January 2017 mummies! **2nd Trimester.**

Oh abi I love Penelope ! I want it for us but we have a P surname and it goes with a cartoon character so wouldn't really work but thinking of Peny on the list somewhere if we have girls maybe ? X

Arghhh I love it! Gorgeous Abi, Poppy loves that name as it's similar to a character in Wreck it Ralph but it's too similar to her own for us to consider :(

That's a really lovely idea Lisa :)

Ah lovely Sprout! Literally cannot wait for mine but still another 3 weeks to go.. So glad to hear everything looks well xx

It sounds so cute I think! Great news Sprout! I like that idea Lisa !!

My god daughter is called Poppy Kate, so that's my only reservation about the name being so similar xxx

Ah don't worry about that Abi - I was toying with it for siblings so it'll be fine for friends! I wouldn't batter an eyelid if a friend called their baby Penny..

How's everyone today? I think I can safely say i've felt baby now which is fantastic - a couple of convincing prods the night before last and again just now..

I'm struggling with the summer hols and getting zero work done.. Who else here already has children? I feel most of us are first-timers?

I have a little girl already Kate :) She'll be 2 in November. How old is yours?

Of course Sprout! Your profile picture is adorable :) She is 4 and a half so a little gap between mine - she's so excited to be a big sister! xx

We are wanting a fairly traditional name that can be shortened. Both of us have that (Abigail - Abi) but also trying to get a couple of family names in there. I was sad to see a celebrity has just had a baby and used our fave girls name :/ so I hope it won't become too popular! xxxxx

I like more traditional names too. Mine will be named after his dad, Troy. So he'll be Troy junior and we'll call him T.J. :)

Aww thank you. That's the sort of age gap I was originally going for but broodiness won out there! Is she excited about the baby?

So, so excited it's adorable to see! How she'll feel when the baby is actually here is another matter, she is very, very clingy and I am a little worried about jealousy.. Haha, it is the gap I wanted but it was a hard slog waiting!! Had we been in the position to I would have caved sooner for sure.. Does your girl know what's going on do you think?! They'll thank you in the future, I have a great bond with my brother who's only 18 months younger than me xx

Bless her, that's so sweet. At least she'll be able to really communicate and understand what's going on..that's the only thing that put me off a smaller gap..hopefully the jealousy won't be too bad.

I really don't know how much she understands, if I ask who's in my tummy or in scan photos, she says "baby brother" but I can't imagine she really gets that there's going to be a baby here, I think it's going to be a bit of a shock to the system! But yeah, thinking of the bond they'll have and when they can eventually play together stops me feeling too guilty about it.

Hi ladies, really glad to see you're mostly all doing well and 20 week scans going nicely! Adorable pictures too!

I had a growth scan yesterday and all looks well with both babies. They're almost exactly the same size and no signs of twin to twin transfusion.

Sadly I still haven't managed to sleep more than 4 hours per 24 since.. last week? And then the day I moaned to you all about it, I had some truly awful news about my best friend so it's sort of made this 100 times worse. Since this news, I keep having emotional meltdowns and feel really highly stressed and anxious, so I spoke with midwife about it yesterday as feel like I need to deal with any issues now rather than let them fester. Bleh.

Anyway I'm just glad babies are ok and that you're all doing well xx

Oh Laura i'm so sorry - you know we're here if you want to talk, it doesn't need to be about babies! Sometimes talking to strangers is the best therapy.. You can get it all out and not worry about being judged because no one has a clue who you are.. I'm sure the lack of sleep is contributing greatly to your mood.. Are there any natural sleep remedies the midwife can clear for you to try? I had a bout of insomnia in my teens and it hasn't ever returned but it made me truly miserable and so stressed.. I really feel for you :(

Fantastic news about your girls though, that is great!

I know it sounds silly but have you though about pregnancy yoga? Could be a really good way to focus your mind and learn how to deal with your thoughts.. I've also heard great things about pregnancy massage ;) Hope you're feeling much better very soon chick xx

That's so sweet Sprout :) Don't ever feel guilty, it's the worst feeling to have.. I know loads of Mums who do carry loads of guilt with smaller age gaps but the initial shock will go and make way for a truly lovely relationship.. I know a little boy who will be big brother to 2 siblings by the time he is 3. He dealt with the first baby wonderfully but i'm not sure he's too happy about this new one brewing ;) xx

Thanks! I've been trying herbal tea and not going on phone or laptop before bed and stuff. Not much good, so far, but I will keep trying and eventually I should fall back into a good pattern. I've never had trouble with sleep but definitely am not functional when I've had less than 8 hours! Haven't tried yoga, the idea of stretching and sitting on the floor doesn't really appeal at the moment but it's obviously designed to help so I should give it a chance.

I've started feeling movement! Only in one place and it's little flutters or gentle kicks. Midwife said to start rubbing my bump and talking to them, which I've seen pregnant women do before and not really understood why but she said it would help with bonding. So I've started doing that now and it feels a bit uncomfortable but also kind of nice. Anyone else had this advice?

Sorry to see all that Laura :( but yes, I had the same advice when they signed me off work a couple weeks ago. Me and OH rub and talk to squiggle every day and always make sure we say goodnight to it. Sounds mad I know but it's helped us both cope with the fear of 'Oh my god there is actually a baby coming who will be totally dependant on us.' I was going through a rough patch of regret and I felt awful, about it so it's really helped.

I've come back into work today (12hr shifts -.- ) and I slept maybe 3 hours last night? Whether it was nerves I don't know but this past week my sleep has been really disturbed. I had found my pregnancy pillow to help a bit but OH in his sleep tries to steal it haha.

So lovely you are feeling movement too. :)

Once I'm done here at 8pm I've got my 40 min journey home straight to my friends birthday meal - shattered is not the word.
When is your 20 week scan Laura?

xxxxxx

Yay for feeling movement Laura that's exciting :-) feels very odd at first doesn't it !

Hubby felt a first kick yesterday ! :-)

We've always spoken to the babies, hubby started speaking to them while they were eggs before transfer, than once they were transferred he's spoken to them every morning & every night! I talk to them when I'm alone too although at first it felt quite odd lol

Abi I don't envy you with the shifts bless you how's it going ? I'm glad I'm not still on the long days !

It's not been horrendous today thankfully. It just gets hard from now until 8pm as there is very little to do (I find myself just eating and eating from now !)

So exciting that hubby felt babies! My OH is dying to feel it and even outs his head to my tummy just to try hear the movement xxxxxx

Your partners sound adorable :) Mine is not the gushy type at all (much to my despair!) and rarely communicates with bump! I am definitely prone to a belly rub though, I catch myself doing it all the time.. It will definitely help with bonding Laura even if you feel a little silly doing it at first! Baby can hear your voice which is sort of amazing to know.. So wonderful to have gotten your first kicks and Sarah that is mega exciting that your partner got a feel!! My daughter cannot wait to feel kicks it's going to be lovely when it finally happens..

Sorry you all seem to be struggling with sleep :( it really is horrible.. Abi I had phases throughout my first pregnancy when I was full of panic and regret, I think even when babies are planned the reality sinks in sometimes and let's face it - it's bloomin' scary! Don't sweat it and just try to ride it out.. Don't feel badly on yourself it's so normal.. Corr, lovely as it's been I am struggling in this heat! Bring on Autumn I say.. xx
