Oh my days!! What a thread :D

My son was formula feed and suffered terrible with constipation, cool boiled water was advised and worked well. Right from 6 weeks he had a few sips of boiled water here and there. And i know the topic was 'extending feeds', but formula feeding is so different to BF, i was even advised to offer boiled water as FF babies can get thirsty...and i don't know about you lot but my LO didn't have a separate 'i'm thirsty, not hungry cry'. So if he went 3 hours and seemed he wanted feeding again i'd offer a few sips of water, if he spat it up or cried 5 mins later he got his milk. I think all is needed is a little bit of common sense, and patience, it's easy to figure out if you watch/listen to your baby. As for the growth spurt issue, i always made my bottles with an oz extra in, so if he was taking 5oz i'd put 6 in the bottle. Once he started clearing the 6oz i'd make up 7oz bottles. His milk was always there for him if he wanted/needed more.

I think asking GP/MW/HV for advise before trying something new is always a good step. But still you have to take what they say with a pinch of salt as no baby is the same as the other. So really it doesn't matter if you ask as 'professional', the ladies on here, your mum or joe blogs round the corner....it's all trial and error.

This bubs may end up formula fed also and if he does, small amounts of water will be offered, if he takes it he takes it if not, no worries :)

As for the lady parts names :D I must be a dirty mare as i've heard of all of them! Haha

Oh My...

Everyone has been brought up doing different things and well the world would be a very boring place if we always agreed. At the end of the day we're all doing what we think is best for our babies.
The whole point of this forum is to ask for advise, you're always going to receive different advise and opinions from people. But then you listen to all the different advise and you decide what is best for your baby and if you're still not sure it's always best to ask your HV/GP.

My LO was ff and I fed on demand. She'd have a few ounces of cooled boiled water if she was constipated. I was told by my HV that formula is enough to keep them hydrated. I would personally go with LO's feeding pattern.

Tapatalking :)

Also, I was told by my parents when I was little that my lady parts were called a Tuppence

Tapatalking :)
