uncomfortable about breast feeding

I feel the exact same, studing chilldcare for 4 years always made me say I would breastfeed my child, but getting pregnant young made me think otherwise. Want my OH to be able to share the feeds too, and I think I would feel a little embarrased at my age. I am dreading the day when my midwife asks me as I see so many bad words on here from midwives who think you should. Just do what you think is best.x

Exactly as i said....its not guaranteed to lose weight.

Same as with Weight watchers/going to the gym/being on a diet ect ect

Its about cals in/cals out. You'd have to be following a healthy diet for it to work.
TBH I dont think cosmic said its guaranteed you will lose weigh, but it helps as it burns calories. And we all agreed its calories in/out.

Anyway, its a personal choice and I saw people say they absolutely wont breasfeed and then love it and people who were determined and couldnt, its one of those things.

I also know a girl who had breast reduction and she doesnt know if it will work and she is being pressured by certain midwives which is unneccessary. Everyone's sutuation is different

it is very boring - at last we agree on something.
I say on this thread that it helps with weight loss and uterus shrinkage and the two things you specifically say on your reply is "it absolutly doesnt help with weight loss and shrinkage", that is you calling me out imo.
I can disagree with whoever I want on here, I wasnt offensive and was polite. If that gets to you then click the ignore button. You are more than welcome to disagree with me but I do not expect the arsey comment in reply.[/QUOT

Why do you keep saying "arsey comment" looool all i said was you'd disagree with me if i said white was white & black was black.

I'm done looooool - im having quite a good day and cant be bothered with an argument tbh

An arsey comment, for no reason other than I didnt agree with you!
Y'know, like you said you didnt agree with me in the first place! i think you should read back the thead, i was nothing but polite to you in my reply and i think you knew that writing something like that woould cause greif and was really not needed.

Whatever cosmic

Bored...

Thought you were going to enjoy your day, not to come back with a rude comment, grow up love.

Ladies can we please keep this thread on topic and leave the personal comments out of it so I don't need to close it, thank you :)

Breastfeeding isn't right for everyone, and I have several friends who like littlemiss have found giving up to be the best thing they could have done as it was really getting them done. It is true, however, that it not only burns calories but helps the uterus to shrink back down as it releases oxytocin, so I'm not sure why an argument has started out over facts that may be important to someone in helping them to make their decision :) x

Neither do I but i'm kinda used to it.

Good luck to all those making tough decisions. I hope you've not been put off by the argument on this thread. Its a shame when this happens.

I breastfed all 6 of my kiddies while loosing weight wasnt the reason i did this i did actually loose alot as a result. It is fab for helping get your womb to shrink back when my lo would latch on in the first few days after birth i could feel my womb contract.
Cosmic i always value your opinion I like to take all opinions on board weather they are the same as mine or in total disagreement after all there wouldn't be a forum if none of us tried to pass on our experience and knowledge. its up to the individual weather they want to listen or not. I don't think being hostile and rude will benefit anyone. x

I hope that everyone can make educated informed desicions about their feeding methods and can be happy with whatever they chose. A happy mum equals a happy baby. Its a great shame when there are arguments, I hope it doesnt take away from the real fact that will hopefully help you to make an informed choice x

Thanks Amy, I appreciate that. I agree with everything you have said there xx

Never a truer word spoken

I reckon breastfeeding has helped me loose weight, so has baby wearing, walking EVERYWHERE because we are now to poor to run a car/use the bus and generally running about CONSTANTLY after a mobile and crazy cat-food eating, stair climbing, high chair escaping little MONSTER :)

so i reckon you loose weight quite naturally after having a child anyway... BUT i definitely think breastfeeding helped, i could literally feel myself tightening up up during the first few weeks...

Personally I always wanted to bf and for the first 2 and a half weeks it was a struggle but for me it was well worth sticking with it.
Weight loss wise, as this seems to have come up, I didnt lose any weight to start with BUT once I cut out the snacking and ate healthily the weight dropped off me and I'm now 2 dress sizes smaller than before pregnancy so that has been a great benefit :)

Overall I am a firm believer in happy mummy = happy baby, I have friends who were much happier once they switched onto formula. I would say if you can manage give it a go for the first few days as the colustrum is very good for LO BUT do what works for you and your family and dont feel bad if you decide not to bf - its only milk :)

I plan on breastfeeding or like a week or so and then formula feeding. I hate the breastfeeding mums who cry if someone gives them a funny look but they are the most judgmental bunch when it comes to bottle feeding!
A friend of mine says she almost ended up hating her daughter because she felt like a milking cow and she didn't 'bond' with the baby as much because she felt like whenever she touched her daughter all she wanted was feeding. So she stopped after two month, even tho the midwife tryed to make her carry on... she says its the best thing she ever did... but other women bond more through breast feeding... everyone is different...
xx

I've lost over three stone while feeding Isla! And I've not changed my diet or exercised. Bf rocks! I think I burn more calories than I eat which helps, but I'm stable at 9 stone 10 which I've not been since I was 23 :) (I'm 28 now)
