had a small disagreement with hubby earlier
I was having a moan to him about ladies who whinge and whine about not getting pregnant in the first few months or so of trying and it led to hubby saying well the clock is reset now and this is only month 2 for us..
I was trying to convince him to go for the fet again and it's still a flipping no go
As much as I'd love this to happen again naturally I don't think it's going to
and I'd much prefer it to happen whilst under the care of the ivf clinic with an early scan and extra progesterone
I wanted to go in for it while my body may be more fertile (or so they say it is for a little while after mc) so there would be a higher chance..
I don't know how to make him change his mind about waiting[/QUOTE
Millie, I'm totally with you, all the complaining about not getting pregnant straight away is why I really don't look at this forum any more, other than popping in every now and then to see how some of the lttc'ers are doing.
I don't really see the logic of "resetting the clock" but I don't have any bright ideas for you on how to persuade him. Have you told him that it will be much less stressful for you plus a greater chance of success to do the fet? Plus you'll be using "younger eggs"? Very best of luck.
I had a shock natural bfp last week, waiting for repeat beta test today as the one on Friday was slightly on the low side. Certainly not getting my hopes up given I'm now 45 1/2. If this one doesn't work out we'll go back to Serum in October/November.
I actually think I'm pregnant now because of our treatment at Serum so far, I tested positive for hidden infection which they've treated with antibiotics and I also had a hysteroscopy in July. They told us to go away and try naturally in August and here we are...
Best of luck to all the other ladies currently having/waiting for treatment.
Syd I often check on here to see how you're doing. Thats awesome that you have a BFP, I really hope it sticks for you and your beta is a good result. I also turned 45yrs old, still no success I'm on month 3 of soy iso as my Dr won't give me clomid due to my periods being regular, it's our last ditch attempt. Can I please ask what your hidden infection was, can you pm me as maybe I need to get checked out as well. xx
You ladies are all so lovely, I'm sorry now that it's been so long since I've been on here.
Repeat beta was 198 which is a doubling time of around 50 hours. Depending on what website you look at doubling time should either be between 32 and 72 hours or between 48 and 72 hours. So I'm doubling at the right rate, I just wish the numbers were higher. I keep telling myself that the first beta was taken two days before AF was even due and the second beta was taken the day after missed AF and that's why they are low. Getting a third test done on Wednesday.
I'm finding it very hard to let it sink in and I'm automatically on knicker watch ALL THE TIME!
Lil, you're so kind. I'm quite happy to put all the info on here in case it's useful for anyone else I did the hidden infection testing with Serum in Athens, you send them a sample of your menstrual blood (lovely, I know) so you don't have to go there. I tested positive for ureaplasma, bacterial load and hidden chlamydia (I'm assured this is different to the normal chlamydia which I've already tested negative for). It's thought that these infections can cause inflammation and stop proper implantation so if you test positive you and your partner go on a long course of antibiotics. We then flew to Serum in July, OH did a sperm test including checking dna fragmentation - came back with no issues. I had a hysteroscopy. It's fascinating, they record the hysteroscopy and when you come round and get discharged they give you the dvd of the operation, you take it back to the clinic and watch it with the doctor. Mine showed a few small remaining patches of inflammation and possible slight blocking of the left tube which Penny (the clinic director) thought would now clear. She put me on more antibiotics to clear the last of the inflammation. I'm now taking mild doses of the antibiotics which is the clinic's standard protocol for anyone that is pregnant after testing positive. She's also got me on clexane and mild steroids. Anyway, jumping around a bit so sorry, after the procedure she sent us away to try naturally and said they see an awful lot of people get pregnant naturally after the infection treatment and hysto. She says the hysto gives a good "tidy up" of the uterus and at the same time they do deep implantation cuts - this is much more than the endometrial scratch that other clinics do and lasts for a few months, again supposed to aid implantation. I honestly didn't think it would happen given my age and we were due to go back there in October and do a round with donor eggs.
I honestly can't recommend Serum enough. I know travelling over there may be difficult for you but you can do all the infection testing and treatment without leaving home. They send you the protocol and prescription for all the antibiotics, I think there are some pharmacies in the UK that will honour a prescription from Serum. My doctor in Hong Kong was happy to give them to me. You can also have a skype consultation with either Penny, the Director, or one of the others. They are so friendly and so responsive. I sent my very first enquiry email in ages ago and got an immediate, warm, lovely response.
Let me know how you get on if you contact them, literally nothing to lose.
Millie, would he be open to counselling with you? That could be helpful?
Keep positive, those happy, positive hormones will be good for the 2ww.
There are many reasons why you may not have been pregnant before, there could have been something preventing the sperm and egg from meeting, you have a Lovely, well developed blasto in there, hopefully getting comfyxx

Thank you! 🙂
There were a couple of reasons it never worked before - mainly completely blocked fallopian tubes, low egg reserve and I wasn't ovulating regularly!
So all those should have been overcome with the IVF, but there is still that part of me that doesn't believe it will ever happen. With all that bad luck, it doesn't seem possible that we'll be lucky enough for it to actually work!
Trying to stay positive but it isn't easy. Absolutely shattered and my boobs are killing me, emotions are all over the place and I just want to know either way.
