fix that gave me a better chance of a successful pregnancy next time. It may be that you have the tests and nothing is found as they say 50% of couples get unexplained and if that’s the case you still have the option of clomid to help with a strong ovulation and a good chance at a successful bfp. I think given my experience I would have the tests just to rule anything out xx

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

I think you’re right, I maybe should go for it and go for the testing, I don’t know what’s holding me back, maybe just the thought of spending 6 months or more having further tests/referrals to get no answers.

I’ll speak to my doctor on Monday.

Thanks everyone for your messages So sorry Pink I just read some more of the posts on this thread. Heart breaking for you. There is no love too small. Keep in going

I had 7 eggs collected and the embryologist called me this morning to say 6 have fertilised which is a good result. We are going to 5 day blastocyte transfer after on Wedensday. I think the diet and supplements I have been taking to improve egg quality must have paid off as I have low amh and this is a very good result to have. Woop woop!

Not sure if we are transferring 1 or 2 yet haven't decided. We will find out the grades and what embryos made it to that stage just before transfer.

Sending my love to all the women Warriors out there. This ivf is so much harder than I ever imagined X

@Alexis2017 that is great news. Sending love right back to you. I keep dreaming about the number 6 so I'm hoping that means I'll have 6 fertilized as well. I'm just about to start the injections as my period finally arrived. (phew!) Thanks for sharing your experience so far, we're all rooting for you xx

@LucyC Hey Lucy are you able to share what they found that was easy to fix? I feel if I had more info I could bring this up with my GP if I find myself in that awful situation again. My GP is lovely but because we're too old for IVF on the NHS and we've gone private my GP just tells me to talk to them....which obviously costs a fortune for every appointment. I'm doing my first round of IVF so at the moment I can ask the nurses in those appointments if I want to know something.
xx

Yes of course. I had tests done on the nhs first and they found a vitamin d deficiency which can apparently cause problems with ttc and can also be a cause of recurrent miscarriage. Then when our next pregnancy still wasn’t successful we had private testing done and they told me that my thyroid levels, whilst classed as normal in the uk, we’re potentially too high for a successful pregnancy, they were 2.53 and they should be more like between 1 and 2 for a successful pregnancy, obviously that won’t mean that everyone with levels above 2 won’t get pregnant or will miscarry but it can be a factor. So I was put on thyroxine and my levels dropped to 1. I also had a saline scan to look for scar tissue or abnormalities in the uterus and that found some scar tissue which they were able to remove there and then which could have caused implantation problems. I also had a thromboelastogram which found a blood clotting problem so I was told to take clexane injections from a few days after a positive test. We had a few months off ttc whilst we had the tests and then waited a couple of months for the vitamin d and thyroxine to start working and I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant. I’ll never know exactly what caused the previous losses or what if any of the treatment has helped us get this far but I went into the tests thinking they’d find nothing and came out with lots of things to try. Hope some of that helps.

Wishing you all the luck in the world with your ivf treatment xx

@LucyC thanks so much. Wow that’s so interesting and I’m delighted that they found a solution and that you’re pregnant. Wonderful news xx

I’ve emailed my fertility doctor my blood results and a list of questions about whether to go for further investigations for mc or if these are likely to just be pcos, we will see what she comes back with.

1 more sleep till our embaby is transfered. This will be the hardest 10 days wait of my life
