Well baby's due date was the 11th August and with my son being born the morning of his due date I was entering into unchartered territory of seeing the 11th come and go! Sunday morning no signs or symptoms but I was the same with my son. I was a little disheartened but soon cheered up with a phone call from my mum asking if I was ok and whether I'd like to go for a family meal to celebrate my birthday as I might not be able to on the actual day (my birthday is the 15th). I agreed and was lookig forward to it as I was convinced nothing was going to happen till my birthday!

All day no signs and as we were about to leave I went to the loo and my undies were wet and a small blob of plug. My oh said he knew that it would happen as we were about to go out. Input on a pad and off we went. We had a lovely carvery and dessert and were chatting when I felt some kind of rumble and felt a bit wet again. I didn't say anything and as we got up to leave I could feel it trickle down my leg. I mentioned it to oh who said what about the poor person who sits there next but I don't think anything went until I stood up.

Nothing else happened until about 8pm with cramps and we settled to watch the closing ceremony. I said to oh I was going to dose as I had a feeling we'd be up soon enough. At 1am I woke oh up and said we better call my mum to come over to have our son and she arrived about 1.15am. We'd pre packed the car that afternoon and off we went. We got to the hospital at 1.30am and got taken through to triage. The midwife heard babies heartbeat and then took it off and went to see another woman who was shouting please help me. She came back and examined me. She then said I was only 2cm and my waters were still there and I wasn't having contractions. I asked her how she knew this as I wasn't on a monitor but I wasn't a whinger like the lady opposite. She then said to go home and come back when theyre more regular (despite my notes saying I had a fast labour with my son).

Off we went home and back they came. My house was too hot so I was in the garden. I couldn't sit or lay down so was leaned on my work surface trying to breathe through it. Mum was debating going home but I wasn't giving an answer as I couldn't focus right at that time.

Suddenly I said I think weve got to go back! Mum and oh jumped up and said why and I said I've got to push soon!! We went to the car with oh saying don't push in the car we'll get there soon. That journey seemed to take forever!! We parked in the maternity car park and rushed into the reception. We hadn't even looked at the parking meter (although it was broken). The woman at the desk then asked my name and looked
Confused when it was already down. I need to push I told her. I then answered that it was my second child. She lead us past the triage down to the labour rooms. We walked in one and it was being cleaned so she said come next door we'll see how your doing. I climbed on the bed and she went oh wow I can see the head. She hit a button and two other midwifes came in. They rushed around getting ready asking me not to push as they weren't ready for the baby. It was easier said than done but gas and air made that easier. After 6 mins of pushing at 4.36am my little man was born. I was determined not to tear but I did have a small one as he came out with his hand against his face. We didn't have a name so the midwife nicknamed him domino -express delivery. He weighed 6lb 6oz and is only 18inches long! I was stitched in the room next door as I didn't give birth in a labour room. After had tea and toast and had a shower and felt great. We were moved onto the postnatal ward to await cord blood results as I'm o- blood group and we got home at 5pm Monday night.

We decided to call him Toby (also happens to be a Toby carvery my waters went in) and Reece is a name my oh loved but I didn't want as a first name.

My ds is loving having baby around (he won't say Toby although will point to him when asked) and we are very much in awe of our little boy. This time round has been emotional for me as I've done things for the first time as I had my leg in plaster after having my ds after breaking my ankle so at 2 days Toby went out in his pram whereas it wasn't until my ds was 8 wks old that I got to do it with him. The most simple of things seem to make me smile such as being able to stand and make bottles and to just stand up holding him make me feel so grateful all went smoothly this time.

I'll try and add a picture when I get on my laptop!
