Also,

I am trying to sort out maternity leave for my husband.

What does he need to do? If I have sent my MATB1 for off is he okay to use a copy for his work?

What is the rate of maternity pay for an employed person?

Hey PurdieCat, hope you’re doing well. Do you mean paternity leave? The current statutory allowance is for 2 weeks at £145 per week, although some companies offer more than the statutory allowance so best he checks with his employer. They don’t need to produce any evidence (such as the Matb) to ask for paternity leave as far as I’m aware xx

Congrats Elven! I was convinced mine was a girl and it turned out to be a boy.

Hey, hope everyone is doing ok? It’s really quiet over here and I’ve noticed the chat about it in the July group too, think people are switching over there!

I had my first wobble the other day when I hadn’t felt my little man move all day after some VERY active days. As I’m only 24 weeks I thought the midwife would be dismissive but she was so lovely and had me in straight away to check me over. She said she’d rather see me 1000 times when I’m unsure about movements then leave it and there be something wrong.

So I’m now starting to think about buying things for when baby is here...prams, cribs, life supply of pro-plus....have any of you got any bits yet? Any recommendations of prams and cribs gratefully received XX

Hey Niv

I have my first measurement appointment today where they measure your bump I’ll be 26 weeks on Tuesday only just over one week until third trimester mad!!! Aww bless you it’s always hard with your first as your constantly worry about everything even when they are born!! Well I did anyway! Haha!!

I have a bugaboo and love it and I let her sleep in that in the night instead of buying a crib or Moses basket and the switched to the cot later on when she was bigger and didn’t look so lost!! Xx

Let them switch we don’t care!!! Haha :) life is busy for me as I work full time and have a 16 month old and still in the midst of house renovations so get in here when I can!! Xx

Hope your appointment goes ok Mexico! Am I right in thinking that with your little girl you had to have extra scans because of her measuring small?

I’m completely clueless when it comes to prams and to be honest I’m really overthinking it. It’s now referred to as ‘pramgate’ in my house as I have a Pram dilemma on a daily basis! I’ll check out the bugaboo’s thanks XX

We've been given so much stuff by family I cannot see the room that is supposed to be the nursery :wall:

I'm so grateful to receive anything! but honestly? My shopping list was like;

Baby grows
Sling
Buggy
Cot
reusable Breast pads
Cloth Nappies.

Now I have a MILLION THINGS I DON'T EVEN NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED! if anyone would like a tommee tippee perfect prep machine, disposable nappies, some clothes, a bouncy chair, bottles etc...let me know! I'd like to decorate the baby's room hahaha x

Hi! Last week whilst I was off work on Easter hols I started worrying about movements too. Baby was moving but they felt different and she wasn't as active. I think I just got in my head as I wasn't busy with work. Feeling better this week but spent all of last week stressing and crying I'm usually chilled. Suppose we have a lifetime of worry now. I'm seeing my midwife next week. Xx

I'm going start getting things when I'm off for half term in May. So I'll be badgering you all with what I need - haven't got a clue!!

It’s so worrying isn’t it?! I think as well we hear so much everywhere about the importance of paying attention to movements, it can really make you anxious. Like I say, my midwife wanted to stress that she’d rather be able to see you and offer reassurance, so if you’re ever worried don’t feel bad about getting checked out xx

It must be really hard when you’re being given things you don’t even need! A lot of people have offered me bits because it’s just taking up storage in their house! But I’ve never done this before so I like the idea of baby shopping (I’m sure I’ll change my mind when I’ve spent all my money!) xx

I know!! And we're getting so closed to the end now it's getting overwhelming! And with hormones in the mix!! :oooo: xx

yes this is true! and I will probably pick at the clothes etc...but half the joy is going to pick it out yourself...even though the sentiment is lovely it is a tad frustrating!

If you think of anything you need, please let me know! I can check if I have it then.. Half of this stuff was gifts for them that never got used x

Yeah Niv measured small with my first have to see the midwife again next week to
Be measured as they are not suppose to measure until 26 weeks but I was measuring st 24.6 so I have to go up 1.5cm in a week otherwise I have to be referred for a scan to see if baby is measuring small or if it’s just me! Xx

We were supposed to be buying a crib yesterday but ended up buying a corner sofa for the garden   my argument was it will be nice to feed him in the garden... I think it worked
I'm going to Mothercare to try out the iCandy Peach but buying it online as it's a lot cheaper. I always wanted one with my son but couldn't afford it, were financially in a better state now and with this one being our last I though it would be nice to have one.
So far we have only bought a few bits of clothing etc, though last night we took our almost 7 year old shopping and he chose a blue shirt then came running over with the exact same one in 0-3 months saying he wanted it for his baby brother, he was so excited bless him. I don't normally like seeing siblings in matching clothes but seeing him so excited I just had to get it :)

Glad to hear everyone’s ok.

We’ve bought a few bits of clothing but that’s it. We’re going to one of those expectant parent events next weekend at Mothercare. I don’t know if they’re any good? There’s an Nct nearly new sale the following weekend, so I thought we’d buy more stuff there than at mothercare but we’d use the mothercare event to decide what we need/ want.

We’re meant to be starting to decorate the nursery but got back from holiday on Thursday to find water coming through the ceiling! In a Premier Inn (insurance) hoping to hear from the surveyor next week to find out what’s happening.

HI everyone we are just back from.a week In Majorca! My 21 month had an absolute ball. I think my bump has got bigger in the sun haha. I’ve still not met my midwife yet..they cancelled my appointment last week so hopefully I’ll get seen next week when I’ll be 25 weeks. Seriously left to my own devices x

We have been to an animal farm today with the 16 month old! But jeez I feel sick as a dog had a tuna panini for lunch and just hoping that doesn’t come back up as that will not be pleasant hubby is having a curry now! So much for adding 1.5cm by Friday!!! Looks like a scan will be on the cards for being small! Although I don’t bloody feel it!! Xx

Mexico- really hope you do measure ok by next week but if not at least you’ll get to see little bean again. Hope you’re feeling better now!

TTC - glad you had a lovely week away and I hope you get to finally see your midwife next week.

Red Eric- oh no I hope they sort out what’s wrong and you can get back home and back to decorating soon!

SarahTWD - a garden corner sofa sounds like a great choice haha and I love your reasoning behind it!

So my latest pregnancy symptom the past two days has been swollen feet, they basically look like elephants feet! I’m grateful for the sun but if my feet are like this now there is no hope for them in July! Hope everyone else is good xx
