FAO ANYONE who has ever had a bank charge

Thats brilliant Kirsty :cheer: ...............you'll get a letter saying that them paying is not admittance they've done anything wrong  but simply a goodwill gesture  blah blah blah

Let us know how you get on....will be interesting to see how quickly they get back to you

im glad its encouraged people to claim money back the robbing tw@ts have taken over the years

:cheer:

Im not sure i understand this, it seems too good to be true almost, can you plesae explain it a bit more, i am only blonde after all !

Ive been charged over a hundred pounda end of last year for money they didnt send out,

my example

overdraft is £150

i was £140 overdrawn

then a DD for £80 was rejected and not sent, twice !
Then the bank charged me over £120.00 for this,

Are you saying i can claim this back??

thanks

Oh yes!! Claim it back hun!!

Have a look on here its full of useful info to get you started:

My DF and I claimed ours back last year....I actually have another bank account that I haven't claimed back on, I got my statement through this week and they charged me £60 in December....so I'm going to go through and see if I've had had many more on that account.....even if its only £60....its still £60 I'm entitled to get back!

Hmmm....might have a look on my Lloyds Internet banking now

 might go through my and B's bank account statements as well although Im a good girl and the only charges I can remember were about 6 months ago and it was banking error so they refunded all the charges straight away (oh yes they stated good will gesture as well lol) but apart from that I pay all my bills on time - my mum will be proud, she actually did instil something in to me that stuck :rotfl:

I know......I had money management issues for a while  then I got 2 charges in December as I spent too much on xmas before payday - oops!

Oh well........I suppose I should look at it as a savings account that I didn't know I had :cheer: Got the money back with my A & L Account last year, and C got his back from Lloyds TSB so I have every confidence I'll get this back from them too in the next few weeks or so :cheer: that'll come in handy :D

We sent a letter off for A last week to Barclays.

Waiting to hear back, how long do you think we should give before we chase them?

Jo, £10 is the max they can charge you, £5 is the price per sheet but the charging limit is set at £10.

We enclosed a chq for barclays and when they sent us the last 5 years of statements, they returned the cheque and said the service was complimaentary

Was going to say the exact same thing!

I look forward to receiving their remittance!! :cheer: So I can spend it on Libby :cheer:

K - the bank should reply within 14 days to your letter - although this is just a guideline.......I stated on my letter when I expected to hear back from them.....if you don't hear back within 14 days, then I would write a letter to them stating that you will be pushing ahead through the courts (you claim the cost back anyway) as they have neglected to respond to you.

thats fair enough, but the legal guidelines are 40 days not 14

Oh I didn't know about that.....I got the 14 days from the gmtv website:

Write a letter to your bank requesting your money back. Keep a copy of all your correspondence and note details of phone calls. You should hear from your bank within two weeks

I guess thats a guideline of when most banks get back to you then, rather than when they have to get back to you.

Sorry for the confusion :?

I GOT A CHEQUE BACK THIS MORNING FOR £205!!!!!!!

IM SOOOOOOO HAPPY :D :D :D

Obviously they said in the letter that it isnt their fault

But who cares, I got my money back! :D

I dunno whether to pay off my overdraft with it and close the account or keep the account but stay well out of my overdraft, that way they cant charge me

They also refunded £75 worth of charges directly into my bank account today so I think they messed up somewhere, altogether they've given me £280 back :shhh:

Is that the total amount they had taken from you? They tend to give you less first, then you can still go for the rest.

No that was the whole lot, Ive only had the account for a few months.

They paid back what I asked in full plus court costs :)

It was Alliance & Leicester but it works with any bank, they dont have an argument to put forward cos they know they're wrong.

Unless its a large amount (like thousands) I doubt any bank would even bother going to court, they'd rather settle by paying up :cheer:
