Oh my god u lot!!! This is beyond! There won't be a forum before long when genuine threads turn into a cat fight!!! Nothing has been said that should upset anyone! ADVISE is all that's been given and not everyone would think the same!!!
Would like to know if these babies were bf every 3 hours what would u do then???? There is no other option!

Instead of reporting the thread and trying to get it closed down how about stop commenting as the OP has asked for advice and her completely normal thread is getting turned into this! Xxx

I've read through all the posts and I'm not criticising anyone here but personally I wouldn't offer water to extend feed times. Current advice is to feed on demand. Babies don't over feed. They take what they need to grow and survive. By giving water in place of milk you could cause his weight gain to slow as it has no nutrition for him. I was told babies don't need water between feeds unless constipation is an issue. I only ever had that problem once. I have only been offering Mia water since starting her on food.
It's your baby and your choice but my baby used to feed every two hours taking about 3oz and eventually they do go longer but remember at 8 weeks their tummies are tiny and can't handle large volumes of milk that's why they feed often.

Sorry but I disagree on the overeating since Jackson ended up over eating nd feeding frequently and I was advised to offer water by hv I did, it worked. That's all I was saying. Xxxx

Comfort eating happens when they.have reflux, they will bring up excess milk otherwise. I dont think anyone is arguing you are not right to give him water, if you spoke to.HV and he was in pain from overeating, then its the best thing for your baby.
But what i am saying is water isnt necessary for every.baby if they dont have problems.
Do you see what i mean?

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

Yes but his over eating ends up a routine and that has to be broken.

If you go back a few pages you will se I have says I know every baby is diff and if she's not sure she can consult her gp hv or whatever.

And jackson over eating stopped but left him in an un even pattern of feeding which is what I've said aswell. So technically yes it was to space out feeds and get him back to his normal 4 hours which he is.

Well i have reportes cause it got out of hand. I just dont see a reason to start an argument. We all shared experiences and they are all different, i am sure op will ask.her HV and decide based on her situation

exactly, all we have done is offer advice throughout and obviously its been taken as criticism, so silly!

It hasn't been reported because of the OP, everyone offered her advice, that was taken out of context and now people are being rude, so its got out of hand.

That's ok babyem I was just explaing why I gave him it lol, I didn't want all of this :o xxxx

I hope newbie has the answer to her question before the thread gets closed :( x

I think the trouble here is that people don't offer advice anymore... Newbie asked for advice and RM gave it, her advice wasn't awful, is not going to cause any health issues and is just ADVICE what people fail to recognise is everyone's parenting technique is different, what works for one person is great but may not work for another, so the current advice (not law!) is to feed babies on demand if that works for you great, if it doesn't then feed your baby how YOU see fit, as long as your child is healthy and gaining weight what is the problem??? So fricking dictatorish!!!

Newbie, im sorry your thread has turned out like this. As others have said, ask hv or gp if unsure. Its your choice though and I hope you manage to get sorted soon :) xx

I am not trying to say you have given wrong advice or anything but it sounded to me like your and OP's situation were very different. My lo had reflux so i do.know they can comfort eat which makes it worse so definitely not arguing that.
I guess writing on tinternet comes across very different than real life convo and people end up reading different things

Im so sorry you feel that way :(
As mummys were bound to want the best for our babies and maybe sometimes this clouds our judgement and how we view other peoples approaches xxx
