when to start buying things???

Hi all was wondering when everyone is planning on starting to buy baby stuff. Ive had my 1st scan (the 12th week one but had it just before turning 11 weeks) was in town today and wanted to buy some bits and bobs but not sure if should hold off for a while?? what do you guys think?? xx

As my OH would say, you make your own luck. So if you want to buy something thn do, you buying something does not mean something may or may not happen to your baby. Whatever is meant to be and what not.

If you buy something and somethig happens wlthen you save it for the next baby, or you gift it to a friend who is having a baby.

So I would say go ahead and pick up what you want, keep your items small at first.... Then when you a but further along then go for the bigger stuff.

I've bought a little brush and comb set at 13 weeks and nothing since but really intend to get going more after the 20 week scan

I haven't got anything yet, and will wait a while longer I think, but I would say do what feels right for you.
It really is just superstition, but I know i don't want to have things that would make it seem more real until it really will happen! (I'm just silly).

I do have a draw winth free samples from last time and will try to boost those soon, eg trial newborn nappies etc, as lovely to peek in on them!

What is it you really fancy buying?

I was in town yesterday and it was sooo tempting, but i didnt just because i havent had my scan yet, so once ive had my scan im going to start buying things!! mainly because i dont have a big lump of money, so going to need to buy things as i get paid every month haha and going to be on SMP which is sod all and definately wont be able to afford anything! haha x

do it!! it makes it more exciting!! we used to go baby shopping every other week to buy something its nice to keep having a nosey when ur sssooo excited. if you buy somthing every week it spreads teh cost to

Buying things now won't make things go wrong! I'd say go for it if you want to! I bought a couple of little outfits but that isn't what made things go wrong! I have put them away for sticky one when it arrives

I have just had scan so think I might start purchasing little things soon. We have chosen our furnitue n interior already but not gonna order till sep when I can get my discount which is very lucky I know. Im not getting pram from work though I want a silver cross surf. The things I have now are things my mum n nan have been knitting they couldnt wait xxxxx

I just worked out , if you don't include July, as our accounts are hummph- well a little stuffed this month lets say, then there are only 5 more paydays till baby arrives in early Jan!

Arghhhhhh think your bit by bit method may be just what we need!

I really wanted to buy something after my 12 week scan but when I went to the shops I just didn't see anything I really really liked so I still haven't got anything. I am thinking of tidying the spare room soon so after that I might have a free drawer to start filling it with baby stuff.

I'm gonna get a box (saw a lovely one in WHSmith today, was very tempted!) for putting things in after my first scan (a week tomorrow, hurrah!).

Yeah I think I'm going to start off with things like baby grows and stuff, and vests. And have emptied 2 drawers in my room ( I am havin to live at home with my mum when baby comes as cannot afford to move out for toffee) and going to sort out my living room (my mum gave me my own so can have my own space) and redecorate and stuff soon so I'm all ready in plenty of time. Thing is my OH is always saying "we have ages to do that stuff" and I don't think he's realised it's really only 6 months and thst tends to fly! It's the first time in my life I wish winter would get here. Lol. Not sure wat other stuff to buy apart from baby gros and vests, hats and mittens! Anyone got anything else they would buy this early? X

I brought a couple things between my 12 week and 20 week scan but since then ive been buying 2-3 things a week and i buy a packet of nappies every week when i do my food shop!! It spreads the buying out a little!

I've bought almost everything now apart from a pram, baby moniter and assorted other things! I feel like the odd one out, lol.

Well i know i said i was going to buy small things but last night i bought a cotbed!! it was only cause it was a bargain. 69 quid off kiddicare. Has good reviews so thought what the hell just do it!! may as well start getting all the other bits like u say jj mum wont be many more paydays really not when you think we have summer hols and then xmas!!! happy shopping all xx
