***December babies! Tri 2 :) ***

yeyeyey it's raining - sorry sun lovers but it was all a bit much for me!

Hows everyone doing? I booked my gender scan for just over 3 weeks time but we've not decided if we will tell anyone
I only have next week and then I am officially a part timer which will be nice as I get to spend some time with my not so little baby.

I am having a problem but I don't know if it's pregnancy related but basically my tailbone is really sore and when I sit it feels like its about to come through the skin - its the only way I can describe it. I haven't fallen or anything so i'm not sure what to make of it.

Mumbear, ouch that sound painful. Never heard of anything like that being pregnancy related so I'm unsure. Yay for you going part time though! That'll be nice for you xx

I'm having a car seat crisis. Fallen in love with the Cybex Cloud Q, it fully reclines, brilliant, but it's so bloody heavy, without a baby even in it. Don't know if it would be a stupid decision to get it xx

Haha! It's cloudy here but still muggy, only had glimpses of the thunder, not enough to clear the air!

We are 'not finding out', well, we are but we aren't telling anyone! I've spoken to a few people about it and they think think it's all secretive and weird. But I think it's a nice surprise for everyone else! Part of us doesn't want to find out ourselves as it was so lovely last time. I think to stop all the guesses and winding us up, we're just going to say that we aren't finding out. It'll be too much and I'll get annoyed with people trying to get the answer out of me!

That sounds painful mumbear.

Thanks for the update on what they done at 16 weeks debz. My son is nearly 9 so we feel like first time parents again. I love Pinterest and they have good lists on there of essentials for baby and your hospital bag etc!

Nicki, so glad you're getting to go part time. Hopefully that's the answer to helping you feel a bit better about work.

I can't believe we're almost at the stage of being able to find out what we're having. Hubby still won't let me find out but I loved the surprise first time around so I'm sure I will again. I'm convinced I'm having another boy though!

I haven't thought about car seats much at all. I think we're going to use to car seat that's with the pram for the early days when it's nice and light then get a decent car seat down the line! Have you all been looking at prams? Xx

Leah I feel like we've been twinned up on this whole journey all the way through! This sounds exactly like what they've said to me - except without the IVF, possible growth/placenta issues. So....fingers crossed after our 20 weeks scans that we have ourselves some big babies in there!

Isn't it first proper midwife session after your booking in? Heartbeat, re-check of urine, possible bloods again, measurements, weight etc. Just a progress check?

Sorry Helen just seen this. I think we have!! Although you're a few weeks ahead of me so I've totally copy cat you  I hope by 20 weeks everything is looking grand! They said baby is on the smaller side at the moment but that could be down to how sick I am so hopefully I'll feel better soon and things will catch up! As you're ahead though you'll be able to lead the way for me  xxx

Thanks for the advice. I'll need to have a look at some lists to get an idea of what we should be looking for. Think we are going to look for a travel system soon since that's one of the biggest things.

Sounds like lots of people are going for gender scans, im going to wait and let it be a surprise.

Good idea. I think your main things are a pram, car seat and a crib/Moses basket. You'll need those to get you started, along with your basics nappies wipes some sleep suits and vests etc. Bottles if you're going to bottle feed! I keep thinking we've loads of time but I know it'll be here before we know it. Especially being Xmas babies, I want to be totally organised with baby and Xmas presents (we have a massive immediate family) so I can hopefully relax in the weeks running up to Xmas and due date! We're also reconfiguring the upstairs of the house so need to get that done in amongst it all too :wall2:

We'll be having a surprise too debz :) whereabouts in Scotland you from? Xx

We started looking at prams the other day online but got overwhelmed with everything so will go in somewhere for a look soon. Don't really want to start buying anything yet but at the same time I'd like to spread the cost and get organised. It hit me yesterday how quickly time is flying as it was the longest day and we are due on the shortest so 6 months to go! Have so much to do to the house first so need to get cracking with that!

It feels strange with this being our second baby, we don't have to buy much at all. My daughter's room is still neutral and I we didn't sell much at all (not the big stuff anyway!)

The gender surprise at the birth was truly amazing with my daughter. I'd love that again but it's more practicality at the moment. If it's a boy I can be mentally prepared to move house in the future, and get over that too, as I love our house, well the area. If it's a girl they can share a room for a very long time hopefully. We also have a loft full of my daughter's clothing and it'll be good to know what we're doing with that! We aren't paying for a gender scan though. Just waiting until next month and fingers crossed baby behaves!

Hi ladies hope you don't mind me coming to join you :) so glad to have gotten to 13 weeks  had a scan Monday to chieck little sprout due to brown bleeding and all is fine. Still have my scan for Monday coming to which I'm looking forward to!

Quick question did any of you decide not to have the downs screening at 12 weeks? Myself and dp have been talking about it today and we're thinking of telling them not to bother doing it.
My sister was told all sorts would be wrong with her dd from she wouldn't even breath when born, to if she did she would be extremely disabled. Kept urging her to have a termination from 20 weeks right to the end.
She didn't however and my nice was perfectly fine  can you imagine if she had listened!!

Also I'm due the 28th if you could add me please :)

I was going to wait until after the 20 week scan to start shopping but would prefer to spread the cost so really should get started sooner than later. Same with xmas presents I've started a list so I can get that done and out the way early.

Jody pops - I'm the same looked online and just panicked at the amount of choices so we are going to go look in shops.

You guys will be busy doing lots of house stuff too, we are lucky we will just need to paint the nursery and kit it out.

Gems - I had the screening, luckily came back very unlikely. We wanted to be prepared for anything but hearing what happened with your sister would have put me off.

MrsS - I'm from Falkirk.

I'm just thinking if it did come back high then I wouldn't have anymore tests anyway as there's no way I even think about ending the pregnancy so why put myself under the stress and worry.
Just thinking along the lines of let nature take its course and what will be will be I think xx

I opted out of all screening. I've recently found out I'm a Carrier of a rare genetic chromosome condition and there was a chance it could have shown up saying I'm high risk, even though it's actually a different disorder, one that isn't life limiting or life threatening. I didn't want that sort of anxiety.

This is my 2nd but we literally got rid of everything xx

Yeah Gems if you know the screening isn't going to change anything you would do and just cause more stress for you I can see why you would opt out of it. It's a personal choice and you'll know what's best for you.x

We got our downs results low risk today, although we wouldn't do anything no matter the results, I'm a preparer and I'd need to know. But I totally understand why people would opt out!

We really need to spread the cost too, it's a bit overwhelming to have absolutely everything to buy so we need to get organised. My sil and mil are halving in together and getting us a chicco next to me which is fab to tick off the list! Xx

I'm wanting the Chicco next to me, it's the only thing I have actually seen that I want just need to see how the budget goes if I can get it or not.x

I don't know if we'd be getting that if I never had them offer to pay for it. We were just going to get a Moses basket but felt it wouldn't last long and a cot won't fit in our bedroom so we needed something longer lasting!

Forgot to say debz I'm Glasgow so not far from you! Xx

It's each to their own for the screening. My friend opted out. I had a phone call two days after my scan to say I've got a low growth hormone (one of the ones the use to get a result for Down's etc) I'm now on aspirin and have a consultant. I take it if you opt out you'll still get that hormone measured in a blood test? X

Thanks ladies, I've definitely made put my mind and I'm not having having it done.
Victim still going to have the routine bloods so I would assume so. I just don't want the screening done through the scan after what my sister went through, to think they wanted her to end the pregnancy of her beautiful little girl for nothing just plays on my mind. At the time all that was happening even I said if I was was in her shoes I would end it! X

Yeah Vic think they will still do standard checks to do to make sure you are ok and your pregnancy is progressing even if you don't want the screening done.
