****** April Mummies!!!! ******

Oh no idea Lynne I'm going girl.

Paid our deposit for our hypnobirth classes today - v excited now :D

Ah all the pics are so lovely! Can't wait for our scan on Monday - I'm going to be shocked if they don't say boy though! Hopefully bubba will not be being awkward like at 12 week scan!

Has anyone thought about doing the NCT antenatal classes? I'm umming and aahing, people recommend them but they are not cheap at £190ish!! Is anybody else doing these or can offer any insight?

We have absolutely no nct activity in our area :( but I can't wait to start the nhs classes :)

Well, it's nearly the weekend, and with everything we've got going on, the next few weeks will fly by. I'm just so tired this week though. What are all your weekend plans?

I'm going to do just the normal NHS antenatal classes as my friend paid for NCT ones & said they wasn't worth the money. When do we book into antenatal classes? Has anyone's midwife mentioned a hooping cough injection? I sure mine said something in my original booking in appointment? X

Nicky my MW advised booking the NHS classes around 20 weeks as they fill up quickly, also whooping cough jab after 28 weeks.

We're doing one on one hypnobirth classes in Jan, NCT in Feb/March and I am hopefully doing the NHS session about birthing at the birthing centre if they have room on that one. I better be super prepared!!

We're off to the in laws this weekend in South London which means a fun trip round the m25 after work :S picking up some hall furniture tomorrow then i'm seeing my best friend for some lunch and shopping. Hopefully on Sunday i'll have time to catch up with some housework and sleep!

I never bothered with classes after a friend told me they are a waste of time as when it comes down to it your body knows what to do and how much it can handle before needing pain relief, she said you don't even remember the classes! So I didn't do them but my body and mind did know what to do and the midwife always says breath haha. Gl to all doing classes though xx

OH no 3lm don't say that lol. my main reason for waning to do classes is to meet people round here, i'm from wales and moved to Watford because of my husbands job so I know no-one! Also when I was talking to the hypnobirth lady yesterday she said she had completely natural labours (no gas and air - nothing) after hypobirth with both her sons, one was 11lbs 3oz and the other 11lbs 13oz!!!! I feel like she might be a miracle worker.

Minus 5??? Brrrrrrrrr! Not that cold down here. :)

Feeling very grumpy about the weekend. Was meant to be painting the nursery and just general house/baby things. First of all OH is how working, I can live with that as it gives me time to mark BUT then the MIL decides to pay a visit. I know I shouldn't moan but our plans always get changed because my OH can never say "oh well actually we had plans this weekend", it's not the first time it's happened and I was excited to be doing it. OH said he'll do some each night before I get home but I wanted to do it together.
I mentioned him working every Saturday and he had the cheek to say well I'm not working the next 2. This is true but only because it's his work do next weekend and he's helping his sister move the one after!!!
I just want some us time, I feel really down on myself and I know it's my hormones but I feel like he doesn't want to do stuff together because he doesn't fancy me anymore. Waaaaaah! I sound like a right moany cow, I just can't handle all these emotions ha ha!
Apologies for the pointless rant.

Ams hun don't worry everybody is different and you may benefit from them awww I didn't mean to dampen your spirits but I've been through labour only had gas and air when pushing and to me my friend was right as the classes wouldn't have been something for me but others might benefit xx

I am also feeling very unattractive to my other half right now - he has had two nights out this week with his mates and on the one inbetween them he was too ill to help me walk his pup or clean up the house. Not feeling the love. and he thinks he is showing i by bring me a kebab at midnight last night, hmmmm. We all go through phases with our hormones, best thing is to just tell OH's point blank you need more XXXXXX, whatever that is to make you feel loved/cherished/happy :)

Good luck!

K xx

Oh, also, regarding the NCT classes - I was told you don't learn things you wouldn;t have picked up elsewhere but I am doing them to meet people :) Same with Aqua natal classes in fareham that I started last week, I am perfectly fit and exercise well anyway (and find the class too easy just now) but do it to meet others that are pregnant in the area :)

Hi ladies.
Finally got an emergency dentist appt this morning and am now home in bed feeling very sorry for myself. They wouldn't take my wisdom tooth out and said I will have to wait until after the birth, but they gave me a lower dose of anaesthetic and removed part of my gum which had got rucked up as there's not enough room for the tooth. The flap of gum had meant I couldn't close my mouth properly as it was in the way of my teeth. Could still kind of feel it as they were cutting it out though, and since the injection has worn off the pain has been ridiculous.
Going to be sipping soup through a straw for the next few days I think!!
And got to work tomorrow morning which sucks, so hope it's a bit better by then.

Exciting to hear about your purchases. We were thinking of getting a cot and then buying a normal chest of drawers and wardrobe separately - or do people think its better to get specific nursery stuff? Xxx

I hope you feel better soon x I've been thinking the same thing about the nursery furniture, interesting to see what everyone else is thinking

I went to them with ds, it was utterly ridiculous. You could gather more information from a child. The MWs were great, very patient but the group I went with were complete idiots. The mw asked if anyone knew a sign that labour was beginning and I was thinking diarrhoea, mucus plug, contractions and one girl said "my sister mentioned something to me about waters breaking". The mw was like yeah but you can be in labour for hours before that happens and the girl started arguing with her about what her sister had told her.

We learnt much more from reading and then obviously none of it even mattered when I went into labour anyway as my body took over and did it all for me. Not to deter anyone though! I'm sure few places could be as rubbish a where we went lol

Happy pram shopping Nicky. And naomi, I hope your wisdom tooth gets sorted soon. I've still got my 2, but every time they moved I looked like a hamster and was in so much pain. They've been ok for a couple of years now, so really hoping it stays that way!

We're just getting a cot. We've a wardrobe and drawers in the room already, which we're going to use. Its that yellowy pine, but it works :) we're going to pick up my bargain breast pump tomorrow then going to rhs rosemoor in the afternoon for a nice walk.
