January 2017 mummies! **2nd Trimester.**

I'm hogging the page here, but I'm very excited because the painters have just been in and painted the nursery! We went with this colour in the end..

Oh lovely Laura that's a cute colour X

Thanks! I'll probably get a few pink bits to go in there to girlie it up a bit, but I didn't want to go too mad on it, especially in case they pop out as boys!

I need some advice girls. I've had severe headaches for quite a while now. Originally I thought it was sinusitis, as it followed on my cold and I was pretty stuffed for a while. But that seems to have cleared up now, no mucus and only stuffy nose at bedtime which is quite normal for me.
I have no other symptoms of pre-eclampsia, so don't think it's that, even if everyone seems convinced I will get it because I'm fat (despite having no family history of high blood pressure whatsoever).
Seeing as I really don't like my midwife, I would rather not call her. So should I call the antenatal clinic, which I can probably easily get away with as expecting twins, or should I get a GP appointment to be checked for sinusitis?
And are there some risk factors I've missed that could lead to headaches?

I think this is a normal symptom of hormones unfortunately. I don't ever get headaches normally, but since pregnant, I get some horrendous tension ones which last for days. I've been taking small amounts of aspirin, which I'm meant to take anyway to prevent blood clots (like 1/4 of a 300mg pill, but I'll take 1/2 if needed). I find that sleep and aspirin help a lot. If you're still being sick regularly, it could be that you're a bit dehydrated and that won't be helping. Do you keep water down most of the time?

I imagine that if you call, they'll tell you to try some painkillers and then contact them again if it persists. When's your next appointment?

I was going to say the same thing, headaches are a common symptom of Trimester 2 unfortunately. My sickness was replaced by bad headaches for a few weeks but they have almost stopped now luckily. Go to the GP if you are worried though. xx

The clinic asked how many weeks I am and then said to get a GP appointment, so I guess that's what I'll do.
Just going to try to get through the day, it's so hard to concentrate. And painkillers unfortunately does nothing. Can't take aspirin due to sensitive stomach, so I'm stuck with paracetamol until doctor says I can have codeine.
I'm still sick, but only ever in the morning, so keeping things down isn't the issue. I guess it could be tension, but I don't know, nothing seems to help, not baths, sleep or massage.
Will have to see what the GP says tomorrow.

Thanks for your support girls. <3

Oh i'm sorry Lisa you've really had a rough time of it :( I agree that headaches are completely to be expected so try not to worry but it doesn't make them any nicer! Hope you get the codeine approved soon...

That is a beautiful colour Laura - love it!

I didn't get on with my Medela but it was the cheaper one (not the swing). I got on better with a manual but I did feel like a human cow sat pumping it for so long. You do have to hold it unfortunately Abi - as Poppy wouldn't latch I was exclusively pumping and it was so tough being attached to the thing every 2 hours! Praying breastfeeding works for me this time.. I'd go for it Laura, with 2 to feed you want to invest in a good, reliable one and I saw on your other thread that the other ladies had good experiences with Medela..

Ahh I thought that would be the case haha silly me. I was hoping to attach then walk around the house doing the hoovering etc! Love that colour Laura, it was one of our final three with the nursery!

I've just had my interview (went well) to come home me and have my friend call asking for me to bake a cake for a party tonight that I totally forgot about !! Stressing!! xxxx

Oh! And I felt my first actually kick today! Like strong and forceful to the side , not once but three of them! xxxxx

That would be amazing! I'm sure you could invent some kind of contraption out of elastic bands.. Then go on Dragon's Den and make your millions!

Good news about the interview - fingers crossed for you lovely!

And yay for proper kicks :)

It's fine, just channel your inner Mary Berry, dust it with loads of icing sugar and it will be a thing of beauty ;) xx

Haha I'lol get on it straight away!

Cake has turned out OK, just needs a bit of decorating now :)

Oh and here is my bump pic from this morning :) after I ate breakfast it popping back out haha xxxxxx

Ahh lovely lovely bumps, so nice to see how we're all progressing!

Oh Lisa that sounds awful...could it possibly be your neck at all? I get a really dodgy neck while pregnant...sometimes if the muscles ache, it can feel like it's your head. A neck massage might help if so, or one of those beanbag things you stick in the microwave?

Laura that's a beautiful colour!! Would love to see your nursery when it's done, if you're willing to share :D

Last night my little girl woke up and asked for a drink, and as I sat up to get it, I honestly thought she'd poked me incredibly hard in the tummy...looked over and realised she was too far away and it must have been baby boy kicking, it was nuts! Literally made me jump.

That's exactly what I was going to say, Sprout - have you tried one of these Lisa?

I'm prone to headaches most of the time, and have been getting quite bad, longlasting ones over the last week or so. The more it hurts, the more it tenses your neck muscles, which makes it a bit of a vicious cycle. These things are really brilliant and just help me relax the tension a bit which often does the job - or at least kickstarts the painkillers.

Might be worth a go for a few pounds. Xx

Loving all these bumps!

BlondeP hahaha re vacuuming with milkers attached. That's a hilarious image and it would be brilliant to be able to! Sounds like some kind of super-star housewife scenario.

I'll definitely share nursery photo when it's done, but I don't plan on buying the furniture for some time so it'll be a while before it's all complete. Let's definitely all share nursery photos though when they're done!

Definitely going for cloth nappies, the disposable ones take 18 years to break down apparently! We might use them for days out though. I wonder if it's OK to burn them on an open fire or bonfire instead? :)

I am also planning to use cloth diapers, I was just doing some research on it myself. :) It seems cheaper and better for baby's skin from what I read.

They are soooo bloomin expensive Laura it's ridiculous.. It's a big decision! I got the Bugaboo Bee first time round and was majorly disappointed in it.. That looks gorgeous Abi, just googled it! The car seat that came with ours is the Cubex Aton Q and it is so lovely, roomy and squishy compared to the Max Cosi we had last time..

I'm in nursing bras or sports bras just because I already had them but already popping out.. Definitely no underwire for me from now on I find it so uncomfortable!

Hahaha, oh Abi! Yes, they come in many different sizes and if your baby is anything like Poppy was don't stockpile on the newborn size as they really are dinky and they grow so so fast! I'm really eco-conscious and have seriously been looking into cloth nappies for this time round.. To be honest the thought of them really grosses me out but I feel so bad for the planet! Anyone else researching them?

Yes in in sports bras too, underwire hurts! And I've heard rumours it effects milk.

We have been buying nappies for a free weeks withou realising so have a newborn pack and two size 4 packs!! I wanted to do cloth nappies so badly but OH really doesn't as he is convinced we will have a poopy washing machine lol.

If the baby is anything like me or its dad then the little one will be a beast haha xxxx

LOL! It's funny how men think. :D When the little ones poop, it gets all over their clothes and everything anyway no matter what kind of diaper is used. So you might as well throw the cloth diaper in the wash as well with all of the other poopy clothes. Haha. :)

It might very well be the neck. The chair I have at work doesn't give great support. I do have a wheat pillow, but usually avoid using it on the neck because of the weight, but maybe I could find a position where it's comfortable.
Right now I'm trying to get through to my GP and it won't even connect. Grrr... I really don't like the system of making almost every appointment an emergency one. Having to spend half an hour on the phone to be seen every time is seriously annoying.

Drama queen rant alert..

Ughhh I'm sooo tired and feel like crap today. I have woken at 3-4am two nights in a row now and been unable to sleep again. Also I was pretty badly sick again last night so I feel really weak this morning and everything feels sore. desperately trying to get a bit more sleep, pleaasee send sleep vibes my way

Oh Laura it's horrid isn't it! Can you get to have a cheeky afternoon nap today?
I'm the same yesterday it was 1:30am & couldn't get back to sleep & today it was 4am!
Sorry your sickness is still hanging around :-( X

It's such a weird symptom! I feel like it's 9 months where we need all the sleep we can get. I'm cooking a full English and then I'm crawling back into bed!
