****December 2014 mums to be! Christmas babies!!*****

Goat isn't it just awful when you so want something you can't have! It just makes you want it more eh?

I'm feeling ok. Just exhausted but at least the weekend was here x

Hey don't whinge teachers at least you get the summer off! Even though I work in a Uni I don't work term time only. I'm very jealous!

Have any of you given some thought to how much maternity leave you plan to take and whether you'll go back full or part time, and if part time, how part time? Sorry I'm being nosey! I need to inform my employer officially with my intentions of these once I get firm from midwife at 20 weeks.

Cariad I don't get any summer etc off either as I'm in the private sector x

I'm not sure how long I'm taking off but thinking about 6 months and will be going back full time as couldn't afford part time with mortgage etc. Luckily working in a nursery I have child care sorted x

Last time I went on leave at 36 weeks and took 14 months off.

This time I'm going on leave at 27 weeks and going to aim to do the same.

When are you all thinking on going on leave?x

I'm going to try and work up as far as I can...I hope....that's the plan anyway

Hoping to work until mid nov and then stay off until end if school year which will mean I'm officially back on 1stjuly but nit back til mid August! Didnt work so well for me last time as didnt get paid holidays as lo was born in July

I'm going to stop 1st December when I will be almost 38 weeks. I get 6 weeks full pay then 20 weeks half pay which takes me to end of May, I will then have accrued 2 weeks holiday which I have to take in term time before I come back so that covers me to middle of June then if I go back to work for the last week of school year I get paid full pay over the holidays as I have officially returned to work by doing that week. So long story short I will be taking 6 months maternity leave but then get almost another 3 if you add accrued holiday and summer holiday on top.

I would have to go back full time as I don't think the school could accommodate anything else - plus I plan to have the second fairly quickly so would want to be on full time maternity leave pay for that one! No idea what I will do about child care - my OH seems to think his mum (who is 70) will do it! I don't think she will somehow!!! I'd love to give up work but can't afford to x

Anybody else been told there blood group is O rhesus negative? I got a letter today which says occassionally this can coz probs so il need anti d injection xxx

I've had a huge craving for Parma ham and salami today!! So unfair I can't eat them.

You can! Freeze them for a minimum of four days to kill off any potential parasites and nom nom nom. It was one of the first foods I had to check after I got my BFP :) I actually went to look up my reference and the NHS page is actually ok about Parma ham (very bottom one). Up to you, but parma ham and melon, heaven on a plate.

I think I best start thinking and planning my leave then! You all sound so organised! We won't have anyone to depend on for help with childcare as family don't live near. It's going to be tough for us I think, and very expensive, but hey hoo we've wanted this for soooo long that we'll manage some how - others seem too!

I've also thought about baby no.2 (if we decide too) and if went back part time would struggle on my next maternity pay... Hard decisions to make!

Don't worry about this as my mum is rhesus negative and it just meant she had to have a jab when she was delivering us children. It's quite common and well managed.

Hi ladies! Hope you're all well. Newmom and Michelle I've added you both, Cazzie I've added in your 20 week scan. If I'm missing anyone or anything else please let me know.

Hope you're all well today!! I've had a lovely day but have a pounding headache!!xxx

Goat - I've been eating salami occasionally. I just grill it on bruschetta. To be honest I haven't stopped eating anything really. I don't eat pate anyway. I've had Brie and cranberry toasties a few times too, oh and half a pint of Guinness last weekend - that was a real treat!

Welcome newmom, so happy things are going better now, the early days are terrifying. Welcome to the group :) Are you US/Canada based? Going off the 'mom' rather than 'mum' ;)

I woke up feeling awesome with a thousand and one things to do and after doing three things on my list, felt sick, dizzy and like crying. I forget my body is more fragile and tempermental, it's working over time. I'm feeling a little better for a sit down though a little tearful still. Husband has put his back out and his osteopath app isn't until tomorrow so he's out of action bar his uni work he's soldiering on with. I've got so much to do, I don't think I can manage it today. Sorry, I feel like such a downer.

Based in the US. I know this forum is UK based but you ladies are so nice so I hope it's okay to stay.
Sorry you are having such a hard time of it. Hope fully your hubby feels better soon and you can get a bit of rest.

I would love to take a lot of leave but the max I get is four weeks before the birth and six weeks after at half pay. I'll be looking for a job this Summer and depending on when benefits kick in I could get a few more weeks. My husband works from home so he will be doing a lot of the childcare. I think he's both excited and terrified, haha.

Sparklebug, how amazing!!! I'm so going to try that.

Thanks also Cariad!!

I moved our gender scan to today as id double booked us up tomorrow. I'm so excited and nervous and also a little bit dubious baby won't cooperate. They'll also see if the SCH has gone down or with any luck has gone completley!

Happy 14 weeks to me! Yay :)

Goat good luck with your scan. Do you have any thoughts on what baby will be?

Newmom it doesn't matter where you're from, you're more than welcome to be here! X

You're very much welcome here so settle in!

I'm feeling better today though being woken at 6.15am by one of our cats singing on the roof was annoying! He likes to hang out there sometimes, love 'im. My husband is back from the osteopath with a diagnosis of 'brickies back', he's been manipulated and clicked mostly back into place but will need one more week of treatment. Not too bad really, I've seen him do a lot worse to himself.

Oooh, has anyone had strawberries and nutella before? Thinking about giving it a try...

Thanks Goat. What time do you have your scan? X

Just to let you guys know that Red Herring in Debenhams have some fab maternity stuff, I had some vouchers and treated myself to 3 work dresses! Really don't like wearing trousers ATM so I'm living in maxi dresses! They're so comfortable with my growing bump! Xx
