****December 2014 mums to be! Christmas babies!!*****

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the add, Goat!

I hope that you are all well. We are not going to have a gender scan, but will ask at our next one. We were told at our last one that it is probably a girl, but two of my friends were told the gender early on and it changed at their 20 week scan, so we will see!

****TMI Alert****
I just went out for an amazing meal, one of my last here. I ate a vegetable based dish and had a very rich chocolate cake as dessert. I also drank sparkling water. On my way home, I started getting a pain in my chest, I think it was like indigestion, but prior to getting pregnant I have never had this, so am a bit unsure. Then started sweating quite a bit and ended up throwing up on the kerb twice! I got home and was in agony, sweated profusely for 5 minutes and threw up again constantly for 5 minutes. After this the pain was gone and I felt human again!

Do you think this was indigestion and is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?!

Thanks for your help and sorry if it was TMI!!!

Lozza sounds like it might have been indigestion. Like you it's not something I'm normally prone to so not sure what the best remedy is sorry.

Just about to head off to work. Really have the Monday blues! Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing x

Goat I love your idea with the cake that's fab!

OH and I want to stay team yellow but we are moving abroad as soon as the baby is born and we have to ship everything we need out this summer to get there for when we arrive - so practically we probably need to know, otherwise the baby will be spending it's first 12 months in lemon!

Guess that's me over to tri 2 today I'm 13 weeks today!!!

** due date 15th December **
** 20 week scan 29th July **
** Team Yellow (1st baby) **

Morning ladies! Well I seem to have ballooned over night, I have a lovely little bump now. The girls in work were admiring it this morning for the first time. I have got a dress on though which probably shows it off a little more but I don't have to hide it anymore. I just love being pregnant (so far anyway!).

I'm due 20th December and 20 week scan date is 3rd August. We've both been in agreement from the start to find out the sex as we think it's just easier to plan for. Not that we plan to buy much but focusing on choosing a name etc, decorating nursery. I thought it was a boy, and hubby has said a girl from the beginning, but after our scan picture I'm thinking according to how the nub looks it could be a girl.

I started compiling a list over the weekend of essential things I'll need to get. OMG it all seems very daunting and expensive. I'm planning on only getting the minimum essentials but a relative at the weekend told me the best thing they bought was a portable video monitor and she uses it all the time otherwise she would have gone mad checking to see if baby was ok whilst asleep. I've also heard that the sensor monitors are good. All pricey though £100 up.

It's difficult to know at this early stage what we will need to plan to buy ourselves and what family and friends will offer to get as gifts - birth and Christmas.

Lovely bump Jai!

Lozza - I had a horrendous feeling of heart burn, uncomfortable-ness feeling a number of weeks ago but I changed my bras to the sporty type with no underwire and this did the trick for me. I was popping the gaviscon like mad thinking it was hunger pains or indigestion until loosening my bra when we were flying back from hols and it worked. This might be worth a try? I also can't stand anything tight fitting around my neck or tummy.

I think Groupon have a deal on the pampers box of 72/74. £9.99 & £2.00 something delivery. This may seem like a silly question but I can't work out what size nappies I would need for newborn. I think I need Pampers New Baby size 1?

Tesco are £12.00 buy one get one free.

Depends on size of the baby, but a 'average' sized baby will go into 1s fine. We ended up needed premie (or micro) nappies for H has he was tiny, but he quickly travelled up the nappie sizes as disposables don't seem to "fit" him quite right. He's already in size 5s at 11 months, and my little sister who is 2 is in size 3s lol.

But I'd say 1s are fine, as long as you don't end up having a mega-bubba! X

Also Aldi nappies are by far the best! Much cheaper than pampers & are very absorbant, and they dont have the distinctive 'chemically' smell that other nappies have.

Saying that though, Pampers are my 2nd fave.

Can't believe I'm going to have two in nappies, gonna cost a fortune!

Oh & another thing, stock up on cotton wall balls or pads for cleaning babies bum with in the beginning, even the purest wipes can contain harsh chemicals so it's better to start with warm water & cotton wool until there skin is a bit tougher. But if you can, try & get hold of some waterwipes for when you are out & about, they are pricey but are worth taking with you instead of faffing with cotton & water when your in a public bathroom x

Thanks Sara this is really useful. We do our grocery shopping in Lidl (Don't have an Aldi very near) and hubby had a quick look at their nappies and said they were really cheap. To be honest I think I will just get them to try. I have nothing better to compare them too so worth trying. I find all their other products brilliant so I'm sure they will be ok.

My sister in law uses the Asda Angels nappies and she say's they are really good, and half the price of Pampers. I did look into reusable nappies but it just seems so much to spend in the outlay costs and we may not end up sticking with them. Think it's going to be disposable for us. I best get other dust bin to hold all these nappies as black bag collection is once a fortnight with us!

Sorry I juist had to share this with you - I'm coo-ing, and ahh-ing over the beautiful cute little things they have on Not on the Highstreet - they have lots of super cute things on there!

I just ordered them. Couldnt resist at that price

Great photo JaiandLeigh. Lovely bump. X

Has anyone had any cravings yet? Mine is the crisps Skips. I was having a packet at half 4 this morning lol

I had a Skips addiction! Two bags at a time, so darn good. I had to stop buying them in because I'd have them over anything. They are so delicious and I swear they taste even better pregnant. I lived on them when I wrote my dissertation, my OH would buy huge multipacks and leave me in a locked room to work ;)

I really want some now. Probably means I should eat some fruit.

Also, are we migrating? If so, I'm due 22nd December, I have my dating scan on the 16th June, we'll be sticking with team yellow and this is my first pregnancy/baby. Twelve weeks today!

I had said in another thread that I have the 'my supermarket' app only phone so if you want to buy brand named nappies/wipes etc then get this app so that you can see where the best price is for buying it that week. Also it works out the price per nappy for you and takes offers into account so you can always work out which deal makes the best sense overall. Despite all the offers, Aldi nappies almost always work out cheaper and have won loads of awards so think we'll be using them.

I'm off work today, threw up this morning and there was some blood in it. Doctor thinks I've either torn a little bit of my oesophagus or I have swallowing blood from my nose as I was do violently sick over the weekend. I have to monitor in case I show signs of it being a stomach ulcer but they thought it was probably one of the less sinister options x

Hope you feel better soon Rose. I've already told myself if I'm not well at all during this pregnancy that I will be putting myself and baby first and if I need time off I will be resting up. I've always worked late etc in the past before, made myself ill etc and I don't know why I did it looking back!

I'll have a look for this app.

Hi ladies!! I'll add the newest tri 2 graduates shortly!

Rose, hope you feel better soon chick.

Cariad I totally agree with you about putting yourself first. With my daughter I remember going into work with a stinking cold and temperature. I look back now and think wtf did info that?! Now I couldn't give a toss, I've been at the company for 6 years and have always been so hardworking but now I'm taking my pregnant women rights and taking it easy. I've just negotiated when I'm back at work in a couple of weeks I'll be working Monday, Wednesday and Friday from home. I'll then be lumping all my annual leave together and going on mat leave at this earliest time my company will allow it - 27 weeks. Which means with the annual leave, I'll be on leave from August. I can't wait!

The topic of nappies still confuses me! My daughter was 8lbs2 and fitted in newborn nappies for 2 weeks, size 1s for 2 weeks, size 2 for about a month, maybe 2. Then in size 3s for about 3-4months. Then from 6-7 months the growth slowed as she started crawling and walking but at 16 months she's now in size 5+. So the first month or two you will probably see them smash through the nappy sizes.
Personally I found Tescos and pampers to be the best. But when a pooexplosion happens I know of no nappy that can completely contain that!!

I'm so thankful that there are already a few experienced mummies on this thread! I'm so clueless... I was just thinking about nappies and baby wipes rather than cotton wool and water. How long would you recommended taking this softer approach for baby prior to taking the easier route of baby wipes? Xx

I think I did it for the first 6 months. At home. Away from home I used wipes.x
