This might seem to be a very random thread as I had my LO just over 6 weeks ago. But I have been reading some of the birth announcements where ladies have had back to back labours and had the urge to push early on. I had this from around 3-4cm, and had intense constant pains even between the contractions, is it possible LO was back to back? I don't know if he was cos we had an emergency section.

So is the urge to push early on a sign of back to back labour? Xx

I had a back to back labour but didn't feel the urge to push at all. Do you still have your discharge notes? It should say in there the baby's presentation xx

I didnt have any urge to push till i was fully dilated!! I just had the most intense labour pains in my back that wouldnt make it round to my front!!
xxxx

I don't know where I have put my discharge notes as the hv took most of them. I'm not sure if it would even say on them as he was born by c section.

I don't think I had pains in my back, it was uncomfortable but I think that was from sitting on the bed being monitored. I remember having my DH roll up my trousers to support my back.

I wonder where the urge to push early comes from then? Xx

Dunno, I felt like I wanted to poo (TMI) all the time tho during my labour but I naively just thought that was waht every labour felt like!! The midwife just smirked when I told her and said oh he is back to back and it will be the most painfull type of labour!! Smashing!! Lol!!
xxxx

I had the urge to push a long time before I was actually allowed. I had pains 3-4 mins apart right from the start too.

They told me the baby was facing the wrong way very early on and told me to sit on the ball and swing my hips to move her. It didn't work though.

The head didn't come down much as at all so I had to have rotational mid cavity forceps to turn her around.

If I have other babies and I am told they are back to back I will be sitting on all fours for the last few weeks for sure.

I felt urge to push really early. I also thought the poo feeling was normal. Don't think my notes actually say - but mw though she might have been back to back, cos she seemed to spin on her way out. Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

My baby was back to back on my scan 2 weeks ago I'm hoping she has moved tomorrow

My lo was back to back, contractions never levelled out - would have one then a 15 min gap and two would come along at once. The pain was all in the back and hips and I remember telling my pertner that the birthing ball was evil cos it hurt so much! I had to go on a drip which they use for inductions so midwife could control them, I was lucky in that after 15 hours on the drip lo turned and we had ventouse delivery. But like Torino I will on all fours for weeks before next one if they are back to back! Lol! x x

I had the urge to push from 4-5cms, both back labours and born sunny side up. With my eldest they actually stopped me pushing for about two hours!! Fighting the urge to push was the most painful thing I've ever experienced! Xx

I could have written that myself, although no one bloomin' well knew which way baby was facing!

My baby had been in "perfect position" as they said for weeks even on the weds at last app she was the same. Went into labour that friday & they said she had turned back to back, got into pool and rocked on all fours for about 6 hours (labour lasted 48). I felt the urge to push early on definately. I rember i was only 6cm had on one contraction i had to push the urge was so much but nothing would happen it was just a huge urge. Il never forget those back pains though.

All three of my girls like their mother have no sense of direction and all decided to come face first , (my second child) took a long time to deliver but when I was threaten with a cut and possible forcepts I pushed her out she thanked me by poohing everywhere , my third was slow at first but when the midwife realized she was back to back she actually turned her with her hand and she popped out really easily after that. No 5 sat there for what seemed like forever ( was actually around 30 minutes) as I had no urge to push at all she kinda slipped out under her own stream but she did pooh inside so was alittle more of a worry to everyone . Hopefully this is a boy so he will come facing the right way. xx

I havent posted on here before , nor have I read about what the other ladies have written.

My LO was born at 5lb 10oz, back to back. It was excruitiating. I have never and i mean never felt piajn like I had. My contractions in the end had no gap between them and this went on fro over 48hrs in total. The say that it was harder as she was smaller and gravity couldnt help. It has taken me 5 yrs to contemplate another chuild. I feel for you lovely xxxx

my baby keeps going back to back at the moment. It seems to still have quite a lot of room in there as one minute its wee bum is poking out the front, and the next I can feel it turning all the way round!

I am not engaged yet, still 4/5 palpable and I am SO hoping that baby will get its act together and drop down in the right position.

am getting a little scared as have been told I might be induced at 40 weeks, which I know can make labour more painful and last longer, and I know back to back deliveries are more painful too. And I am not planning on taking any pain relief....... eeeekk

Good luck and I do hope your bubs turns in time , I've delivered all mine with only gas and air and fortunately no tears or cuts . I use positive thinking alot to cope with the pain xx

both my boys were born back to back. My first was absolutely excruciating, felt like someone was trying to snap my back in half but my second was an absolute breeze. Apart from my contractions having barely any brake between them towards the end, we only realised what position he was in when he came out staring at everybody lol x

Vincent was back to back, but no, no urge to push. Got an epidural later and any urge I might have had I didn't feel, I had to make myself push.
