ok so im gonna sound very stupid here probably ladies... u have been warned...... anyway, Ive not really slept much throughout the night... probably a couple of hours at most... anyway, i've been having pains throughout but not sure whether they r contractions.... feels like someone has put a tight belt round the middle of my bump every so often it gets worse and sometimes there is pain at the bottom of my bump and tops of my thighs as well. does this sound like contractions ? its uncomfortable but not like really bad, i dunno, think it has been waking me up from the little sleep i have. cant really say how often cos abit of uncomfortableness seems to be there at all times...... anyway, i said i was gonna sound stupid but if anyone understood/recognised any of this from their labours some advice would be appreciated. thanks x

oooh I'm sorry Lucy, Iv'e been up for ages too, but I havn't experianced labour yet, just straight sections .
I know I have seen two posts on here recently like this and pains in tops of thighs seem to be a great sign by the responses from the girls. Hope someone can advise you better soon , but really hope it's started for you X

Morning! Well lucylu, it could well be contractions. They say if you have a bath and paracetamol and the pains go away then it's probably just really early labour and will return, but if that doesn't get rid of the uncomfortableness ten it's probably labour! Go and relax in a bath.

I feel like I've not slept a wink. I know what I'll do, I'll get up now, eat then fall asleep til 12 noon! Seems to be my sleep pattern lately. Body is well preparing for broken sleep I think! X

It def sounds like the start of things,if I were u I'd time them for an hour then go for a walk and keep urself busy then time again after a couple of hours...they should get increasingly closer together,regular,longer and stronger xx

Sounds promising! I didn't get to sleep until about 2.30am as I was having stabbing pains down low - baby stretching and pushing its' head further down I think! I also had some twinges higher up and thought it might be the start of something but it appears not!

How are things now?

Collapsed in exhaustion after i sent this and woke up around 10. not a great nights sleep but better than nothing. Not really had any sharp pains since but still feels tight and uncomfortable .... heres hoping but im beginning to think its nothing.

Hi girls just an update. been awake most the night again already. sorry about TMI in advance. felt like i had to go to the loo for a wee at around 2am. Went but it felt like i couldnt stop it coming.... and it was clear not yellow tinge. would this be my waters? had back pain ever since then went to toilet again around 3.15 and when i wiped there was pink streaks on the paper. now is this my plug ? im so confused. im having pains but not that painful if u get me so not sure if its contractions....

If you were me, would you ring the midwife ? or leave it until pains start up more.......

Hey Hun this sounds like it could be your plug coming away! Just sit tight coz I kept ringing midwife and she said no not yet stay at home mardy bloody cow!! Only way I can describe it is it comes in waves like a really really bad period pain a really dull ache!! Then it goes, then it comes back again lol I also felt like I needed to be on the loo alot!!! Labour can mess with your bowels too and you might feel like you just HAVE to go! I also just kept on losing clear sticky mucus (sorry tmi) hope your ok good luck xx

iv got constant back ache and tightness across my bump and its really hard. and then every so often i get sharp pains at bottom of bump. god i sound really thick but i just dont no what to expect. still not slept at all. but not tried. i think im gonna ring midwife b4 i send my OH to work just for some advice, cos dont wanna send him if need to go hospital. thanks for the help girls x

You don't sound thick! I'm feeling the same way. Yesterday I had cramp across the bottom of my bump, lots of pelvic discomfort and a general tight feeling in bump - but no sharp pains. I also had a sweep and just spend the whole day jumping on any sensation wondering if it was something or nothing! Today the cramp has gone but the pelvic discomfort remains, I also had a bloody show, so that's something. I'm going to have another day of sensation alert. Would love a solstice baby!

hi girls managed to have an hour or so sleep. got back pain continuously and it feels like a belt is strapped tight around my bump and my thigh continuously..... get other pains every now and again... just got to wait it out i guess..... sent my OH to work cos unless it gets really uncomfortable i dont want him wasting his paternity leave, but god i wish he was here just to make me a brew.lol. x

hey hun how are things now? It sounds like things are starting for you, I started with pain in the tops of my thighs, tightening and back pain a day or so before my waters went.

hey ladies. spoke to midwife again cos pains arent increasing with strength or getting closer together. Ive had pads on since this morning and they have been wet a couple of times so she thinks i should go in just to get checked out. tho obviously this baby could still be far away. Im trying everything to get these contractions to become more intense but nothings working. so im gonna grab a shower and give time for OH to sort out work then head into the birth centre to see how im doing. Im surprisingly very calm. KellyLou is my tx buddy so il tx her with any news. x
