Birth recovery

Haha! I do love my wee niece to bits... But there's quite a few things I notice she does that drives me mad and I will look out for and make sure my LO doesn't follow suit! Haha... She's a good girl, but the fussy eating thing too! Drives me nuts x

I think this baby bit is the easy stage :) wait till there crawling and walking and we need eyes on the back of our heads!xxx

Want to trade??! The little chilled out dude I came home from the hospital with seems to have been replaced with a proper shouter :)

I'm day 12 and my stitches are still giving me grief, if I walk around too much my foof seems to swell up and ache :( hope it goes soon as its well annoying not being able to crack on with stuff.
Xxx

Oh no! He's just demanding all the fuss :) ha!
Have you tried laying a cool face cloth on them if you get like that, and take ibuprofen?xxx

I soaked my stitches in healing salts every night and morning in the bath. I also sat with no knickers on after wards to get air to them ( lay on towel of still bleeding) I ended up with an infection so get checked by ur doctor. Xxx

It's different for everyone. I had a quick labour (just under 3 hours) and ended up with a 3rd degree tear. Was in hospital almost a week, but once i was home i was keen to get out and about. Did my first shop when she was 9 days old with OH (was sore but felt so much better for getting out). I think the rest in hospital did me the world of good. OH helped around the house for the 2 weeks he was off, but one thing I will say is if they give you painkillers to go home with then deffo take them, dont feel like a wimp. They really helped me get on with normal activites like showers etc xx

Oh and a drop of tea tree oil ina jug of warm.water is great. I poured it on my bits every time after I went to the loo. It defo helped healing and i didnt get an infection

Tapatalking so cant see signatures

knop where do you usually find tea tree oil? though i am in norway so who knows if we even have that, but is it the health stores that sell that? or maybe pharmacies?

i just saw that they dont sell it here, it has been banned because of increased risk of allergies if you accidentally use it undiluted :(
hopefully i will find sth else...
maybe chamomille would be ok too, it has the same antibacterial properties.

Drink loads of water!! I had bottles of it in the fridge, and just kept drinking all day long. If your breastfeeding it's thirsty work.
But also dilutes your pee, I noticed a difference when I hadn't drank enough water. I only had a few stingy pee's x

Also when peeing bend forward and touch the floor, it helps reduce the stinging xx

I pour cool water over them regularly and take pain killers. I hasn't thought of keeping one in my pants though - will give it a try xxx

Yeah I do this, which really helps and drinking gallons of water too.

Thanks for all the tips ladies will defo be trying them out. The Mw is checking my stitches in Friday as it feels like the Registrar has sewn me a new bit :/ don't remember it being there before but it might be because my foof is still swollen.
Xx

Eeeekkkk! No-ones checked mine...
I might have to be brave and have a look xxx

mine took weeks to heal, then someone told me to put a couple of drops of tea tree oil on a pad and it worked wonders!! x

Girls when you say 4 and 6 weeks was that for you to feel completely ok or you needed help with the baby and do simple things at the house?

With my first it took 8 weeks before I could sit/walk/do the toilet ect without pain. I was able to do things from 1st day, just with a lot of pain involved.

We had planned for me to do nothing the first few days but it never works like that. You need 2 ppl, one to attend to baby, other to do washing, cleaning, cooking ect. And if you have no help/OH at work, you just need to do it all yourself!! No option!

As someone else said - you just manage!! So try not to worry, however it works out, you will manage!!

xxxxx

1st birth 2006 - induced at 39+5 with pethadine, epidural - was alone first night and home next day and was able to do everything for myself and baby.

2nd birth - natural 39+6 no painrelief at all, water birth - came home same day and was doing everything straight away :)

when I say doing everything myself, my DH was with me and made me meals etc, but I could do things for myself, just nice to have someone do it to give me a little rest :)

I like tea tree but my sister is allergic to it. Maybe lavender oil? It is good for heeling and preventing infections but less people have reactions to it.

First baby i had back to back also, labour lasted 48 hours, the pain of those contractions has left me scared it'll be the same again wth another baby especially since my epidural failed. I spent two days getting sick everywhere from pain.

After birth i was fine, i think its more adrenaline and wanting to show off your gorgeous baby :)

But i found if i did too much the stiches got quiet painful. They got very tight one day i didnt think i could walk back to car s id be weary of that xx

Also if you do have stiches then plenty and plenty of water, even more i would say probably through labour so when u do eventually pee ur wee will be really dilaluted and shouldnt sting as much this is what i wanted to do but threw any bit of water back up so i did the whole touching the floor jug o water trick xx

I really can't stress enough how much I think water helped me. I drank loads through my labour too, my boyfriend still makes a joke he was just the Waterboy. And at home I was always drinking it. And I only had a few stingy pee's and it was when I hadnt drank as much water. Plus if your breastfeeding you will be really thirsty!xx
