Closed - old IVF thread

Oh Skeando, sorry your still waiting for AF - right pain in the bum

Lou - you soo right about the white bikini thing (I wore ivory on my wedding day and had to get a little wedding bag last minute to carry my huge lillets around in....)

Skeando - wear red instead and have a lovely holiday, just what you need before your IUI resumes...

lol JJ! I can just imagine you on the beach with a giant bridal purse stuffed with sanny towels

Sounds like a very exotic wedding though :)

Nahh it was sunny Berkshire in a golf club ...... but your exotic one sounds better ! ha

How you feeling with everything now Lou... Do you feel ready for this next cycle?

When you said I was right about the bikini thing and you had ivory on, I thought you meant an ivory bikini lol! :rotfl:

I'm feeling alright thanks :) Pretty good. All of my stresses have been pretty much addressed so I'm feeling a bit more relaxed.

I seem to have OV'd on track so am on schedule for AF on the 24th when I'll have to arrange an antral follicle scan and then confirm the protocol and then it'll be all go! It's quite a good time of year to cycle I think because there are so many other things going on, come December I'll have number 5 behind me :good:

I'm not even trying to think of BFP or BFN or anything, it's good to just be able to have another chance. I'm trying to be appreciative :oooo:

It's bloody hard work

Have you got any further with your ponderings? xx

That's great Louise, you sound quite convincing there, of your just being appreciative attitude, I think thats a really good place to be in, in your head.. does it feel like you haven't had a break, your back in the thick of it very quickly, which may help you actually feel like it's just continuing rather than stopping.

Yes I have got a lot further with my ponderings actually  thankyou..

I am afraid technically I am leaving the lovely world of IVF behind me, I shall not be returning to it, either way.. I have a new master plan cooking...:dance:which for me being an old bird , may have a slightly higher chance of sucess.

I won't post it here, I will use the secondary fertility section, in a min, but I will be posting in here about all you lots iui and ivf , as I feel honorary one of you now, having done it, and I want to see all of your bfps and keep updated with your journeys

good luck ladies, I'm routing for you XX

Nice try to get me into the secondary fertility section, but i can see your ticker you know... ;)

I'm glad you've got a master plan figured out and i really hope it works out, it would be amaaaazing :good:

No it doesn't really feel like i've had a break, but this whole IVF thing is pretty much rooted into my identity and lifestyle now and i honestly don't feel like i've had a break from it since it started, even if i haven't been cycling at the time.

It's just the way things are - constant stress and disappointment

I hope you do hang around xx

Hi,

Can I join you ladies on the IVF thread. We have been told that our appointment at the IVF clinic is on 22nd Feb 2013 we are both really excited. We will be having ICSI and I guess it will start after my period following the 22nd Feb

Good luck to us all xx

Of course you're welcome :good:

I'll stick you on the list :)

It's a bit quiet in here atm, not many people wanting to chat unless they're having a cycle themselves but hopefully it'll pick up xx

Hello and welcome Clairabella - great you have a date now for your consult!! Really nice to have something to work towards... I'd use the time to read up on ivf as much as you can , it will really help to be ahead of the knowledge before you start as best you can and then it will help prompt some more questions you may have when you do go to your consult - if in doubt ask Lou, shes a right IVF expert!!

Does your clinic have open evenings, or info before your consult? mine had one where you can go and it had loads of info during a presentation and then you knew the tests etc you had to have before your treatment started, so you can get ahead of the game.. (mind you I was self funded, so maybee if your nhs it might not be an issue as much). There were an awful lot I remember

Just went and checked in my journal incase info is any help- we both had to have HIV, HepC, HebB antigen and HepB antibody done, then I also had my rubella status done and also a full hormone profile at a set time during the month, (think CD2-5). All the blood tests need re-doing every year!
Hubby had to have semen analysis done too and then we had a consults appointment to sign the official paperwork and then a trial embryo transfer and baseline scan , then after all this we could then ring up on the next cd1 and kick things off. hope that helps

Hi Clairabella,
We went through ICSI too. Hope the time passes quickly for you until Feb 22nd :) the only thing I can think of to say preparation wise is make sure you're taking your folic acid! lots of luck to ya :) x

Hi Clairabella, it is a little quite in here atm but I think most of us are still lurking about

Hope it doesn't drag too much for you until your appointment, I'm sure it won't.

Hi there,

Thank you for making me feel so welcome in the IVF thread. I am reading up on just about everything to do with ICSI at the moment aNd I find that it helps me to deal with the wait until Feb. Our close families know about our infertility issues and they have been very supportive and I am so glad that we decided to share the fact that we are waiting for IVF.
I called our clinic and had a chat to the receptionist about what to expect in Feb and she advised that we will have a presentation about IVF and discuss the treatment with the consultant and we will also be shown how to use the meds.
She then advised that I will need to call the clinic on the first day of my period.
Me and OH are really excited just like we were when we first started TTC. I have stocked the kitchen full of healthy foods and cut out all alcohol I really want to be in the best possible shape ready for the treatment. My OH is being very strict with himself with regards to alcohol... He wasn't a big drinker but did like a pint or two after football with the lads but he has now decided to give it up. His friend is having a night out in a few weeks to wet his babies head and my OH is going to drive I think he is going to mention our IVF to his mate so he doesn't look like a party pooper. I actually feel sorry for him having to explain why he is off the booze but I guess I've been doing that for the last 12 months ha ha.
I think I will contact the clinic again and see if the have any open evenings to discuss IVF. I was thinking about going to the infertility show in London but it's a 4 hour drive from where I live.

I'm looking forward to sharing all of our experiences and thanks again for you replies xxx

Oh damm it.... I need to change my tracker I've just noticed that I'm fertile! I want to save all of my eggs for our IVF. On the positive I keep thinking about the dr telling us that there is a 1% chance that we could conceive naturally- well a girl must have hope ha ha xx

Congratulations! Your ticker is really cute. I will have a read of journal and you ICSI experience xx

That all sounds really good Claira :)

Even i still mentally go through the occasional 2ww even though it'd be on par with me developing xray vision, to conceive naturally ;)

Hey Clarabella - Don't forget to get your fella on conception vitamins now and they will have a good bit of time to take effect on his swimmers buy the time you start. its one regret I have now that I didn't make him before... We hope to ttc without ivf in a few months , and so bless him my oh and I have been taking his and hers conception vits for a couple of weeks now, must order some more actually - figured it can't hurt, and apparently it can make a big difference.

Thanks I will add the vits onto my shopping list for today. I did take pregnacare when we first started ttc but I found that they gave me heartburn for some reason. I'll give them another try and see his I get on.
X

I had my ovarian assessment yesterday, so blood and scan :) I won't have the blood results until next week but she said i had around 12 follicles on each ovary which was "very good"... so whatever that means. Probably that they expect me to have a super response so will keep my dosage on the lowest even though it's been falling consistantly with every IVF cycle :(

I've got a 3DSIS booked in for the 1st Nov too :)

Lou -(see im still here!) once an ivf gal, always an ivf gal I say......

yay for the ovarian assesment - thats more folicles than I got on my baseline scan pre treatment, so yay, but I know what you mean worried re dosage now... sure you will make sure they know about dropping follies, although you did well on your belgium cycle , push for same dosage ...

What is a 3Dsis then? is it a hospital nurse/sister that is always in your face and won't leave you alone..... ha sorry

Wheres Scotch and Tinks and GreekGirl.....then..... come back ladies..... Tinks you must be starting IUI , I'm sure you said october..... any news yet on your dates to start or have you already....? KayKay - not long for you now tooo for your IUI..- very exciting.

Hey Lou looking at your ticker, we could be bump buddies......
