Bonze, we were originally going to wait until the 20w scan too and probably will wait to buy some things until after then but we really wanted to make the most of the January sales, so we decided to buy earlier than planned. We'll probably do the same with the nursery furniture as it's a really good price at the moment in Mothercare.

Whilst I enjoyed looking at prams I also found it a bit stressful. We didn't have a huge budget and part of me felt a little sad that we can't afford the 'best' for our baby, I just want the best for them. I saw some couples pushing around a £900 Bugaboo and I know how highly rated they are, but I'm happy with our choice. I know it's not all about cost though

Bump - Definitely there now and feels rather big at the moment! I keep getting comments from work colleagues too :)

xx

Bare in mind that things like Bugaboo, Quinny, etc... Whilst yes, they are good systems, a lot of the time you're paying for the name as much as the product, and that brands such as Mothercares own, or whoever's, are often just as good.

They still all have to conform to the same safety standards before being allowed anywhere near the shelves, and most expensive definitely does not always mean best, especially on things like travel systems where people's requirements/preferences vary so greatly. Xx

That's exactly what we told ourselves - that they would all need to meet safety requirements in order to be sold in the first place. Quinny was one that I happily looked away from luckily as I have a thing about 3-wheelers, not sure why! I have zero experience with them and I've only heard one bad experience about them, but I insisted that ours would have 4 wheels. I know you pay for the brand a lot of the time too. I just hope baby is as happy with our choice as we are :) xx

I'm missing all the baby shopping, as we still have everything we need from our DS - we'll be re-using the car seat, pram, moses basket, cot. If we end up having a boy I won't even need to buy clothes as we've got all of them too! I might look at getting a new sling though. We had a baby bjorn one which was fine, and DH loved using it, especially so he could wear baby and get stuff done round the house while I was having a sleep, but I found it a bit too structured I guess, so will be looking at some of the softer styles. I have a vague memory from fist time round of something called a sling library, where you could borrow different styles of sling and try them out for yourself before buying one - just google sling library.

Well 12 days to go till hopefully we find out gender - so might be tempted to go shopping if we are team pink - but will probably wait a while as we are trying to sell our house, so need to keep clutter and new stuff to a minimum!

Also, forgot to say I had a friend who had the Quinny Buzz travel system a couple of years ago and she hated it. The problem with it was that it has such a high centre of gravity that it felt really unstable all the time. And the pram section that the baby was in just felt really wobbly. So definitely don't just be swayed by brand names, give the pushchairs a good test drive round the shop, how well do they corner, how stable do they feel - something I found helpful was how easy are they to steer with one hand? Are you going to be taking it on holiday abroad? If so, find one that is under 10kg as this is usually the limit for airlines. We both loved our travel system - not the cheapest around, but by far no where near the most expensive - really easy to use, easy to steer, stable and comfortable, and under 10kg! Mamas and Papas Zoom (if they still do it) - cost us £299 including car seat - although I think we had to pay an extra £25 for the car seat adapters to fit it to the pushchair frame. Still - not bad. That was over 3 years ago now though. Also - I know some people are not keen on three wheelers, but when I was looking I generally found them to be a bit narrower than the 4 wheel ones, which makes negotiating busy shops and pavements a little bit easier. I also found them easier to steer.

I'm same as you Toni
already have Moses basket car carrier pram and much more
Also fully equipped with boys clothes from 0 to 2 years so unless I'm 3 weeks time were having a girl then I will be doing very little shopping : ( boooo
I don't mind either way girl or boy we would be happy x

This is our first baby so we've pretty much got to get everything, although my sister has offered some of her baby stuff, which we will gladly accept! I like the idea of buying everything new for our baby, but we won't be saying no to any freebies!

Team Yellow here so everything will be gender neutral. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're having, for those of you who are finding out :) xx

We're off for another pram shopping trip after the midwife on Wed. Think we'll end up going for the Cossato. There are some lovely looking systems around but a bit out of our price range. Bit jealous of the Joolz Boosh, they look amazing and they're definitely OH's fave.

What nursery themes are team yellow people going for?
Majority of neutral themes seem to be very beige. Cute but not what we're looking for. We either like the idea of grays and yellows or white walls with loads of bursts of bright colours with the bedding/curtains accessories.

Just had my late 16 week appointment with midwife
Just asked if all is ok
Dipped urine
Checked blood pressure and then that's all and see you at 28 weeks
So different with your second they don't see you half as much
Oh well got scan 3 weeks tomorrow roll on : ) x

Kwarbee I found it really stressful; my hubby isn't convinced we need certain things that I feel strongly about like carrycot as I do a lot of walking and keen for baby not to be in car seat for lengthy periods of time! Also its a minefield and I end i forgetting what I have been told about each pram!

Boosh we were keen on the Joolz too, the only thing I worried about was the storage along with the price but amazingly my parents have offered to by our pram as it will be mainly used by them!

Staying team yellow Crawkay and will be going for whites and greys in the nursery! This will sound ridiculous but I have never like children's themes...will of course introduce colour and texture but never liked themes...bit weird I know! probably add yellow for boy and peach/pinks for girl! Being an interior designer makes me pretty bloody fussy!!

I had got into buying clothes but there is only so much gender neutral bits you can get so I'm going to start looking at practical stuff like muslin's etc!

Anyone looking at organic nappies...ones without bleach and plastics in? not reusable but just a bit kinda on bubs skin? Also slings...hubby wants one he can wear too and isn't keen on the one that looks like a hammock or the massive material ones; any further advice would be appreciated!

Firsttimemum it sure is
My first pregnancy and midwife was so very lovely and this one feels very I dunno short and uninformative
I can't remember hardly anything from my first pregnancy and with experiencing a bleed this one is all the more scary
Oh well
I guess any worries and I'll be straight on the phone

I asked about listening to heartbeat and she said won't be till after 20 weeks
So will hear it at scan then not again till 28 weeks with midwife x

Crawkay, I liked the Cossato as it was another one that ticked all the boxes for us, but I must admit that I didn't like any of the bold colours. I'm a bit boring with colours

Nursey theme - I must admit that I have absolutely no idea. I do like the idea of a very subtle animal or Disney theme, but I mean really subtle! Colours - Probably greys, pastels and whites I suppose? Again, as above, I'm not a fan of bold colours so I'm sure it'll look very calm and neutral.

Laura, I found my midwife was like that, and this is my first. I'm not keen on her though (had a few issues...) so that doesn't help.

Firsttimemum, yes, I'm happy to like your fb page! :)

Bonze, I felt exactly the same. There's just so much choice and I felt like I needed a comparison chart with prices and everything included to make a decision! We went for a pram with a carry cot but the pram has a newborn insert so that it could be used from birth, which is great as an option.

xx

Yeh, the Cossato is probably a bit love it or hate it. They're all very bold. In general I'm not someone who likes all bright colours but for some reason they're the things I'm drawn to with baby stuff.

I'd like the FB page too Firsttimemum

Hoping to catch up with the posts but something caught my eye! Don't want to upset anyone lol but

I was advised not to have baby in car seat on a pushchair for long periods as it keeps there back curved! Fair enough you go shopping and baby's asleep so you leave then on the seat as you won't be out long but for baby to be in it all the time I wouldn't do this myself nor did I with DD in my eyes the car seat is for the car!

Crawkay I loved the look of the Cosatto too, everything about it, but when I checked out reviews there seemed to be some serious safety issues.... in posts as late as October 2014, so I don't know if they've updated the model since then or anything. Not to put you off but I thought it worth mentioning, as I would want a lot of reassurance from store staff before getting it - shame as it did tick all my boxes otherwise!!

I'm now a bit tempted by the Jane Muum (plus carrycot etc), has anyone come across one of those or other Jane models? I also love the Silver Cross Pioneer to look at but, as many of you have said, am wary of just paying for the name.

We're also not buying until after the 20 week scan but that's not until 20th feb!

As for the bump - sometimes it seems HUGE and other times barely there, so I'm wondering if it's just bloat still... Does anyone else still massively panic that something's gone wrong in there and baby's not ok? I just can't stop worrying :/

AnotherYou - we have purchased the Cosatto Giggle 2 - the safety issues were with the first model over a year ago - it was taken off the market and they rebuilt the model and it underwent lots of safety tests. We did alot of research with lots of different prams - the first and foremost for us was safety. We went for this model as I will be doing alot of walking as we only have one car that hubby uses daily for work - so I wanted easy to steer, lightweight, all weather suitable and easy to get on and off buses. I think everyone wants something different depending on their situations and what you need the pram to do for you.

We didn't intend on buying the pram until 20 weeks, but there was some fantastic offers on prams, monitors etc and as we don't have much money since I had to leave my job, every penny counts - so after discussions with parents we got the pram and its at my mum and dads along with everything else - as I'm very paranoid.

Has anyone bought any maternity trousers/jeans? I ordered some from asda they are lovely, but I need a bigger bump as they are the ones to fit under the bump, just wanted something as an option aswell as my leggings!

Anotheryou I get the same still bloat throughout the day have a lovely bump before bed then get up to a little bump lol
Sure all will be ok just can't wait for next scan to get all the detailed work done to make sure baby is growing ok and heart etc is all ok too :)

Katyjane I haven't brought any yet I saved a couple of black trousers from my first pregnancy but really want some maternity jeans in this colder weather
I lived in leggings during my last pregnancy through summer they were fab x

We saw all about the problems with the orginal Cosatto Giggle but the 2 has fixed those issues.
It just seems such a great, complete system for a decent price. If we get it before 28th Jan the car seat is in too.

Once 20 week scan is done we'll start wth all the other purchases. So exciting :)
