Any experience of ICSI IVF?

Hi all!
I have today been told that the highest chance that my DH and I have of 'achieving a pregnancy' is through having ICSI IVF. For those who don't know, this is where a sperm is injected directly into the egg.
I have PCOS and haven't had a natural period for well over a year now. I did however have one that was brought on by taking Provera but a day 21 blood test proved that I hadn't ovulated. (Sorry for anyone that has already read by story elsewhere on the forum!)
However it's my hubby's low sperm count that means that ICSI really is our biggest chance of getting BFP. Although I have to lose 3 stone before they will start us on this, which is frustrating but I know it's necessary and something I just have to do.
My question is, whether anyone has any experience of ICSI and/or if anyone knows of it's success rate? All I've really been able to find out is that the success rate with ICSI is as high as the success rates when having other forms of IVF (once the egg has been fertilised with the sperm being injected.)
I really can't seem to find much more about it, so any info. would be much appreciated.
Also has anyone read any good books regarding good diets for control of PCOS and weight loss?
Many thanks in advance! .x.x.

Hi we had ICSI due to my husband's very low sperm count. The success rates aren't too far from standard IVF. The process is exactly the same in terms of everything you have to do, it's just the making of the embryos in the lab that's different.

We had success on our third round. It was quite a journey but completely worth it in the end. It's a very tough journey.

Weight can have a big impact on success so it's well worth looking into that. I can't help with PCOS diets but I'm sure some of the other girls on here can.

If you have any questions on the process fell free to give me a shout. The IVF thread on here is a fabulous support too

Thanks for getting back to me ScotchEgg!
Do you have to inject yourself before they take your eggs? I really don't know much about it to be honest, so I'm a bit in the dark when it comes to the whole process?!

Yes, the drugs are injected daily to stimulate the ovaries before egg collection.

I read Zita West's guide to infertility and fertility treatments (off the top of my head, may not be the actual name of the book) which was really interesting and taught me lots about the process. Is highly recommend it. I think it's quite expensive but I borrowed it from the library.

We've had 2 rounds of ICSI, first was because they thought DH had really low count which turns out to be wrong and 2nd because I took part in an IVF trail where they had to use ICSI.

It can be very daunting and a lot of info to take in but any questions there are a few of us on here who've been through it and happy to try and help answer them.

As for PCOS and trying to lose weight, have you tried metformin? I've no experience but have heard that can really help.

We also have been through it which you can see the journey through my signiture. It can be daunting but its not actually too bad, the nerves are the worst as each stage you are hoping everything goes well...we are starting with our FET's in the new year from our 2nd round.
Zita wests book is really good about IVF, and not sure about PCO's but I know losing weight can help alot.
Habe you been refered then?
