Hi girls

Well this is the first opportunity iv had to write about baby Jacobs birth....im afraid its a long one! during the birth a lot of it was a blur to me so iv had to base it on wat mum and hubby hav told me.

ok so as a lot of u know I actually started contracting on the sat 20th and sun 21st but was only getting to 7mins apart then stopping.

tues 23rd was my due date and still no baby. saw mw on the Wednesday and she recommended sex...so we did and I started heavy bleeding so ended up spending time in hospital. the thurs they talked about breaking my waters as said I was 3 cms dilated! but I wanted things to be as natural as possible so went home........

Friday morning at 5am (26th) my waters popped, they were just trickling though not gushing. I started timing my contractions and they were 6 mins apart. they stayed at this for a few hrs and I just bounced on my ball and took cocodomol.
then at about 12 o clock they jumped to 4 mins apart and I had a contraction with an almighty pain where baby completely turned himself (he had been in perfect position for weeks!)
well it all stepped up a gear then and within an hr I was contracting every 2-3 mins lasting 60-70 secs and in a lot of pain, so rang hosp to say id b coming in (they said cood I stsy home another hr! then I had a contraction on phone and she sounded panicked and told me to come straight in)...the hosp is 20-25 min drive so me hubby and my mum jumped in the car and raced down.

when we parked up a bloke in carpark went lookin for a wheelchair as thought I was about to give birth in car park lol
so we arrived in delivery suite at 2pm and they examined me I was 5 cms....so went on gas and air but where baby had positioned himself it wasn't enuff so needed pethidine.
at 5 oclock I said I needed to push....mw didn't believe me and said surely not already but she examined me and I was 10cms!!!

I ended up pushing for 2 hrs with nothing happening (another mw came and took my gas and air off me for her patient so no pain relief for about 15 mins) and was in a lot of pain and babys heartbeat was dipping with every contraction. I was examined and mw had to get a doll to work out babies position....he was stuck tho and was starting to get swelling on his head....so nxt thing I know the room is full and anaesthetist and dr are getting me to sign disclaimers to take me to theatre,

Was rushed to theatre with hubby at about 7:15pm and eventually (between contractions) was given a spinal block which after all the pain felt amazing as everything below my boobs was completely numb.
Then they tried using ventouse to turn baby along with me pushing but they couldn't turn him so they also had to give me an episiotomy and use forceps to deliver him....felt like I was pushing forever but he was eventually born at 7:59pm and rushed off to help him breathe etc.

the theatre staff thought their scales were broken as they thought he weighed a lot more than he actually did but its because he was so long!
he was 8lb 8oz and 60 cms long. he is absolutely perfect and soooo beautiful.

my episiotomy scar has 2 infections so on 2 lots of anti-bs, and because of this there is a hole in the wound so will take a bit longer to heal. in a lot of pain but he is absolutely worth it!!

unfortunately I tried to breastfeed but he has a tongue-tie so coodnt latch. I expressed the colostrum for first few days but he has a v healthy appetite and I wasn't enough for him so he a formula baby.

if you've managed to read all that, well done! theres so much more I could say but im typing one handed as jake has colic so im cwtching him loads :)

so ye, so so happy to finally be a mummy! hes me and hubbys world and everyone loves him to bits. hes a really content baby and so good!

here are a couple of pics of him. the one in the car seat was when we took him home day after he was born, the other one is day after that.

thank u all for the lovely msgs of support u sent me on my labour thread, and a massive thank you to timtam, the best bump buddy ever!

xxxxxxx

wow bella, this is the post youve waited so long to post, the one with the photos of your little boy in your arms. Sorry its been so painful and difficult and hope that your episiotomy heals fast and that you and Jake have lots of happy times ahead. But honestly take it easy and dont expect to be able to do everything at once and perfectly, aim one is for everyone to stay alive and sane for the first month!!

Hapy birthday Jacob and well done mummy.
x Daisy

Well done Bella, he looks gorgeous, even smiling in ?daddy's arms?

So happy for you, hope that episiotomy heals quickly and Jake's colic settles. xxx

Oh sweet, you poor thing it sounds so traumatic. Can't believe he changed position at the last minute! And that mw who took your G & A away should be shot! Bet that epidural was amazing though :) I really feel for you as I had episiotomy and forceps so I know how uncomfortable it is after, but I didn't have the infections so you got it even worse. Massive cwtches and well done for getting through it all. Once you have your baba it all starts to fade anyway and I'm so happy for you that you finally have your LO and he's such a good boy :) He's truly gorgeous and may I say looks a bit like daddy ;) When you're ready get over to the parenting section and feel free to FB me with any questions and I'll try and help. Yay I'm a cyber Auntie to gorgeous Jacob :D Once again CONGRATULATIONS!!! xxxx

Awwwwwwwwww he's absolutely bloody gorgeous hun, definitely a heartbreaker

Wow what a birth story to embarrass Jake with when he's older! Sorry you had to go through all that but I bet it feels like a distant memory now he's here.

It's been so lovely to share your journey, helping each other out when we were both in ttc land, following your pregnancy journey and seeing you reach the final destination where you now begin a whole new journey!!!

Loads of love and cwtches to you and your little family and hope you feel better soon :)

Xxxx
