Weight drop.. When to worry?

Oh god sorry to hear that, I remember now from another thread..
How did they diagnose? If u don't mind?

Just realized she was weighed on 25th jan at 10.11 and today at 10.9 so it was under two weeks ago.. Don't know if that's better or worse tbh! I just hope it's something simple and not anything I'm doing wrong :(

Is she anymore awake than she was as a newborn? I only ask as izzy was very sleepy and hardly feeding from birth it was only cause she was jaundice that I kept persisting when they said well if she is alert when awake there's no worries. Which she was but by 4 weeks old she was no more awake and not feeding much at all. Never finished feed ect. glad I did as they found she was very anaemic aswell as jaundice. If it's really worrying u make appointment for today won't do any harm x

Oh Hun hope u get things sorted sure the hv will b able to help. Ethan didn't wear 0-3 till he was over 3 mths ! Maybe if they can sort the poo situation her feeds may increase ? Try not to worry if she is alert and happy u r defiantly doing something right xxxx

They did a sweat test hun , its basically putting a gel on her hand and taking a sample of sweat after covering it in filter paper for 30 mins they decided to check for it due to her being wheezy a lot and being under-weight . I hope its something simple :hugs:

Blimey that's an odd test! It's good they've diagnosed early and straight away otherwise there would have been endless tests and problems, I know babies that have been misdiagnosed so many times and they saw one diff doc and they get it first time! What are they doing for her? Sorry if I'm being too nosey!

She's almost newborn like at times tbh! There are times when she's awake for an hour looking around and smiling etc and having a little kick about.. Then gets grumpy for sleep.. Put a blanket to her cheek and she falls asleep instantly!
Just fed her for 40mins hasn't emptied my left side n didn't want anymore..
I fed her downstairs at 8 rather than put her to bed and went up with her at 12 and fed her, she didn't feed well and was grumpy the whole time coz she was tired :(

No ask away hun . Im all new to it so I dont know lot yet though. The test was really strange ! I have an appointment on the 15 then we will see a specialist , a social worker and a physiotherapist and go from there . Apparently I have a lot to learn ;) It does sound like shes not interested in food maybe your right about her having a little blockage ? xxx

I'm kinda hoping I'm right and it can be fixed but then also hope it's not coz she's in pain sometimes.. She will belt out a scream randomly in the evenings :(
Must be so hard for u hun especially the not knowing what's gonna happen etc :(

Just read this. Not sure what to suggest on the weight loss. Hope they can help in clinic tomorrow. Wonder if maybe her blood sugars are low as they sleep lots and not interested in feeding.

Tiny Toes - just read your little one has cf. my nephew was diagnosed at 6mth and I'm a carrier of it too. Hopefully now they have noticed it early things will be sorted in terms of physio and meds x

Hope you find out why her weight has dropped. My Elyssa dropped from 9th centie to 0.4th and I had to get her weighed every week. She has been following 2nd centile for a month now. Have you tried mothercare clothes? I found they were small. She fits newborn in these and about to grow into her sainsburys and John lewis newborn.

Could she have an allergy to milk perhaps? X

My LO had awfull weight gain at birth she was 8lb 1oz dropped to 7.5 then took 5 weeks to regain it! will check what she was at 12 weeks later. it turned out she is Lactose intolerant, she would be constipated for days then have lots of green funny Poos for a couple of days! hope you get some advice wednesday. could you try cutting out dairy from your diet in the mean time? x

I'll give that a try.. It's gonna be hard as I love cheese and tea!
I forgot your girl is named Elyssa like mine :D
Hopefully I'll get some answers soon.. If she has an allergy to my milk would she have other symptoms?
Her poos are always liquidy and orange yellow in colour.. Stains her skin bless her have to scrub her :(
She now has conjunctivitis in her other eye too poor thing :(
Just fed her again and she took the let down on both sides and that's it :( gonna try feeding her again earlier maybe at 4?

Looked in John Lewis and bhs and none fit her :( got some more boots clothes for her I'll shrink them in the dryer lol!!

She may not have other symptoms Hun, could try soya milk in your tea better than nothing! just looked in Tegans red book and at 13 weeks she was 10lb 5oz x

Thanks babe :)
Eww soya :puke: lol! My friend is vegan and attempted to make me a tea with it to prove it tasted the same as normal milk I couldn't drink it lol!! I'll see if coffee whitener has milk in it I've used this before in tea when I've run out of milk..
She still hates baths! Thought I had a breakthrough tonight she was calmer than usual but hated me washing her hair then screame til I got her dressed and in her dressing gown lol!

Coffee powder also contains milk. if its a Lactose intolerance you can get lacto free cows milk which tastes like normall milk. hope you get some answers today xx

Thanks Hun.. They didn't suggest any allergies and tbh I totally forgot to ask :wall: I've updated in jayceesmum thread on how it went.. I'll ask the gp on Friday about allergies!!

Just seen this thread.

Dont know if this helps at all but when savannah reached three months she didn't gain any weight at all for two weeks. When i asked what might be wrong the hv asked if she was starting to teeth because sometimes when teething starts they do tend to either lose a little weight or not gain as much. She said there was no reason for it it's just their bodies way of dealing with it.

x

Oh really?? Thanks for that hun lilyanna is definitely teething!! I'll mention that to gp on Friday! Thanks that's helped ease my mind!! Did She gain well after the two weeks??

thats ok :) I know i was worried sick when it happened.

She dropped two centile lines but has stayed on that line ever since so is growing well now :)

She is still teething but is gaining weight now.

Glad it helped!

Thanks again hun I really hope it's just teething! She's hardly feeding when it comes to we night feed no matter how much I try.. Tonight's the longest she's fed for in weeks.. She has a horrid cold and screams when she coughs the poor thing so it's gonna be hard to get her weight up while she's ill.. I hope they just keep an eye on her weight for the next week or two and then take action if she's still not gaining.. How much are they supposed to gain a week? She went from 10.0 to 10.11 in two weeks then dropped to 10.09 two weeks after..
