What's everyones views on going out while pregnant? I mean into town to bars etc.
Before I got pregnant I was down town drinking almost every weekend, but obviously knocked it on the head as soon as I found out.

Haven't been out since anywhere like that, but friends just asked if I fancy it tonight. They said they will try their best to keep me safe, and I'm not stupid enough to go somewhere where something bad may happen, but in a place where others are drinking there's never the guarantee is there.
I also think I'd feel out of place.. I really dont know what to do?

I miss being with my friends and the music and environment, but mine and babies safety comes first clearly.
The OH said I deserve to enjoy myself and it's my decision, as long as I make sure I'm safe at all times and if in any doubt then to come home.

I don't think I'd be out ages anyway, just a few hours cos I'd get too tired out and wanna come home to OH!

Opinions? :)

I went out last night :) and I was with someones whose due date it was :) I got home at 1am lol just keep your wits about you and I tend to walk covering my bump anyway just to be on the safe side but I did find that a lot of people were actually quite curteous :)

Go out, let your hair down hun xxx

If you can go somewhere with plenty of seating and doormen then I'd say go for it (make sure they see your bump, most doormen I know are complete pussycats and will watch out for you). My problem is I hate being the only sober person and find drunk people really freakin annoying lol
It can't hurt to give it a go, maybe text OH when you get there and let him know where you are xxxxxxxxx

I don't think that it's a problem as long as you go to "normal" bars where people are not going crazy all the time. I've been out a couple of times now, and the only difference between now and before, is that I notice when everyone else is getting drunk and how many stupid things they say.

I would say, go out and enjoy yourself, but take care of yourself! If you feel unsecure somewhere, go home!!

xx

I still went out, people do give you funny looks though like you should become some hermit of something. I did find it gets a bit annoying though, esp the further on you are, being the only sober person plus you are the taxi, oh and I still got a 'hangover' so must be lack of sleep and not drink that causes them lol!

I was exactly the same as you before i got pregnant...out every weekend! I still go out, although not as much. I like to socialise and be in that environment, it just gets to a certain point when i can't cope with everyone being so drunk and lairy, and that's when i leave.

I was out last night and it was fine. I was laughing and having a joke with my friends saying i wonder if baby was having a mini rave to the loud music lol. My back started aching around midnight and i was tired so i went. I think as long as you're careful and don't overdo it you'll be fine. Its important to still enjoy yourself and see friends etc xx

Thanks for the replies everyone :)

In the end I decided to not bother going, and put my pj's on and watched X-Factor with the OH.
It might sound a bit selfish, but sometimes when I see my friends going out at the weekends, I do feel a bit left out and miss doing the same. We all used to do it most weekends and had the bestest times together, but obviously now a new chapter has started in my life, which is the most amazing thing to ever happen to me, but still sometimes feel saddened that I can't go doing those things anymore.

Also, I've got rhesus negative blood, so my midwifes told me that any bump to my tummy would mean a trip to hospital asap for a small dose of anti-d.. which I've had to have once already and it was NOT pleasant!! So that's why I'm a bit extra wary and so's my partner.

Maybe another time when they're not having a big night out, I'll join them :)

I went out when i was pregnant with my first, got some funny looks for it but hey ho. Never could be bothered going on nights out with my 2nd and now im pregnant with my 3rd with 2 LO's to run round after i just dont have the energy lol. Go out while you still can hun im sure your friends will keep you safe xx

Oh and Rachel im O Neg as well and my midwife said bumps to your bump are inevitable especially if you have smaller kids and you dont need to have anti d after a bump... My kids are always headbutting me in the belly or kicking me is my sons fave at the moment. They only told me i needed anti d if i had a bleed after 12 weeks xx

iv tried to do a few other things like go to the cinema and meals out and quiet bars after etc, but went to peter kay last night and it was great! im going out for my friends hen do in a couple of weeks so going to be careful but have a good time! x
