Ours is a woman's hospital. The scan waiting room is tiny and always packed. Even though the letters say to only bring one other person most bring a group. I had to stand at my 12 week because one woman had her husband, mum, friend, sister and 2 kids. There's only 10 seats.

Antenatal is a massive waiting room but is so noisy. It seems nobody even attempts to control their children who run up and down screaming. It's the same every visit.

Afm. I'm 17 weeks today. It feels surreal to be this close to half way. I keep feeling tumbly sensations which I am sure is baby too. Can't wait for it to get stronger.

3rd appointment of the week today. Only bloods but I'm getting she sneaks the flu jab in too.

Hi ladies, I'm back from my midwife appointment, it went well. She's so lovely! She loved DD as she's very confident and talks loads about her learning (we home educate) so the midwife got her to help check blood pressure and check for baby's heart beat. Was lovely, she didn't say how fast it was but sounded like a Choo Choo train


Just trying glad baby is all healthy, willy check for diabetes? My friend had big babies, 10lb and 11lb !! Pushed them both out too.

omg thats a big baby to push out. Im hoping they offer a C section if baby is that big. Im so scared!

Did they give you a weight JustTrying? Also did they offer you a GTT?

Mine is 13oz (I am sure TORino said she has a 13oz and I know she is concerned about big baby / had a big baby last time).... Would be interesting to know if 13oz is big for 21w lol..

Had to see 2 sonographers today as baby wasn't playing ball. No more scans either as my hospital has stopped the routine growth scan [had it with both my others but they don't offer it anymore]

Had a bit of a horrible experience today. Heavily pregnant woman collapsed in the waiting room (in the antenatal part of hospital - where you wait for scans / appointments / blood tests). She had her partner and her toddler with her. The toddler was inconsolable. There were about 15 MW in the scene within a minute and I think she had just fainted? They screened her off but I could hear her talking and her stats were ok.

Do you know the worst thing? This woman was standing prior to collapsing and at least 3 men were sat down with their partners. I was livid and made sure I complained to a MW at the time and to reception after. I had to wait for a seat when I got there today. How can people be so thick??? In an antenatal waiting room MEN DON'T GET SEATS BEFORE PREGNANT WOMEN (the one who collapsed was very obviously pregnant, me not so much but why else would I be in an antenatal waiting room???). It really tainted my day actually.

Poor woman, I know she was in the best place but how awful for her!

They didnt give a weight, apparently the midwife starts measuring as of next appointment. I really want an average weight. How come you are being provided with weight of the baby?

Yeah my GTT is in a months time.

In the waiting area there are usually CLEAR SIGNS suggesting pregnant women to be given priority seats. People are just inconsiderate and nasty.

Carnat..selphie and just trying glad all went well! JustTrying are they giving you the gtt?? Carnat glad the lady seemed well! Quite shocked and appalled that men were sitting while pregnant ladies were standing!

lol Im so glad Im not the only one carrying a little fatty 33 yes GTT is booked in about 4 weeks.

I might make a big baby thread after GTT. It would be nice to see how big baby ladies are progressing and whether they will be natural or C section.

Is it written in your scan report? How do you know your baby is measuring big? Is it above 50th centiles for AC/HC and femur length? I think they just used a formula based on those sizes to estimate weight.

They can't give you an accurate assessment of weight anyway I don't think. Just a general indication of size. Bigger doesn't always mean heavier and they tend to get it wrong!

So I'm laying in bed on my back when not long ago i felt little pops, I placed my hand there and felt it, was this baby kicking? It happened twice and a third time when my hand was there

God my skin is driving me mad!! I can literally just sit here and scratch until I bleed! It's so bad on my belly no matter how much moisturiser I slather on! My eczema is also on the rampage too!

I never got so itchy with my first, I had a few here and there but nothing to this extent!! Is it February yet?

Oh I'm so disappointed I didn't get a weight at my 20w scan!

I'm toying with the idea of a 4D scan, but not sure. I don't want to find out the sex so may be difficult.

Just been catching up on the thread, congratulations to everyone who's had their 20 week scan, mine is on Monday, excited but we aren't finding out sex so will be team yellow!
Not been felling too bad recently, have been feeling quite a few movement over the last week as well. Is there anyone on here that has hm had a previous c section? Had a few times where my scar has felt like it's burning but assuming this is normal x

I can't believe the restraint of you ladies. So many team yellow / green.

I must admit that finding out after delivery was about the most amazing thing ever. Finding out at a scan isn't the same (of course meeting the baby is still bloody amazing even if you know sex!!)

Haven't had a section here so not sure about the scar tissue, I would assume normal though!!

Not been on knicker watch as such but had to put a panty liner on the other evening as my hacking cough and weak pelvic floor muscles were not a good combo. I thought I'd have to go shopping for Tena Ladies but thankfully cough eased and it's ok. Am doing my kegel exercises religiously now.

Hi all,

glad to catch up and hear all the fab scan news. I have mine on Friday whoop whoop!

I wouldn't worry too much about the weights they give of baby in utero. It is all real estimates and is not an exact science. I was never measuring large and was never told baby would be long or heavy but she was 9lbs 8oz and 98th centile for length too at birth!! On the flip side my bestie was told from scans that he baby had a huge head and she might need to be induced because he was going to be so heavy! 2 weeks overdue and a reasonable 8lbs.... so not particularly large at all. I just smile and nod with their estimates and think what will be will be.

For those first time mums with 'big' babies don't worry either. I had a natural, vaginal birth after labouring in a pool with no drugs at all and got a big baby out lol.

Anyone else got the dreaded thrush? It's suddenly come on today so off to pharmacist tomorrow for some pessaries.

Urgh Holly, im with you on the thrush front. This is the 4th time for me now!!! I have no idea how to stop it - I'm well versed in avoiding perfumed soaps, tight pants etc but it seems to come back

I spent the day in hospital today with suspected dvt arghhh had blood tests and an injection in my stomache now got to go back tomorrow for a scan of my leg.. has anyone else experienced this? My right calf is swollen and tight, but not red or anything, an my veins are bulging and nobbly. Right leg is about 15mm bigger...

Just sitting with my leg raised tonight and hoping for the best... on the plus side, I THINK I might be starting to feel baby moving!!!! It almost feels like my stomache is pulsing a bit?! Xxx
