February 2021 mummies!

My RM friend is coming to my house this morning to do BP and take my bloods and return my mat notes to me. Will be officially booked in!

Interested to see my CGC to see on scan weight what a 10/50/90th centile baby is for my 5'2 body!

9 weeks today! Can't believe it!

I think I'm the last of the Feb mummies aren't I? Due 24/02/2021
It’s lovely having your friends looking after you isn’t it!! I’m the local midwife for my own area  so I got to choose one of the others, feel very happy about that! Just hope she’s on call for homebirth when my time comes

What is it about Valentine’s Day lol! Loads of babies due that day

Im with you in the emotions! I can cry over anything I swear. And the bloating is still pretty real! I actually look pregnant which is bizarre as it took forever to get a bump with my son.
How is everyone’s nausea? Mines mostly in the really early morning 2am today, and I’m so tired. BUT I don’t feel like any of it is as severe as it has been. I feel more like a functioning human being now.
I’m so happy that we’re all about to move to tri 2 together in the next few weeks :). Can’t believe I’m 11 weeks at the weekend. It’s dragged but gone quickly at the same time :oooo:
I know how mad is it that we have one week left until the second trimester?!!! I was sick again this morning but after I’m ok... not like the nausea I was suffering with a couple of weeks ago. It tends to come along and then I’m sick and then it’s gone. I’m actually starting to get used to it haha!
I’m glad you said that your bump took forever to come the first time because I feel a little like a fake as I have nothing (apart from the tiny ‘podge’ that was there before I was pregnant! Haha! I was worrying that I’m almost three months and there is nothing there bump wise. I’m bloated and can’t fasten my jeans but I thought there might be a little bit of a bump. But nope! I want one now!!! I think once I start getting a bump and see the 12 week scan I will start to believe it’s happening! Haha x

I managed to see a bump at 17 weeks (whilst lying down) with my son but about 22 weeks til it was more visible.
About 26 weeks when it became really obvious. X

oh good... that’s good to know! I’m going on holiday when I’m 18 weeks I hope I don’t just look like I’ve eaten too much By then haha x

Had the first scan. Everything looks perfect! Little baby measuring 1 day smaller than 12+0 but that doesn't change due date or anything. <3

I'm glad everything seems to be going great but damn I kinda feel unreal again. Baby daddy was so happy to see the scan too and made everything more real to him.

Oh and I asked about the blood test that would tell the sex of the fetus and she said it costs over 800 euros. :D How much does it cost in the UK? We're gonna wait 2 months now for the second scan and hope that they can tell the sex then. I'd like to know it so bad :good:

The test I have just had done tests the baby’s dna, so they would be able to tell you the gender from that but we didn’t want to know. The scan and bloods together cost £430, I think bloods on their own are £380.

lovely picture of your little baby  2nd trimester for you next week!

Thank you so much! Again I have this feeling like I can't believe there's a baby inside me. So very weird.

The ~12 week and ~21 week scans and all the basic doctors appointments and blood tests are free here but if we wanted to go to scans more in between or do something else extra we have to pay ourselves.

My next doctors appointment is on august 11th.

You wait until you feel kicks, it’s all very real then. Our 12 and 20 week scans are also free here, just have to pay if you want extra scans etc. We decided to do it because of my age and wanted a more accurate result.

Amazing!!! Look at little baby!! I also am in two minds whether to have the NIPT blood test. More so for the abnormality accuracy than the gender but gender being an added bonus... hmmmmmm - I’m thinking of waiting until they do the scan where they check neck thickness and then if they think it’s higher risk, then take the blood test. I’m 32, not sure if that puts me into the higher risk category or not?! Xx

Oh lovely scan, I get a girl vibe from that one!
Was told yesterday on my booking in that we get a routine 36 week scan now to, to check placenta is still working properly!

It must just be in certain trusts. Ours don’t offer that. But my son was born in Northern Ireland and they do it routinely there x

We had my blood test, baby's neck thicknes and my age somehow calculated together and luckily according to that no high risk at all. Blood was great, baby's neck was perfect and even my age 39 didnt ruin this calculation. <3 I was amazed.

I don't know anything but I'm pretty sure at 32 you're not automaticly at any risk. If they say you are, I'm moving straight to grandma town myself.

It's 2am here and I feel like I can't sleep. Million things going circle in my head. I'm thinking I will tell my parents tomorrow. They will flip. My mom will probably faint. Lol. :D

Oh that’s good to know... probably won’t have the blood test then. Exciting telling the parents! I can’t wait to have that scan picture so we can tell our grandparents and other people <3<3

Same here

The nuchal fold and blood test and age calculate your risk - it's a screening process and not diagnostic. So there will be people that get a very 'low risk result' but may still have a baby with one of the three conditions screened for.

Not trying to scare monger or be a negative nancy, but just make sure the difference is highlighted for people who are going through these different test options x

I think it’s really important that people know that’s the case. The nhs screening is approximately 85% accurate. Not negative at all, you’re just stating facts xx
