I know that it depends of 1 zillion factors but roughly when you were able to care for yourself and the baby without help?

And at the first days with what did you need help with?

Trying to be organized here as my oh cant stay too long home with me so I want to be realistic and see what we
can already do to make our life easier after the little chunk is here...

I think it took me about a week, maybe a bit more! I just found I was really tired more than anything! When I had E I was back living wwith my parents and my mum's a control freak  but I was out shopping with them both by the time she was a week old!

I would say a week, but I had a section x

I was at a wedding the 7 th, she was born on the 1st x

I had to look after Harry on my own the first night after he was born as I was alone in the hospital. It was hard especially with the section. My first full day alone wasn't until he was 2 weeks old after DH went back to work and visitors had gone home. Xx

First days I needed help with just having time to go for a shower, get some sleep and keeping the house tidy. Xx

Wss!
My dd is 1 week old today, and being able to leave her with dh while I have a shower is brilliant. But I'm doing good, was out grocery shopping with her yesterday.
Its a little uncomfortable to be on my feet for too long, but I can get around and do things just fine :) x

Tapatalking from my blackberry!

OH doesn't get paid if he doesn't work so he isn't going to take much time off.

I expect an overnight stay after bub arrives so I imagine I'll have to fend for myself quite early on (you can be discharged without staying in depending on time of day bub is born?)

I think flexibility is key, I know OH will be there and if need be he can take time off - worse case scenario I have my folks and the in-laws close by to lend a hand

xxxxxxxxxx

A bit over 2 weeks, but I'm sure I was a particular mess.

I had an episiotomy and it toook me about 2.5 weeks to get out and about.
I was living at my mums which was a godsend as it took me ages to do anything. x

I had a straight forward birth but lost a fair big of blood and developed anaemia. I felt like crap for a week and couldnt of managed without my hubby and mum.
With regards to type of help - mum fed me and hubby did majority of nappy changes - I was so dizzy I would near pass out if I lifted B up off the floor or from his crib! Basically I was in charge of feeding B and resting!

Hope I don't sound like an idiot for saying this... But iv felt worse having a hangover than giving birth. I really felt fine almost straight away. Over whelmed and a bit teary (with happiness)
My boyfriend is amazing... And did all the housework etc... He's kept on top of washings and made dinners. But as for getting up and out and about iv been fine. I went into town on my babies 4th and registered him. And have had him out and about everyday since then.
I can honestly say iv felt great.xxx

Wow Lolly! Slightly envious!

I had a long back to back labour with LO trying to escape face first which ended in an assisted delivery with an episiotomy, so I feel like I've been in a fight.

I've been out once to the breastfeeding centre for an hour but it inflamed my stitches so I now plan on just resting at home.

Hopefully your recovery will be short.
Xx

Oh FirstBaby - sounds awful... But totally worth it!
I had a 2nd degree tear, or so my notes say... But it's been fine.
Back to back labour must have been so sore.
I was very straightforward... Think that's why I feel so ok.xxx

Yes completely worth it and I'd do it all again for him in a heartbeat.

There were parts of my labour that we're absolutely magical, precious and a really special time, up until he rotated back to back, then I would have shot myself given half the chance.

Each day I'm so much better than the day before and if Im havung a down moment all i have to do is look at my little boy and melt
Xxx

Aw that's sooo sweet - and true! Just goes to show all babies are sooo different! And anything can happen :)
I'm dreading having another baby because I know iv been so lucky and probably won't get the same again!xxx

I have a 2nd degree tear was cut right along perineum and got an infection. Took me nearly 3 weeks to feel great and resumed sex life at 4 weeks. Will do it again for my little man. Just pleased I don't have to lol. Cx

I had a cut and lots of stitches, plus large blood loss but I was up and about/ driving etc 4 days later.

This sounds awful but 6 hours after having my first I was shopping in Tesco, I felt fantastic, I don't by any means think that is the case for everyone or even a minority I think i was extremely lucky... It was a normal vaginal delivery with no complications or pain relief.

My second took a month to recover from, emergency c section with complications and a stay on ITU.

This time I'm hoping for somewhere in between but the point is i think it's extremely variable

:-) xxxxx
