January 2017 mummies! **2nd Trimester.**

Congratulations HoldingThumbs! That's awesome!

I was watching the xfactor on catchup last night and got my first two big kicks! It made me feel such a rush of love and happiness :)

OH had an "interesting" idea this morning.. that we would pop over to Kent for a week in January so his family can all meet the babies. I don't want to be a meanie, but I'll have just given birth and be trying to figure out motherhood and two babies, they can bloomin' well come to me if they want to see them! He kind of laughed and apologised and said maybe a bit later then, and I said we'll be lucky if I'm up for going anywhere in the first 6 months. Am I being over the top? I just don't think he realises how hard it's going to be and we don't even have a car so it would mean getting a train and lots of changes and then staying with his family or paying out for a hotel.. not something I want to do in the first months.

Laura, I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. First of all, unless you have an exceptionally easy birth, I doubt any doctor or midwife would recommend travelling that early. And I doubt the babies will be ready either! Personally I think your OH is maybe a bit naive. I'm sure he'll realise how much work babies are once they arrive. And for that matter, he'll probably end up being at least as exhausted as you or even more if he works full time and then comes home to two lively babies. My colleague almost fell asleep at his desk for the first two months after having a baby (granted, they also have a two year old). He simply never got to rest properly.
My best advice is to nod and smile, make no definite plans and perhaps have a quiet talk with your mother in law, as she might be more realistic.

I agree! Maybe suggest they visit you after a few weeks instead and maybe go and see them next summer!
My DH wants us to visit his sister in October to meet her new baby but we'd also planned a last holiday for us before the twins arrive, he always wants to do everything while we can but I'll be so tired and heavy! We had to go and see all his family separately before each ivf which was so stressful for me as I had already started some of the drugs and was feeling apprehensive but they don't get that!

I agree Hun, especially as you don't have a car that makes it much harder with trains and everything, like you say they can come and see you guys!

Bless him, very naive Laura. I'd make anyone who wants to see babies come to you after your 9 months of hard work haha.

I've already decided for the first couple of weeks we will be strictly by invitation only. I'm really nervous about having loads of people just turn up unannounced wanting to see baby (let's face it, they are NEVER there to see us parents). I'm hoping as my mum will be staying over that she will be a good door guard for us... !

xxxxx

Also Laura, can you tell between the two babies yet? As in movements or does it all still feel blurred? Xxx

No, I can't tell the difference. I only feel movement on my left side though, so I think I'm only feeling one of them and the other might be more cushioned behind the placenta. During scans though, they are always snuggled up right next to each other, so it could be that I'm feeling both. Feeling anything at all is reassuring though!

I can feel tickles on either the left or the right, must be where the little legs are! But mine will be a bit further apart I think.

hi all. sorry for being quiet lately. I haven't been feeling great. I have absolutely no energy and been feeling really fed up. I'm also huge, my bump is so big, I get mistaken for being 30+ weeks. It's really uncofmrtable too, I feel like it's weighing me down and I get breathless from just standing up. I have also been feeling really strong kicks. It honestly feels like I'm nearly due. I have been reading updates from you all. My 20 weeks scan is on Thursday. x

Ani- did you have oyur gender scan on Saturday? Not sure if I've missed any update on that. x

Abi- did you have oyur gender scan on Saturday? Not sure if I've missed any update on that. x

Oh Princess, sorry to hear that. Sending you lots of hugs. I've been having a few days as well recently when I've felt much further along than I am. Just relax as much as you can, focus on yourself and your task. <3

Not unreasonable Laura - that sounds completely overwhelming!

My oh has a huge family and we took Pops to a family do when she was only a few weeks old, they were passing her around and I burst into tears she was so tiny and I wanted her to myself! Having a doorman is a fab idea Abi!

Sorry to hear that Princess :( Hope you're feeling better soon.. Is it hot where you are? That does nothing for lethargy and feeling huge!! Hope your scan is lovely :) xx

Aww princess sorry to hear that. No we cancelled it as my sonography for with NHS said she will happily tell us at our 20 week scan this week so decided to wait that little bit longer (saves £55!!!) il let you know as soon as I can :D

Haha thanks Kate, as my family is so big I think it's needed! I like the idea of having a family do but like yourself, I would really struggle to let baby go! xxxx

Hi ladies

just catching up!! so excited for those starting to feel your little beans I had the first kick I could feel with my hand Saturday night... grabbed other halfs hand like a mad woman... waking him up... only for it to completely stop moving LOL I have an anterior placenta too and I'm so desperate for OH to feel it.

Laura - totally not unreasonable! I mean what if you have to have a c? that's 6 weeks your out... I have already agreed family only for 2 weeks and I mean immediate and then extended and friends - its too much otherwise let along having 2 and using public transport.. I'm sure he is excited and just rose tinted but do speak to him again, let him know how you want to settle down and get a routine first before taking them out I'm sure he will come round xxx

Princess I am with you! 21 + 3 and I am massive.. I can't sleep very well I feel like a beached whale, my stomach is so tight I can't eat very much as it makes it worse but I'm starving and my feet have started to ache.. people think I am going on MAT leave in a couple of weeks when I see people at work... yeah in DECEMBER!! I'm frightened how much bigger I can get with out my stomach actually physically bursting!! LOL

Possibly a bit TMI but when does the discharge stop? I'm going crazy leaking all the time. I just want my panties to stay dry for ten minutes. Panty liners is unfortunately not an option for me, anything with plastic in near my bits give me rashes.

I seem to remember from last time that it only gets worse...sorry! So much so that at the end you keep wondering if it's your waters or not :P

I'm finally getting loads of kicks throughout the day now, it's great. Lovely to hear about you guys feeling movement too :)

I think we'll be arranging a day 2-3 weeks after the due date when extended family can come over and meet the baby...should avoid any random visits, although to be honest I don't think anyone we know would do that.

Not going to lie Lisa..... Mine seems to be getting worse! Hospital picked up a deep vaginal infection last week (made me feel like a dirty so and so!!) so I had to have a pessary up there and it's been none stop since, horrible and like chalk cause of it lol! Joys of being a woman...... Nice to see you Robbda and to know you are getting on well! xxxx

Sorry to hear about your infection Abi, hope it clears up soon.

I was afraid of that. Ah well. Just have to live with it.
I'm so starting to sympathise with Victorian women who simply didn't leave the house for nine months.
